2. INSTALLATION

1.4 Installation instructions

1.4.1 Preparing the furniture

• Only a correct installation according to the installation instructions will guarantee that the appliance functions reliably. The fitter is liable for any damage caused by incorrect installation.

• Installed furniture must be heat-resistant up to 90 °C, adjoining furniture fronts at least up to 75 °C.

• Perform all cutout work on furniture and worktop before installing the appliances. Remove sawdust which may impair the function of electrical components.

• The appliance junction box must be within the hatched area B or outside the installation room.

• There must be a gap of at least 5 mm between the appliance and adjoining furniture fronts.

• Secure unattached furniture to the wall with a standard bracket C.

1.4.2 Appliance under worktop

• A ventilation hole must be cut in the false floor of the modified cupboard.

• Attach worktop to built-in furniture.

• If the built-in oven is installed under a hob, follow the installation instructions for the hob.

1.4.3 Appliance in high-sided unit

To ventilate the oven, there must be a gap of approx. 20 mm between the false floors and rear wall. Do not install appliances with oven carriage so high that the baking sheets are difficult to remove.

1.4.4 Corner installation

Take dimensions D into account for installation in a corner. Dimension E is dependent on the thickness of the furniture front and the handle.

1.4.5 Securing the built-in appliance

• If appliance features an oven carriage, remove the oven carriage.

• Insert the appliance all the way and align centrally.

• Do not kink the power cord.

• Secure the appliance with screws (4x25).

• The gap between the worktop and appliance must not be sealed by additional strips.

1.4.5.1 Appliances with swing door in the high-sided unit:

If the gap between the appliance and the door situated below is greater than 4 mm, the enclosed cover strip can be attached. The cover strip cannot be fitted if appliances feature an oven carriage.

Automatic roasting

Automatic roasting is used for food in a closed utensil at a fixed temperature. A programme number and a weight are input. These inputs determine the cooking time which is stored in the oven control unit. Programme examples: Programme 1 Roast beef: Weight = 1 kg

Time = 2 h 15 min Temperature = 220 °C

Programme 10 Poultry legs: Weight = 1 kg Time = 1 h 22 min Temperature 300 °C Note: Do not input the total weight of the poultry legs but the weight of the heaviest leg.

Rapid heating up

This is activated by pressing the Rapid heating up button. During the heating up process the rapid heating up symbol is indicated. When the required temperature has been reached, a signal sounds and the rapid heating up symbol goes out. Rapid heating up is used to preheat the oven and can be switched on at any time provided the set temperature is at least 100 °C Rapid heating up is designed for top/bottom heating, special top/bottom heating, intensive heat, 3D hot air and pizza setting.

Application dishes

Under the Application dishes menu option there is an alternative setting option for the customer. The dish is selected via 2 or 3 selection levels. The dishes are on the last level. Return to the previous level with the "back" menu option on the 2nd and 3rd levels. If the dishes are not displayed, one or two info texts can be displayed via the Info button. To display a second text, press the Info button again. If the Info button is not pressed for a certain time or if the OK button is pressed, there is a return to the status from which the 1st Info was selected. When the indicated dish is selected with the OK button, a heating type is specified together with a suggested temperature and duration. On the graphic display next to the type of heating symbol a 3 x 10 character long text is indicated with the name of the dish from the last selection level. The customer can then still vary the temperature and the duration (after pressing the Clock button). The end can be set by pressing the Clock button again.

Some applications require a preheated oven. At the start of the heating process "Preheating" is added to the text. Rapid heating up is used. When the last temperature monitor segment switches on, a signal sounds once and "Insert" is added to the last line. The door contact switch (opens and closes again) detects that the food was inserted. The text is then indicated without any additions and the time starts running with the specified type of heating.

1.6 Additional functions by serve@Home

By using the system interface, the cooker / oven can now be integrated into the serve@Home network. Remote control, remote diagnosis, information/warning messages, status scans and different options for configuration are possible via the serve@Home operator interface (GUI). Further information is described in the serve@Home repair manual no. R010001.

1.6.1 Remote diagnosis

You can transmit fault messages together with the product number and customer address to customer service by SMS/e-mail.

1.6.2 Information and warning messages

Information and warning messages can be transmitted from the cooker / oven to the control unit.

1.6.3 Status scan

You can check at any time the current status of the cooker / oven and when the programme will end.

1.6.4 Remote control: “@” function

The serve@Home remote control function is switched on by activating the “@” function. The programme can be selected, changed and started.

