SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION 2013

The election filing period for two Bells ISD school board seats will begin Wednesday, January 30, 2013, and end Friday, March 1, 2013, at 5:00 p.m. Applications can be picked up at the BISD Superintendent’s office, 1550 Ole Ambrose Rd., Bells, Texas.

The election will be May 11, 2013, with early voting from April 29 to May 7, 2013. All voting will take place at Bells City Hall, 203 S. Broadway Street, in Bells.

MOVING FORWARD WITH TECHNOLOGY Integrating technology into classroom instruction means more than teaching basic computer skills and software programs in a separate computer class. Effective tech integration must happen across the curriculum in ways that research shows deepen and enhance the learning process. In particular, it must support four key components of learning: active engagement, participation in groups, frequent interaction and feedback, and connection to real-world experts. Effective technology integration is achieved when the use of technology is routine and trans-parent and when technology supports curricular goals. As part of the BISD District Improvement Plan, strategies are included that promote technology-enabled proj-ect learning as a best practice for engaging students in classroom instruction. Learning through projects while equipped with technology tools helps students acquire the necessary skills in the content area, but also help stu-dents to learn problem solving skills that will help them be productive workers in the global marketplace. While technology is forever-changing, keeping up with the latest in technology is a challenge for all school districts; however, at Bells ISD we believe when effectively integrated into instruction, educators are more likely to reach different types of learners and assess student understanding through multiple means. In essence, technology helps make teaching and learning more meaningful and fun, which is why Bells ISD administrators are commit-ted to providing as many resources as possible to keep technology in the classroom.
