FEATURE OF THE WEEK: Whom to blame?

I realize that everybody's life comes to a fullcycle between birth and death. Life is adynamic process consisting of multipleactivities, physical, mental and spiritual. Thespirit of life, which for our understanding at this

stage may be defined as the Soul (Atma), issaid to be the root cause of human birth. Thissoul force in each living being brings along withit impressions of past lives. When this soulforce creates a living entity like a human being,

it becomes a 'Jiva'. This jiva or human being isendowed with certain mental and physicalinstruments in the form of mental and physical'indriyas' in order to carry-on its worldlyactivities (both physical and mental) inaccordance with his desires, either created inthis life or brought forward from the past lives.Using the various faculties of mind and body,he calculates and strives to achieve his desired

objects. While doing so, at times, he succeedsand at time he fails to achieve. When heachieves, whatever he desires, he feels happyand when he fails to achieve his objectives, hefeels unhappy. His life goes through a series ofachievements and non-achievements till his

death. Besides the inherent capabilities of themind and the body, it is the circumstance inwhich he tries to achieve his goals whichcontributes immensely in bringing success orfailure. Human beings do try to use thecircumstantial advantages to their benefit and

control the un-favourable circumstances to theextent it is possible for them to do so. However,no person, the mightiest and the lowliest alike,has ever been able to control the circumstances

to the fullest extent in accordance with hisdesires. History indicates that some mightyrulers had miserable death.

The greatest limitation of the living beings isthat they cannot control their circumstancesbeyond a certain point. When circumstancesbecome favourable, sometimes, one achievesmore than what he anticipates and when

circumstances become unfavourable, heachieves less than his expectations. A saint ora wise man accepts such limitations, andtherefore, lives happily, whereas others who failto accept such a reality, suffer agony. Take forexample a child who has genetic disorders as a

result of which his physical organs are defectiveor his mental faculties are limited. In such asituation, who is to be blamed, if we try toblame someone else, including the parents,nature or God for this miserable state of things?Again for example, when many people perish

due to landslide in a hill, then who is to beblamed? Can one get a solution by blaming thehills or the forces of nature? Even if one makessuch factors responsible for his misery, does it

bring a solution to his satisfaction? Blame thedeities one worships or the non-manifestedsovereign energy force called God? Manypeople do so but I do not know if this bringsabout a solution to their problems.

The Hindu vedic seers have explained suchhappenings through the theory of Karma. Thetheory of Karma, elucidated exhaustively in the

Gita Mahapurana, simply states that "as yousow, so you reap". This reaping of the seed ofKarma can be of this life or the earlier lives.According to the Karma Theory, visiblereactions are not always commensurate withvisible actions. The blue-print of the invisible

action-reaction syndrome is carried forward bythe human beings (Jivas) from their past lives.This seems to be a good spiritual solution, but,except for the highly evolved souls, an ordinaryman is not capable of mentally accepting sucha concept in its totality and holding on to a stoic

attitude to life. In such an eventually who is tobe blamed? Some human beings have atendency to blame others, which includes otherhuman beings, society, circumstances and

even God for all their miseries simply becausethey cannot accept the realities of life. Theyforget that God or nature has created humanbeings of widely different varieties and hasgiven a right to each one to complete hislifecycle as ordained by destiny. Some of themoften hold-on to their so-called moral standardsand blame others for not coming up to theirlevel. This is another type of self-created

problem by the so-called good people. "If I amso good, they say, "Why should I suffer?" orthat "Why should the bad people enjoy life?"

Therefore, it would be wise to avoid such anattitude of blaming others as no human being is

even near perfection (spiritually speaking) onthis earth. One needs to learn to accept certainrealities, how-so-ever painful and make the bestuse of whatever is good and favourable toachieve reasonable standards of happiness andsuccess in his life cycle.

You came to Shirdi as a young lad. Just likeKrishna, children looked at You with awe andold ladies' hearts swelled up with motherlyaffection. At Your very first Darshan, Mahalspatiheart cried out, YA SAI and You became ourSai. Bless us with the same wealth that Youblessed your Mahalspati with.