1.6.4.1 Activating the “@ ” function

► Rotate function selector switch clockwise to position 1. ► „@“ is indicated on the clear text display.

In the serve@Home function the oven light switches off again after 5 minutes.

Terminating/stopping a programme, remote diagnosis, information/warning messages and status scans are also possible at any time even when the “@” function is not activated.

If the cooker / oven was started via the remote control unit, a “@” is also indicated on the temperature display.

Only status scans and software switch-off (displays on the hob flash) are possible on the hobs applicable to the cooker.

1.6.4.4 Appliance was switched off via the control unit.

► Programme is terminated, on the appliance the two “@”

symbols flash.

Appliance is switched off by software only. Function selector switch is still switched on.

When the programme ends or was switched off via the control unit, it cannot be restarted until the appliance has been switched off with the function selector switch.

1.7.1 Lock unit

When installed, the lock is open, i.e. the motor unit “clamps” the lock in the open position. If the Bowden cable tears, the door locks. When the Bowden cable is released, the bar pulls the door onto the seal and locks.

1.7.2 Motor unit

The motor unit is a complete component consisting of two limit switches, a door switch and a motor with transmission. The limit switch (S2) is responsible for stopping the motor and changing the direction of rotation for the next motor operation. The door switch (S1) issues the “door locked” signal when the electronics module is actuated. Pyrolysis is not started without feedback from the door switch.

1.8 Door contact

The door contact is a reed switch. This is installed under the panel and is actuated by means of a magnet in the door. When the door is opened, the circulating air motor and the heaters switch off, the oven light switches on. When the appliance is switched off and the door opened, the oven light switches on and the bulb symbol on the display comes on.

Activation:

1.12 Sabbath programme

The Sabbath programme heats the oven at a temperature from 23:50 until 00:10 the day after next. During this time the oven can be heated up or kept warm without having to switch the oven on or off. Activation: The Sabbath programme is offered as the last programme in automatic programming. To select the Sabbath programme, press the OK button. When the heating process starts, the duration is indicated on the clock display. This counts down, starting at 24:20 hours. Following activation of the Sabbath programme the temperature can be changed at any time. Duration and end cannot be changed. When the duration has elapsed, a signal sounds. On the graphic display: Deactivation: Rotate the function selector from position P back to the zero position.

1.13.2 Time display

Here you can select whether the time is always to be displayed or only when the oven or hotplate is used. The following is indicated as a default on the graphic display: The display is changed by rotating the bit generator. When this is selected, the LEDs are actuated at night from 22:01 to 5:59 at reduced luminosity only. Unless the oven or the hotplates are being used. In this case the illumination is increased to full luminosity. The display is changed by rotating the bit generator. When this is selected, the clock light does not switch on unless the oven or hob is on. Otherwise the light is switched off. The particular selection is accepted by pressing the OK button.

To ensure that fan run-on is as short as possible (energy-saving) or the door does nort become steamed up, the customer can select the length of the fan run-on. When the fan has run on for the minimum time for a type of heating, the subsequent course of the temperatures is specified on the printed circuit board of the display module and in the oven. 1.14 Operating time limit

The function of the oven safety limit is to switch off a manually set oven mode after a specific time depending on the temperature set in the cooking compartment or the selected type of grilling. The operating time limits dependent on temperature or type of heating are listed in the following table:

When the operating time limit is reached and the heaters switch off, this display is retained and the buzzer sounds (signal 1). 1.17 Pyrolysis mode

The appliances feature three possible Pyrolysis settings. These Pyrolysis settings are illustrated in the following table:

After the Pyrolysis setting (1, 2 or 3) has been selected and after a brief delay, the appliance starts heating up. Approx. 4 min after Pyrolysis has started, the door lock is activated. When the control module has locked the door, the padlock is displayed. While Pyrolysis is running, the time is indicated on the clock display. The Pyrolysis symbol and the text for the selected setting are indicated on the graphic display. The time counts down in the background and is not displayed. When the door is locked, the appliance heats up until the stagnation temperature is reached. This temperature consists of a fixed value of 465 °C and the Pyrolysis offset value. The offset value has been preset at the factory to 0K. When the maximum heating duration expires (dependent on the Pyrolysis setting), the heating elements switch off. The door is unlocked at the unlocking temperature (below 300 °C).

1.18 Temperature monitor

The temperature monitor is used for types of heating with temperature display only and indicated during operation only. For “temperature monitor in zero position” see under residual heat display. Model 1 (Bosch) has 6 temperature monitor segments on the temperature display. Model 2 (Siemens) has 5 temperature monitor segments only. When approx. 90% of the set temperature is reached, the last segment of the temperature monitor is actuated. The other segments are calculated by a formula on the basis of the set temperature.

