COURSE SYLLABUSfor
IT 33 : SYSTEMS ANALYSIS AND DESIGN(Course Code) (Course Title)
I. COURSE DESCRIPTION: In this course, the students will become familiar with the different phases ofinformation systems development. Discussions will concentrate on the initiation, analysis, design, development, implementation and maintenance of a system andthe different tools used in systems analysis and design. This course strikes abalance between the theoretical and applied aspects of systems analysis, presentingstate-of-the-art systems, procedures, methodology and software. These skills areapplied by allowing students to experience analyzing and designing a live systemfor a target client.(Pre-requisite Subject: Third Year Standing)
II. CREDIT UNITS: 3 units (Lecture 2 units; Lab 1 unit)
III. TIME DURATION: Ninety (90) Hours
IV. PLACEMENT: BSIT 3rd Year Standing
V. GENERAL OBJECTIVES: General ObjectivesAt the end of the course, the students are expected to:
To learn and demonstrate an understanding of systems analysis anddesign principles, concepts, and evaluation.
The student will be able to use system analysis and design models todetermine and specify information systems requirements and proposean information technology (IT) architecture for a real organization.
To work effectively in team to specify the requirements and design of aninformation system.
To orally present the results of a systems analysis and design project totarget client.
