ADVA – QUICK FLASHBACK TECHNOLOGY NEEDLEWhen an IV cannula is normally inserted into the vein, blood travels

up the needle into the flashback chamber, confirming venepuncture.

However, Sentra Medical IV cannulas are manufactured with ADVA

Technology Needles, providing a quick and immediate confirmation

of venepuncture through the observation of a “primary flashback”

blood flow through the catheter body before the “secondary

flashback” in the flashback chamber is observed. This technology is

a major benefit to users and patients by reducing the incidence of

transfixation and re-cannulation, even in weak-veined patients.

As a result, there are a number of unique and innovative features on our safety IV cannula to help improve the cannulation process for both the user and patient alike.

THIN-WALL NEEDLE TECHNOLOGYTo further enhance the cannulation procedure, Sentra Medical

cannulas have also been manufactured using thin-wall needle

technology, which increases the amount of blood travelling up the

cannula, as well as the rate at which it travels up the needle, during

venepuncture. This significantly reduced the flashback time and thus

venepuncture confirmation.

The safety clip featured on all Sentra Medical safety IV cannulas

completely and permanently covers the needle tip upon activation.

The safety clip is plastic and thus does not itself pose a risk to users

when activated by scratching them or cutting their skin. It is also

small and compact, and completely covers the needle to minimise/

eliminate the risk of blood splatter. Most importantly, it cannot be

removed once activated. The safety clip and needles are designed to

provide the least withdrawal resistance and activation force of all

safety cannulas on the market, meaning there is little or no risk of

dislodging the catheter when pulling the needle out of the catheter

and activating the safety clip.

ENHANCED SAFETY CLIP

The SentraNeo Safety has a very small rounded push-plate on the body of the cannula which users can hold on to during insertion, and then use to push the catheter forward after insertion. It also has small flexible fixed wings to allow for secure fixation. SentraNeo Safety is one of the most unique safety cannulas specially designed for paediatrics and neonatals.

The SentraWin Safety non-ported non-winged cannula is ideal for users requiring a cannula that is small in size, without a port or wings.