1.20 Button for oven light

The button in the function selector actuates the oven light. During Pyrolysis and at temperatures below 60 °C the oven light remains switched off! The light button has no function in the zero position and in the oven light position. When the function selector is rotated and the temperature increased from 59 °C to 60 °C, the oven light comes on. Exceptions: Defrosting; the oven light remains off or the light button was pressed previously causing a switch from automatic to manual light control. Otherwise the light button can always be used to change the status of the oven light between on and off. Example: When the type of heating has been selected, the light button is pressed. The oven light switches off. Duration and end are set. During the waiting period before the end press the light button: the light comes on. Press the button again to switch the light off. The start of the duration has no effect on the light. It stays off. The light switches on again only if the oven door is opened or the function selector rotated.

1.21 Illuminated rings

The illuminated ring on the function selector is lit statically if the function selector is situated outside the zero position. The illuminated ring in the bit generator does not come on unless settings are possible, i.e. if nothing can be set, the illuminated ring remains dark. If a temperature or setting is selected for the first time, the illuminated ring flashes. The illuminated ring also flashes for all other settings such as times, automatic programming, application dishes or initialisation. When a temperature or setting is accepted, the illuminated ring is lit statically. Even if the temperature or setting is changed during operation, the illuminated ring remains lit.

6. REPAIR

1.22 Emergency lock release

If the door lock is defective when locked, the door must be released manually. A size 3 Allen key and universal or pipe pliers are required to release the door lock. Execution:

1. Cover the door handle with a tea towel (risk of scratching). 2. Pull the locked door forwards slightly. 3. Insert the Allen key between the panel and door on the right

next to the locking hook. 4. To release the door, pull the Allen key to the left with the

universal or pipe pliers. Alternatively a telephone card can be used instead of the Allen key.

1.23 Removing the lock unit

1. Remove the upper cover and rear panel. 2. Remove the motor and transmission from the motor unit. (Fig.

1) 3. Now insert a wide screwdriver into the shaft holder of the motor

unit and turn it one half revolution in an anti-clockwise direction to release the Bowden cable. (Fig. 2)

4. If appliances feature a ventilator fan, remove the fan and undo the screw situated underneath.

5. Remove all screws from the air duct and the intermediate plate. 6. Detach the panel and fold back onto the air duct. 7. If appliances do not feature a ventilator fan, there is a cover

plate under the air duct for the fumes outlet. Remove the cover plate and undo the screw situated underneath. (Fig. 3 identified by 1)

8. Now undo the two fastening screws on the lock unit in the front area of the intermediate plate. (Fig. 4 identified by 1)

9. Raise the intermediate plate slightly and pull the lock unit forwards.

10. Detach the Bowden cable from the lock unit.

If the cable breaks, the plunger is pushed to the right by its compression spring and the lock is locked. If a Pyrolysis process is running, this is stopped as S1 is not actuated. The consequence of the cable break is that the door can now only be unlocked manually. (see Emergency lock release)

These appliances are manufactured with doors hinged on the left or right. However, in special cases the doors may have to be hinged on the other side. This conversion requires certain new parts. Time expenditure approx. 1.5 hours Required parts: 1x front panel bonded, with adhesive profiles and swivel arm on

the hinge 1x striker plate 1x set of adhesive strips 2x bolts with Loctite coating 1x right or left retaining plate for complementary hinge Conversion instructions:

1. Take the appliance out of the cavity and remove the switch compartment cover.

2. Undo the screws on the switch front panel and remove the switch front panel.

3. Undo the upper threaded pin on the hinge (Torx T10), keeping hold of the door; then remove the door.

4. Remove the adhesive strip and clean the adhesive area. 5. Remove the hinge arms on the cooker side (undo 4 screws;

pull out upper hinge arm forwards) 6. Remove the die cast aluminium striker plate. 7. Remove the side retaining plates. 8. Remove plastic part for screwing the cooker to the furniture

from one retaining plate and push onto the other, new retaining plate and screw on the new retaining plates.

9. Replace plastic parts crosswise on the hinge arms on the cooker side.

10. Remove the bolt from the hinge arm on the cooker side; screw new bolt into the other hinge arm and tighten well. Do not use the old bolt!!

