A Guide to Help Your Baby Sleep Safely

Safer Sleep, Sweeter Dreams

Swaddling Helps Babies Soothe & Sleep

• Snug swaddling soothes babies by recreating the familiar snugness of being in the womb.• Swaddling decreases the incidence of the startle reflex which frequently wakes babies.

Providing a proper sleep environment is one of the most important things you can do for your baby. If done correctly, swaddling can be a safe and practical way to help promote sleep for your child since infants who are swaddled during sleep have been found to startle less and sleep longer.

Babies change a lot in the first year of life. The developmental needs of a newborn are very different from a 6 month old or 1 year old. Developed with safe sleep experts, Summer Infant has created a line of products to keep your baby sleeping safe and sound at every stage.

So whether you have a newborn who needs the familiar snugness of the womb, or toddler who needs a little extra comfort – everyone gets more sleep with SwaddleMe!

Sleep Stages

*Because every baby reaches developmental milestones like rolling over and pulling up to standing at different times, this chart is meant to serve as a guideline. Check with your pediatrician for the right time to transition your baby from one SwaddleMe solution to the next. You can also reference

Baby Touch® 2Digital Video MonitorWhat is SIDS?

SUDDEN INFANT DEATH SYNDROME (SIDS) is a sudden, unexpected death of an apparently healthy infant under one year of age that cannot be attributed to other causes. Most SIDS deaths occur when a baby is between 2 and 4 months old. Approximately ninety percent of all SIDS deaths occur before 6 months of age.

Recent research indicates that there may be a biological predisposition to SIDS - a finding that may help better identify babies at riskand prevent more SIDS deaths.

The following guidelines can help you and baby get a better night’s sleep:

Use a swaddle wrap or a

wearable blanket (instead of a

typical blanket)

Always put baby to sleep ontheir back

Don’t dress baby too warmly and

keep the temperature

between 67–72ºF

67ºF

72ºF

Do not allow anyone to smoke

near yourbaby, especially while sleeping

Throughout baby’s first year consider offering a pacifier

to help themfall asleep

Breastfeeding is soothing for babies

& helps keeptheir immune

systems strong

Monitoring your sleeping baby can give you peace of mind
