across the world.Of course, from 1938 when the company was launched to today, many things have changed within ourgroup - there are some products we no longer offer and others that have appeared – but the business is stillfamily-owned. As a result, a strong culture has been passed on, from the days of the brass bars that we usedto cut from to today for precision turned parts, sub-assemblies or stainless steel wires, and that is our dedication to understanding the products and the activities that surround them. Similarly, our resolve for quality of service has developed across all our sites from the initial Arve valley and now throughout Europe,the Far East and the SADEVGROUP factories of Asia: we aim to deliver the exact product requested, whereyou need it, exactly when you need it. Accordingly, we stay abreast of developments across a broad rangeof industries: automation, electronics, cars, aeronautics, leisure… We also keep ourselves trained up onnew developments in products, technologies, professions, market globalisation, international freight…

So we feel it is fair to promote ourselves as a good supplier. A good supplier for mobile telephony in Malaysia, as for a nuclear power plant in Australia. A good supplier for optical fibre in the United States, asfor car doors in Spain. A good supplier for connector screws for Airbus, as for protective fencing for swimming pools…

• Staff with expertise.The key criteria for joining SADEVGROUP: knowledge, and a desire to learn. As a starting point, the men andwomen on our team are of course multilingual, and have the benefit of high-level studies or excellent experience in the profession. Year after year, we insist on providing at least 2 days of training in a relevantarea for every staff member, so as to constantly add to the skill base: manufacturing techniques, metals andtreatments, quality procedures, international trade…

This commitment and our dynamic environment ensure a stable workforce for us, and long-term workingrelationships with excellent counterparts for you.

• Controls and Quality Assurance.We play the part of the middle man, but that is no reason to neglect the key requirements of quality and traceability. On the contrary, we are glad to claim those responsibilities.

We control all received batches using all the usual means, as well as the most up to date techniques.

Our quality management system, certified by TÜV Rheinland, was first established in 1981 and we havebeen constantly adding to it and improving it since then.

Our IT system uses one of the leading market software packages, and is constantly being enriched thanksto the expertise of one of its creators, a manager within SADEVGROUP. One of its strengths is that it enablesus to handle all technical drawings down to the finest detail and to ensure traceability on all batches throughthe use of unique numbering.

We have learned, through the years, how to select the best-suited suppliers according to needs. We havebeen working with some suppliers for several generations! At the same time, in line with changes in the marketplace, we continue to refine the breadth of our offer. We constantly strive to optimise your products’time to market, and we are organised so as to ensure you have maximum flexibility: we can mobilize several partnering firms when there is an urgent need for large volumes and we can offer space and financialcapacity for storage of your orders.

We know what counts: our responses are precise, whatever the requirements, the size and the location ofyour company.

We can supply 500 parts to a small local company, just as we can supply 10 000 000 parts in China or Malaysia to an electronics or a mobile phone manufacturer. We can handle a ton of 8mm wire intended forthe manufacturing of hooks, just as well as 2 rolls of 40µm wire needed for medical filters. We can deliver tothe different sites of one company, even across continents…

• Factories and offices “specialised in Competitiveness” in the Far East.We offer three types of structure:

➜ a manufacturing subsidiary in Vietnam (SADEVINA), that has been certified ISO 900 by TÜV,

➜ a complete commercial structure in Shanghai, providing client relationship management, supplier

selection and control of parts,

➜ a production unit, working in partnership with a manufacturer for precision turned parts in Northern

China, to broaden our offer.

The reasoning behind this geographical spread: once again, our determination to meet your requirementsand expectations. These sites, initially set up to supply local markets, now also provide a reliable low costoption for you, in your own country. We take care of the challenge of working directly with our Asian counterparts, you get the benefit of an excellent balance of quality and competitiveness.

• Adapting to demand for storage, delivery and freight.Our aim is to be the “just in time” specialists: for your immediate needs, for delivery to various sites fromour selection of facilities, for planning regular stocking up…

Similarly, we are well placed from an industrial as well as a financial standpoint, for handling storage of orders. For example, we carry one of the largest stocks of stainless steel wire in Europe.

When it comes to delivery, our command of transport procedures and customs formalities enables us tooffer a service across all borders, from country to country and continent to continent.

It is routine for us to mobilize 10 manufacturers in order to put together the 150 differentparts to form a range of products. And we consider it just part of our job to be able to supply from the stan-dard range of some 200 grades of stainless steel, the most common grades as well as the less known ones.

• Customised supplier selection.As we have made a pre-selection of the best suppliers, we are able to respond quickly in order to find themost suitable supplier for you when you need one, whatever the language and whatever the country. We havealready made the investment in terms of geographic mobility and specific skills – technical, cultural and linguistic. We travel the distance, we evaluate, we take the time to develop good working relationships, fromthe Alps to the Himalayas, from the Atlantic to the Pacific.

