NG as fuel | Trends
• Natural Gas is the fastest growing fuel type 1.9% per annum
• Gas gains share steadily, while Oil share falls in energy demand
• By 2035 Coal-Oil-Gas will have a 26-28% share of primary energy
• 1/3 of the increase in energy demand is provided by Gas
Greece is emerging as a prominent location for LNG bunkering, mainly for 3 reasons:• It is a material bunkering market today, supplying 1.7 MTOE of
marine fuel or roughly 1% of global bunkering demand;• It receives LNG cargoes from multiple sources and diversified
routes; this enhances security of both large- and small-scale LNG supply;
• The use of LNG as marine fuel will provide both regional and local environmental benefits from lower air pollution.
Bunkering market for ferries and cruisers can target ~415 Mcm by 2030
Of the ~15 cruise ships bunkering in Greece, ~4 are expected to be fueled with LNG – for a total of 160 Mcm / year by 2030
Potential of LNG bunkering market in Greece Global Gas Report 2019
“The transport sector provides thegreatest long-term growth opportunity inGreece and all EU markets, but dependson policy support to promoteconsumption and infrastructuredevelopment”.
“Realizing the potential of natural gas requires consistent support and coordinated action by industry
and national governments”.

perspectives
The added value of Revithoussa
❑ A perfect environment for setting
up the LNG bunkering hub for
the region:
✓ Security of fuel supply:
storage capacity up to
225.000cm3
✓ Proximity to the core port of
Piraeus & key geographic
position for the supply of
satellite storage installations
✓ Third party access regime in
favor of LNG pricing

Small Scale LNG & Bunkering
• Designs are executed within the framework of PMII project.
• DESFA is the Technical Coordinator of the project due to its expertise in LNG infrastructures operation.
The establishment of a local LNG bunkering
market, requires coordinated actions by industry and national
authorities
Our goals
▪ Breaking the egg-chicken dilemma▪ Develop a safe and robust bunkering supply chain▪ Develop synergies with key stakeholders
DESFA “invests” in cooperation, on European, regional and national level, since is the only way to overcome LNG bunkering barriers.
❑ Founding member MLN• An initiative aiming at the smooth and
rapid integration of LNG in the mix ofmarine fuels, in the context of promotingsustainable and environmentally friendlypropulsion technologies.
• A platform of systematic cooperation thatbrings together marine LNG actors (ship-owners, energy companies, classificationsocieties, port authorities, shipyards, research institutes and others), aiming toexchange knowledge and good practices onLNG operational aspects.
❑ In depth market research with the support of leading
management consulting firms
• Deep dive on regulation for high-emission fuels phase out
• Comprehensive ferry-by-ferry analysis of Greek fleet
• Evolution of cruise routes analysis, surveying 1672 unique routes and 14 key operators to gauge potential for LNG bunkering in Greece
• Desk research on ferry and cruise operators’ LNG plans / orders
• Interviews with cruise and ferry operators
• Estimation of potential market and ramp-up timeline
❑ Participation in key EU regional projects
Our efforts
❑ Small Scale LNG: new market segment that bridges the gas markets.
❑ Natural Gas is the fastest growing fuel type.
❑ Greece is transforming into an LNG bunkering hub for LNG in South Eastern Europe, with DESFA operating its backbone infrastructure, Revithoussa LNG Terminal.
❑ DESFA strongly contributes to the establishment of a safe and robust bunkering supply chain in the region, by investing both in regional initiatives and in depth market research.
❑ Safety is first: safety and security in LNG operations is maintained at a very high level, especially considering the very low historical accident/incident rate of the industry (upstream/ midstream & downstream). This excellent safety record is a result of the LNG industry’s stringent design practices and diligent operating standards, enhanced and supported by strong regulatory oversight.
❑ Cooperation and synergies are the key tools to overcome LNG barriers.
