RIGHT OF LIVING IS FOR ALL

Human beings are involved in reaping the rich harvests of worldly pleasures,

ignoring the basic truths that death is inevitable, despite differences in their

natural instincts, habits and ways of living, there lies an underlying unity of

purpose among man and other creatures to live and enjoy unmindful of the

dangers and disappointments. Destruction of life is an unpardonable crime

according to the Cosmic Law. All should share the right of un-interrupted living.

The first principle of life is to protect the weak. Killing even under unavoidable

circumstances is considered sinful. Man is endowed with the power lo

discriminate between the right and wrong, virtue and vice. It is his duty to show

compassion towards the less fortunate fellowmen and the creatures of the sub

human world. The soul undergoes transmigration in accordance with the Karma.

It should evolve from its primitive stage and reach the highest state of

emancipation—The Mokhsha—Release from the cycle of birth and death. It has

been laid down that one should avoid violence as far as possible and seek

forgiveness for the injury caused to others. It is the passage of time that sooths

man's sorrows. During dawn everyday, after prayer and meditation, everyone

should make a self introspection as to the goal of life and how far he has

progressed and what remains to be done. Dawn is the most appropriate time to

chant the hymns and learn the scriptures by heart. All religions are agreed on this.

"GURU PURNIMA 1986

We had celebrated our Guru Purnima Festival on Sunday 20th, Monday 21st, &

Tuesday 22nd. July, 1986 with grandeur.

The Mandir wore the Festive Look with high Class Samiana and beautiful

illumination attended by a crowd of SAI Devotees. An insertion in 'The

Statesman' made the occassion over crowded.

On 20th. we had Ganapati Puja, Arati and Abhisekham in the morning till

afternoon. In the evening we had special BHAJAN by Sm. Swarna Raman and

Sri Hiralalji from Kharagpore.

On 21st. the Vyas Puja day the Festival started with SAI PUJA, Arati and

Abhisekham in the morning and special Bhajan by Smt Chandrika Mahalingam

and Smt. Krishna Mitra in the evening.

On 22nd. the Festival concluded with Anjaneya Puja, Arati, Abhisekham and

Vada-Matai with beautiful Bhajan by Melodious Sri Subhasis Banerjee.

On ail the days special Kakad Arati etc. was performed by Sriman Chhotelalji

from Kharagpore.

Special Daridra Narayan Seva was performed on Sunday, the 20th. July and

Satya Narayan Puja on 21st. July the Monday.

The Bhajan Singers were accompanied on Tabla by Sri Uttam Ghosh on all the

Fesival Days.

We thank all the Devotees for their active co-operation to make the occassion a

grand success.

SAIence QUIZ and SAIVATION

In June '86, Calcutta Doordarshan telecast a programme in its "Science Quiz

Programme".

Two 'beakers containing an Ice Cube in each were placed on the table. Warm

water was poured into both the beakers. While the Ice Cube in one of the

beakers was pressed down by a stick to remain at the bottom of the beaker, the

Ice Cube in the other beaker was allowed to float. Interestingly enough, the

freafloating Ice Cube melted quickly and the pressed-down Ice Cube stayed

intact for long.

The whole universe can be compared to the beaker and the warm bliss of the

Creator to the warm water. The 'ego' is to be compared to the Ice Cube. As long

as the EGO batic self is pressed down by the "Shadripu" ("Kama", "Krodha",

"Moha", "Lobha", "Mada" and "Matsarya"), one stays at the bottom frozen and

hardly aware of the warmth surrounding him. On removal of the "Shadripu", the

EGObatic self floats to the surface. The warm bliss penetrates and melts the

EGO enabling it to become one with it.

"FAITH" and "PATIENCE" with the ceaseless mental chanting of "SAInaam" will

help one to attain SAIvation.

Let our Heavenly Father Shirdi SAI BABA bestow His blessings on us to be

constantly aware of this significance to attain HIM.

"Aum SAI, Sri SAI, Java Jaya SAI !"

SAI'S GRACE

During a trip to South India we had brought a couple of Shirdi Sai Baba's key

chains and photos. We had become so fond of them that we would look at them

at least twice a day. It so happened during our trip that our mother Mrs.

Premamurti gifted the Sai key chains to our relatives wishing them Sai Luck and

a bright future. The Sai key chains not only brought them luck but also great faith

in Shirdi Sai Baba.

Though myself and my sister appreciated this gesture of our mother still we were

disappointed as we could not see Baba's loving face in the key chains any more.

When we returnned to Calcutta on 20th February 1986 Baba had a pleasant

surprise in store for us. We were simply delighted to see Sai Baba's photos at

every corner of our house. Sai Maharaj in exactly the same posture wearing the

same kafni as in the key chains which my mother had gifted which we simply

adored was was there in our house. This one was bought by my brother during

his trip to Shirdi in our absence. On asking my brother about the numerous Sai

photos pasted at every comer of our house, he said that some unknown Sai

devotee had sent to us by post about twenty five photos of Sai Maharaj.