• A complete service, from purchase through to final delivery.We select and evaluate your suppliers, we buy and control your products and we also package and deliveraccording to your requirements – our overall objective is to provide you with added value all the way downthe line. Thanks to the service we provide, there is no need for you to centralise your merchandise – we deliver across countries, all around the world. We can also store and deliver following your timelines andneeds, which enables you to free up valuable space and cash flow.

Finally, we even take care of insurance for you on all your deliveries!

In 1957, our company was the first to commission the manufacture of stainless steel bars in France forthe purpose of using them for precision turned parts. Our historical company culture has developed, resulting in our precise knowledge of materials; knowledge which includes a command of the differentappellations from one country to another. You can entrust us with your purchases of basic 304 grade aswell as purchases of duplex grades or high nickel content alloys, anywhere around the world.

• Proven knowledge of international trade best practices.We know all about different payment practices. This includes knowledge of the diversity of customs formalities to comply with, according to different pricings. We work with the best freight companies, selectedfor their reliability and value for money, and we have set up the most effective logistics for freight, by air,sea, road…, even by courier! This means more savings for you, in terms of procedure and staff effort.

• Financial capacity.Our profitability and wise management make us a strong partner for you, whether you want to invest in industrial equipment or in stockholdings. We can even bring in equity to help create a subsidiary that enables a western client to delocalise, as for SADEVINA in Vietnam.

In the beginning Against all odds, an entrepreneurial spirit and the passion for a trade.The 1930s. Rodolphe Moos and his family, originally from Ulm, decide to leave Nazi Germany and move to Luxemburg, where they set up their business dealing in brass bars.

1938. The family decides to move further afield, and chooses Annecy for its proximity to clients in the Arve valley - the Société Savoisienne des Métaux (SSM) company is launched.

1944-46. Despite having lost all worldly goods and endured great hardship, the Moos family starts up its business afresh in precision turned parts, and fights to gain new markets. The children travel, learn several languages and gain an international outlook.

1957. Following a trip to the United States, Robert Moos, son of the founder, commissions the manufacture ofthe first stainless steel bars in France, intended for the manufacture of precision turned parts. This is a decisive step: the company becomes a worldwide agent for this particular supplier – a steelworks in Lorraine.

Rapid growthThe will to expand, but always remaining at the heart of the profession.Trading in precision turned parts and stainless steel parts: our company continues to develop and to build itsreputation, based on its original passion and know-how, and avoiding the risks of branching out too much,despite the challenges and opportunities that constantly arise.

1978. The distribution deal with the steelworks in Lorraine comes to an end. For the first time, SSM starts a broad search for new suppliers.

In less than ten years, the Société Savoisienne des Métaux becomes the leading European distributor for stainless steel products. At the same time, SSM develops sales of screws, nuts and bolts and of precision turned parts.

1988. In a climate apt for consolidation, the company sells its name and activity to the UGINE group. Followingthis, the company is split in two: the holding company MOFRA and the Société Annécienne de Décolletage etde Visserie (SADEV) for the commercial activity.

A family tale,that forms part of the history of metal.

The groupNew products, new sites, new companies and a break from industry.1988 – 1999. After several years spent focussing on buying up and straightening out industrial companies suchas UGIVIS, a French leader in the stainless steel wire and screws sector, along with 3 other companies specia-lising in precision turned parts in the Arve valley, the Moos family decides to sell the manufacturing part of thebusiness. The company launches into a new area of priority: developing the trading side of SADEVGROUP, whichis complemented by SADEV BATIMENT INGENIERIE (SBI), a branch devoted to the expansion of manufacturingof fittings for glass façades.

2004. Launch of the SADEVINOX branch.

2007. A new name for the company: SADEVGROUP

Today, SADEVGROUP employs 150 people spread across:

➜ the headquarters in Seynod, near Annecy,

➜ the sales office in Germany,

➜ the SADEVINA manufacturing subsidiary in Vietnam,

➜ the commercial subsidiary in Shanghai,

➜ the Dalian XINDEV joint venture in Northern China.

The sons, grandsons and great grandsons of the founder have successfully carried the family heritage forward.The family values are passed on: a passion for the business, the commitment to maintaining a loyal team anda strong sense of ethics.

The Group is a Partner of the ‘Institut de Management de l’Université de Savoie’ (Business School at the RegionalUniversity) and a member of its Club of Companies – through this commitment we offer financial, teaching andnetworking support to the students.

Furthermore, on a worldwide level, SADEVGROUP contributes to helping people affected by armed conflicts aswell as to centres for physical rehabilitation in poorer countries.
