The next night he also offered the prayer and too many people gathered. On the third and the fourth nights more people gathered, but Allah's Apostle ( صلى هللا عليه did not come out to them. In the morning he said, ‘I saw what you were doing (و آله وسلمand nothing but the fear that it (the prayer) might be enjoined (make fardh) for you, stopped me from coming to you.’ And that happened in the month of Ramadan.

    Explanation

The above Hadith establishes the fact that 20 Rak’a Saltut Traweeh in the month of Ramadhan is Sunnah of the Prophet (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) and it has its beginning during the lifetime of the Apostle of Allah (وسلم آله و عليه هللا It was revived by Hadhrat .(صلى Umar (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) during his Caliphate.

It is in Hadith - Abdur Rahman bin Abdul Qari (تعالی عنہ said, "I (رضئ هللا went out in the company of Umar bin al-Khattab (عنہ تعالی هللا one (رضئ night in Ramadhan to the mosque and found the people praying in different groups. A man praying alone or a man praying with a little group behind him. So, Umar (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) said, "In my opinion I would better collect these (people) under the leadership of one Qari (reciter) (ie., let them pray in congregation)". So, he made up his mind to congregate them behind Ubai bin Ka'b (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ). Then on another night I went again in his company and the people were praying behind their reciter. On that Umar (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) remarked "What an Excellent Biddah ( البدعة this is; but the prayer which they do not perform, but sleep at its (الحسنةtime is better than the one they are offering". He meant the prayer in the last part of the night. (In those days) People used to pray in the early part of the night (Bukhari).

or a little less, or a little more, and recite the Quran slowly and distinctly. Soon We are going to send you a weighty

message (and entrust you with a momentous mission). Indeed, worship in the night is more impactful and suitable for recitation.

For, during the day you are over-occupied (with several

responsibilities).] (Al-Muzzammil – 1-7). And Allah's Statement - [ Indeed, Allah knows that, you and some of those with you, do stand (in Salah) close to two-thirds of the night. Sometimes half the night and sometimes close to one-third (of the night). Allah keeps the count of the day and the night (precisely). He knows that you cannot (always) keep time (so accurately). So, He has

turned to you with kindness and grace. You may recite as much of the Quran as you easily can. He knows that (at any given time)

some of you would be sick, and others would be traveling in search of Allah´s bounties. Still others would be (engaged in)

fighting for the cause of Allah. So, recite as much of the Quran as you can, establish Salah, pay Zakat and advance the virtuous loan

to Allah. Whatever good deeds you send ahead for yourself are there with Allah. You will receive the rewards for your deeds far better and bigger. Seek the forgiveness of Allah, for Allah is Most

Momineen Aisha ( is describing about the Tahajjud and Witr prayed of ( تعالی عنہارضئ هللاthe Prophet (وسلم آله و عليه هللا throughout the year. However, in the month of (صلى Ramadhan he prayed 20 Rak’a Taraweeh over and above his 11 Rak’a which he used to pray before dawn as 8 Rak’a Tahajjud and 3 Rak’a Witr.

It is in Hadith - Ummul Momineen Aisha ( تعال عنہا یرضئ هللا ) narrated that one night Allah's Apostle (وسلم آله و عليه هللا offered the prayer in the (صلى Mosque and the people followed him. The next night he also offered the prayer and too many people gathered. On the third and the fourth nights more people gathered, but Allah's Apostle (وسلم آله و عليه هللا did not (صلى come out to them. In the morning he said, ‘I saw what you were doing and nothing but the fear that it (the prayer) might be enjoined (make fardh) for you, stopped me from coming to you.’ And that happened in the month of Ramadan. (Bukhari, Book 19, Hadith # 9)

Ummul Momineen Aisha ( عنہا تعالی ہللا رضئ ) narrated that once (during Ramadhan) in the middle of the night Allah's Apostle ( آله و عليه ہللا صلى .went out and prayed in the mosque and some men prayed with him (وسلمThe next morning the people spoke about it and so more people gathered and prayed with him (in the second night). They circulated the news in the morning, and so, on the third night the number of people increased greatly. Allah's Apostle ( وسلم آله و عليه ہللا صلى ) came out and they prayed behind him. On the fourth night the mosque was overwhelmed by the people till it could not accommodate them. Allah's Apostle ( آله و عليه ہللا صلى came out only for the Fajr prayer and when he finished the prayer, he (وسلمfaced the people and recited 'Tashah-hud' and then said, "Amma ba'du. Verily your presence (in the mosque at night) was not hidden from me, but I was afraid that this prayer (Salat at-Raraweeh) might be made compulsory and you might not be able to carry it out.' (Bukhari, Book 11, Hadith # 48)

The Saltut Traweeh in the month of Ramadhan is Sunnah of the Prophet وسلم) آله و عليه هللا and it has its beginning during the lifetime of the (صلى Apostle of Allah (وسلم آله و عليه It was revived by Hadhrat Umar .(صلى هللا .during his Caliphate (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ)

It is in Hadith - Abdur Rahman bin Abdul Qari (تعالی عنہ said, "I (رضئ هللا went out in the company of Umar bin al-Khattab ( تعا هللا عنہرضئ لی ) one night in Ramadhan to the mosque and found the people praying in different groups. A man praying alone or a man praying with a little group behind him. So, Umar (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) said, "In my opinion I would better collect these (people) under the leadership of one Qari (reciter) (ie., let them pray in congregation)". So, he made up his mind to congregate

them behind Ubai bin Ka'b (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ).
