SRC Speeches SRC speeches will be held this week on Thursday, for the current Year 4 students, and Friday, for the current Year 5 students. These will be held in the school hall from 12:00pm on both days. Please ensure your child is prepared for this occasion as it takes plenty of courage to stand up in front of the school and ask for their vote, and students who participate in this learn a lot about public speaking. Please note, teachers are not able to assist students with speeches as teachers need to remain impartial thus speeches need to be prepared at home. Parents are openly invited to attend the speeches and support their children as they vie for positions on the Junior and Senior SRC for 2020. Presentation Day 2019 Our annual Presentation Day will be held next Tuesday 10th December at 10am in the school hall. This will highlight individual student achievement over the last year. Students receiving an award will be notified with a letter by the end of this week. We invite our whole school community to come along. I would choose to control time so I can do whatever I want whenever I want. Q2. Your teacher is actually a witch! One day, she gets tired of you not paying attention and zaps you into a novel. Which novel would you hope she zapped you into and why? Harry Potter because people like to read Harry Potter. Q3. If you could time travel, would you go to the past or the future? The Department’s Revised Enrolment Policy

What has changed? – part 2: the 100-point residential address check

Parents and carers planning to enrol their child at a school that is near or at its buffer or cap will be asked to complete the 100-point residential address check to confirm they live within the school’s designated intake area. This applies to all of the primary schools in Dubbo and means that parents and carers will need to provide documents to verify the child’s current address. A list of approved documents for the residential address check is available from the department’s website at https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/going-to-a-public-school/media/documents/Residential-address-check.pdf or from your child’s local school. To discuss this further, please feel free to make an appointment to meet with the Principal of your local school.

On Thursday 28th November, we had a special visit by Kirily who is blind and her support worker Annie. Students in Kindergarten, Stage 1, and the Support classes got to meet Kirily and find out about how she reads by using braille and also got to ask her some questions. It was a great experience for the students involved and they all enjoyed it. Thank you to Kirily and Annie.

Last Wednesday we held our last whole school assembly for the year. This was filled with lots of awards such as Principal Awards, Merit Awards, Students of the Week, Class Captain Awards, Staff Award, and along with many more. We also received the last two artworks that will be hanging in the office for the rest of the term. Congratulations to all who received awards and thank you to the SRC for hosting.
