The newness of the language and setting can make study abroad students

particularly susceptible to violence. - Harvard OSAPR

or international students. - Ann Fleck-Henderson

DIVERSITY ENHANCEMENTINTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Bernabas Sleshi
International students are a special group of students and must be presentated with information appropriately. The harvard office of Sexual assault and prevention & Response shared these tips on how to stay safe for international students and those studying abroad: Ignore it if at all possible,Avoid large groups of men,Observe the local women and mimic the behavior,Act confident. Our focus groups have shown us that many international female students do not know what considers sexual assault in the US and thus may deem certain behaviors normal which are considered sexual assault. the same article I just mentioned also blames newness of language and setting as contributing to increasing vulnerability. We plan on filing this gap by adding detailed and exhaustive explanation of what sexual assault is and exhaustive examples. secondly we will make language simple with the help of consultants in order for students of all background to comprehend the content and in the future may offer the content in different languages. we will also add resource such as the National Immigrant Women’s Advocacy Project (NIWAP) which are appropriate for this group of people.

Ø Detailed and exhaustive explanation of types of sexual assault and exhaustive

examples

Ø Virtual training on sexual assault using visual aid

Ø Simple verbiage

Ø Offer content in different languages

Appropriate resources in information and awareness such as National Immigrant

Women’s Advocacy Project (NIWAP)