Saint Gangagir came to Shirdi and seeing youcarrying pitchers of water in both hands forwatering the garden was amazed at YourDarshan and said, "Blessed is Shirdi that it gotthis precious Jewel; but He is not an ordinaryfellow. As the land was lucky and meritorious, it

secured this Jewell". Saint of Anandmath waslucky to find pure diamond like you. Such wasthe efficacy of Your Darshan that it quieted ourSamsar. Mr. Cholkar's desires were fulfilled justby Your Darshan. Mr. Sathe resorted to Yourfeet and seeing Your form, which was like

eternal Brahma, luminous, spotless and pure,his mind became calm and composed.

Dear Sai devotees I promised Saibaba that Iwould publish my experiences after those arefulfilled and all my wishes were fulfilled in lesstime. I have 3 things to share to start with firstone we are having one son who is 4yrs old andnow my wife is pregnant and we both are

looking for daughter this time. We both prayedto Baba to bless us with daughter and the daywe heard that it is baby girl we are in fullhappiness. Second one is I have my visa validuntil Sep 2010 and my wife is due in October2010 and adding to that my current assignment

is going to end by June 2010. In currentscenarios, getting visa extension is verydifficult, couple of my friends got visa extensionrejections, and they went back to India. We

have faith in Baba that he will look over us afterhearing the news of my daughter exactly after 2weeks my visa was extended and we are in fulloy and we immediately went to Baba temple inNew Jersey. And 3rd one is we have a 2weekbench policy in our company and after 2 weekseither I have to go back to India office or moveout of company. Therefore, I was deliberatelylooking for project personally considering we do

not have any projects in our company. I toldBaba that I would not eat banana, which is myfavorite fruit until I get project. Because ofBaba's grace after 2 weeks of getting my visaextended I got two projects, one with my samecompany and one is contract project. These are

my experiences within every 2weeks. Wecannot think of our life with out Baba's presencein our daily life. All this happened 2weeksbefore and yesterday night I got a dream that Iwas with Baba for whole day and showing memiracles in my dream. This way Baba reminded

VidyaDear Sai devotees, I would like to share a smallbut amazing experience of our dear Sai\'spresence. Today, I had been to my therapist for

a treatment. I had verified before and was toldthat one sitting would cost Rs. 1000. So I hadtaken exactly Rs. 1300, intending to keep Rs.300 for my lunch outside and travel expenses.When I was waiting for the treatment, I was toldby the receptionist that it would cost Rs. 1500.

My home is too far away to go and come backand I had no extra cash or credit card or ATMcard. Just before going for the treatment, Iprayed to my dear Baba to save me from thisembarrassing situation. After my therapy, whichlasted for an hour, I came to the desk and to tell

the receptionist that I would pay the balanceamount the next day. But to my surprise, sheasked me to pay only Rs. 1000. I wasoverjoyed. It was not about the amount of Rs.

thankful to him. My mother underwent quite afew surgeries for minor and major ailments.Again when she was about 58 years of age,she developed an ulcer, which gave a lot ofdigestion related problems. At the time of herearlier surgeries, I being a little sensitive couldnot control myself seeing my mother broughtout of the operation theater in an unconsciousstate. I only added to the misery of my elder

sister who was taking care of my mother. Whenshe was advised to go for another operation forthe ulcer, I was terribly afraid whether shewould be able to take it or not with such delicatehealth conditions. A surgeon was expectedfrom abroad, and he was to operate on my

mother. The date was fixed.

Seeing my emotional state my elder sisterasked me to be away from the hospital on theday of the surgery. I requested my husband totake me to Shiridi, as I wanted to be at the feet

of Baba when the operation was going on. Wewent to Shiridi and had a wonderful darshana ofBaba. In the evening, I called my sister to findout how mother was. To my utter delight and

astonishment, I was told that the surgeon whowas to operate on my mother, on seeing hermedical reports said that there was no need foran operation and it can be cured withmedicines. And he has been correct indeed. Isit not a miracle? Even after preparingeverything for the operation, Saibaba warded itoff. Baba please let us have total faith in yourLotus feet always. I am sure you will help us

come out of the few problems we are in.

The only character in the Sai satcharita forwhom Sai Baba is like a GURU, FRIEND,PHILOSOPHER is SHYAMA..And this is thecharacter I like the most. Even Shyamaji reactslike a close friend to Baba and every time theyfight like kids for small things.
