Powering Your Radiology PracticeIt’s time to turn off the light boxes, turn on the workstations and go filmless. A new day has dawned for radiologists and imaging professionals. With its Web-based, open standards architecture and intuitive design, Sage Intergy PACS (powered by GE Centricity PACS-IW) is changing the practice of radiology.

Sage has been leading innovations in healthcare for years, bringing providers, patients and payers together in ways no one has before. The complex world of radiology is no exception. We were among the first to recognize the value of radiology without boundaries. And now, in order to provide a new level of flexibility and make images available when and where they are needed, Sage has partnered with GE. Together, we are ushering medical imaging into a new age of productivity, precision and cost-effectiveness with Sage Intergy PACS.

Sage recognizes that success with a new software solution depends as much on the implementation as it does on the technology. As a result, we have invested in both our software and our employees to develop solutions that allow us to meet the specific needs of your practice. Sage partners with you to understand your unique business, workflow and expectations. Then, we tailor both the system and the implementation to your organization. Once the implementation is complete, we understand that our job is not done. We are available for support and assistance whenever you might need us—24 hours a day, 7 days a week.*

Compliance with Flexibility

Web-based PACS offers the most advanced PACS architecture available. With Sage Intergy PACS, we provides an enterprise scale, Web-based PACS that empowers personalized workflow and is designed to smoothly integrate with the various systems you may already use for clinical applications as well as the management of your practice.

Through compliance to industry standards such as DICOM, HL7 and the comprehensive IHE framework, Sage Intergy PACS provides flexibility and integration that can dramatically improve the flow of information for your radiologists and staff. Combined with its highly scalable architecture, this adherence to

standards enables Sage Intergy PACS to grow as your future needs demand, integrating to emerging clinical applications and allowing you to expand the boundaries of your PACS for years to come.

Simplifying Radiologist Workflow with Web-based PACS

In the past, PACS were typically designed with a client/server architecture. The focus of these systems was merely to provide functionality within the framework of the existing facility, working within dedicated confines, limited—if any—remote access, and dedicated workstations. There was rarely, if ever, a useful Web distribution component to these systems. If Web distribution was available, it was an add-on component, practically an afterthought to the

core PACS. Images might reside temporarily on the Web server for a designated period of time and later be deleted. Images would have to be reloaded if they were needed again and were

rarely available at their full fidelity. In addition, the functionality of the Web distribution system was extremely limited, typically using different viewers and functionality than the radiologists were accustomed to for primary interpretation. With Web-based PACS, these limitations are ancient history.

What makes Sage Intergy PACS unique?

It was designed to utilize the power and flexibility of the Web. Users at all practice imaging locations, both local and remote, are accessing the same database, the same on-line all spinning disk archive, and the same toolsets. Indeed, the customers of radiology and the radiologists themselves share the same user interface. No matter where you are, the studies, reports and functionality are exactly the same regardless of their age or originating location.

Complete Control with Access from Anywhere

While the comprehensive functionality of Sage Intergy PACS allows radiologists to perform secure primary interpretation at anytime, from anywhere an Internet connection is available, the system also provides Web-based tools to manage system administration. The practice can set up separate user groups with customized toolsets, access privileges and preferences. As a result, radiologists can offer consultations to referring physicians at any location or share images with other professionals as needed, limiting image access as appropriate.

Keeping It Simple

Sage Intergy PACS was created using input from radiologists and clinicians. While everyone wants the best and most comprehensive functionality, they also want to keep it simple. As a result, this system doesn’t require pre-existing PACS software on workstations or PCs before an individual can get started accessing images. All you need to access imaging exams securely is a Web browser, and a live Internet connection.

Tools to Help You Manage Your Business

Managing an imaging facility is not just about radiologist workflow. Like any business, there are administrative and financial issues to be addressed as well. Sage Intergy PACS helps to reduce costs and improve management with innovative tools to help connect multiple sites, track images, and manage referring physician relationships.