11. Fit the hinge arms point symmetrically to the new hinge side; tighten hand-tight.

12. Dismantle the door completely and replace the front panel with a new one.

13. Fit the new die cast aluminium striker plate to the side opposite the hinge arms. Do not use the old one!!

14. Hang the door on the lower bolt and close. 15. Screw in the new, upper bolt. Do not use the old one!! 16. Attach and secure switch front. 17. Adjust the position of the door with respect to the switch front

(gap in the middle for appliances with SR: 10+1 mm, for appliances without SR: 8+1 mm). Door must not brush against anything; adjust the door by loosening the four screws on the hinge arms on the cooker side and move the hinge arms; following the adjustment tighten all four screws well!!

18. Attach new adhesive strips. 19. Install appliance and screw into place.

1.27.1 Starting the test programme:

The test programme can be accessed according to the following options:

1. When the appliance is switched off, press the rapid heating up button and the clock button. While pressing the buttons, rotate the function selector from the zero position to any other switch position.

2. Set function selector to Intensive heat and the temperature to 30 °C. Press the rapid heating up button and increase the temperature to 36 °C.

Test mode is acknowledged by the “test” symbol lighting up. All segments are lit on the temperature and clock display. The rapid heating up symbol flashes continuously during test mode. Press the rapid heating up button to progress through the test steps.

1.29 Fault codes

Display Fault Response of the cooker if a fault occurs Er 0 Incorrect module combination

installed Following a main reset, the control and power module identifies the model of the operating and display board. If the two modules do not belong together, the display module outputs this fault code. The cooker can no longer be controlled and cannot be operated.

Er 1 Temperature sensor PT500 interrupted (e.g. not connected or cable break)

An interruption in the temperature measurement corresponds to a very high temperature in the analysis. When the maximum value is determined, this fault code occurs. This fault is detected within 10 sec. The cooker is not heating. The fans switch on. After correctly measuring the temperature at least twice, the fault is deleted again and the cooker continues heating.

Er 2 Incorrect mains connection (400 V instead of 230 V)

No consumers are switched on.

Er 3 Electronics module is overheating (temperature on printed circuit boards above 85 °C)

If printed circuit board temperatures measured on the electronics module are above the stored temperature limit value, the cooker switches the heaters off and the fans switch to fan run-on. When the temperature has dropped by more than 5 K below the limit value, the fault display is deleted and the appliance can heat up again.

Er 4 Temperature sensor PT500 short-circuited

A short-circuit in the temperature measurement corresponds to a very low temperature in the analysis. When the minimum value is determined, this fault code occurs. This fault is detected within 10 sec. The cooker is not heating. After correctly measuring the temperature repeatedly, the fault is deleted again and the cooker continues heating.

Er 5 Communications fault

No communication can be established between E3minus or the display and control module. The modules then actuate a reset in the other module in order to re-establish communication.

Er 6 Oven does not lock (e.g. defecting locking unit)

If the oven door is not locked even after the specified number of attempts, the locking process is terminated. Pyrolysis can no longer be operated.

Er 7 Oven does not unlock (e.g. defecting locking unit)

If the oven door is still locked even after the specified number of attempts, the unlocking process is terminated. The oven can no longer be operated.

Er 9 Error during ROM check Following a reset the controllers implement a ROM check. If a fault is detected, all heaters switch off.

Er 10 Error during DataFlash check Following a reset the controllers implement a DataFlash or PROM check. This check does not include the whole memory but only the area relevant to the control parameters. If a fault occurs, all heaters switch off. The fans continue running as in fan run-on.

Display Fault Response of the cooker if a fault occurs Er 11 A button is actuated continuously After a button has been actuated continuously for xx seconds, this fault code is generated.

The button is then no longer functional. When the continuous actuation has been eliminated, the fault code is deleted and the button is functional again.

Er 12 Defective temperature sensor on the electronics module

This fault is not displayed! All functions which revert to the electronics module temperature run as if the temperature were low.

Er 13 Power too high If the power of the heating elements to be actuated is higher than the stored maximum power which may be actuated, this fault code is indicated. The heating process is terminated. Following correct power measurement, the fault is cleared and the cooker continues heating up. The entire function has been designed exclusively as an aid for development phase and testing and may no longer actually occur in the field.

Er 14 Plausibility check If data to be used for control is outside the defined range, this fault code is displayed. The heating process is terminated. After the type of heating has been changed, the fault is deleted and the cooker can heat up again.

Er 15 Cooker too hot If the actual temperature is above 380 °C, the heating elements switch off and the oven is locked. The oven door does not unlock until the temperature drops below 300 °C again. (This fault does not occur if Pyrolysis runs correctly).