Distributed Data Management

Store and Forward configuration provides multi-site installations with a cost-effective storage and high availability solution for remote sites. Remote sites can locally store images for a configured period of time. Images are copied to the central storage at a scheduled time of day where all images are then backed up. Images are maintained at the local sites for a pre-determined period of time for unrestricted access. Sage Intergy PACS has native intelligence to display imaging studies from the “closest” server, whether the study is local or remote, to minimize screen display time.

Business Continuity

Business Continuity allows remote sites to maintain workflow and productivity even when communication with the central database has been disrupted. In additionto Store and Forward, Business Continuity also employs a replicated database to remote sites.

In Connected State the remote site works as configured in Store and •Forward—the central database is replicated to remote sites.

In Disconnected State, disconnected remote sites use their replica of •the central database. New images are inserted into the replica, and local studies can be viewed.

During Reconciliation process, central and remote databases •automatically synchronize data. Most routine changes are resolved automatically. Replication can be scheduled at any time convenient to

the sites involved.

To further enhance your ability to access the data you need when you need it, Sage offers servers from Stratus Technologies. Stratus Servers feature redundant components that operate in lockstep. When this self-monitoring server identifies a problem, the affected

components are automatically removed from service while the rest of the server continues to operate normally. The server’s built-in diagnostics, automatic problem notification, and remote support capabilities enable issues to be resolved seamlessly. This solution reduces downtime and the burden on your staff while enhancing your ability to access patient and practice information.

PET-CT Fusion Processing Fusion allows superimposing CT and PET so that image location and slice thickness are re-calculated similar to MPR re-slicing. Independent CT and PET windowing allows users to fine-tune the displayed image. SUVs included.

Ortho Tools A robust orthopaedic planning application powered by Orthocrat TraumaCad has been integrated with Sage Intergy PACS to support pre-surgery templating and planning by simply logging into the system (Optional).

Slab Scrolling Variable Slice Thickness

The Slab Scrolling Variable Slice Thickness tool suggests an efficient approach to the large data set (multi-slice CT) navigation. Users can define slice thickness on the fly and easily change it any time while reading.

Dynamic MRI Viewing This feature allows side by side display of images in dynamic MR series from different runs. The ‘Load by Location’ feature can be configured as part of the user-defined layout.

Ultrasound Measurement On an ultrasound study, an ROI tool displays perimeter and area measurements.

CD-based Study Distribution System

CD-Film is appropriate for physicians who are not able or accustomed to utilizing the Web to access their patients’ images and is an excellent first step towards PACS. CD-Film Studio is a sophisticated image recording system capable of automatically receiving studies from any DICOM source and burning the study on CD along with an image viewing application similar to Sage Intergy’s DICOM Reference Viewer. The face of the CD can be automatically pre-printed with the institution’s logo, the patient name, and referring physician’s name as well as pertinent study information. CDs are burned using the IHE Portable Data for Imaging (PDI) standard, an exclusive in Web-based PACS.

Workflow Productivity Features Several additional features enhance workflow, including: An embedded DICOM Modality Worklist Generator; the ability to view orders and reports from prior exams on the PACS; Barcode-Launching of Study Viewer; Voice Recognition launching for dictation from the PACS; Access and load current and prior exams for simultaneous synchronized comparison viewing on single or multiple display configurations to eliminate “screen flipping”.

Lexicon for Key Images Lexicon is an extension for the key image pages. It holds labels that can be used on a printed page. Labels are organized in folders similar to a file system and can be changed or extended on the fly.

Permanent Labels for Key Images

This is another extension of the key image pages. Permanent labels are created on a key image template. They then appear on all key images created from such a template, can be printed on plain paper and are also burned to CD.

E-mail Notification for Referring Physicians

An approved final report from Sage Intergy RIS triggers an e-mail to the ordering physician. The e-mail contains a link to the patient’s study and study list with all studies of interest to the ordering physician.

Referring Physician Viewing Physician

Our simplified viewing application displays the report and key images. It also has an option to compare current and prior reports or current and prior key images, within the same graphical user interface used by all users, including radiologists.
