A Letter from Father Tom *◊*◊*◊*◊*Una Carta del Padre Tom
Dear Parishioners,
Thank you for your prayers and support during the time of my surgery and during this time of recuperation. I have
begun rehabilitation with a physical therapist working with me three times per week. From one to two times per
week, a nurse visits me taking vital signs, checking on any swelling or bruising and taking all precautions that might
prevent blood clotting. I do physical therapy each day -- mainly specific exercises in either the sitting, standing or ly-
ing down positions. I walk every day with the use of a walker -- varying lengths each day. The pain medication helps
control the pain a lot of the time -- but, not all of the time. The hours I sleep vary from day to day. I have read a lot
more during this time and, yes, I was happy to see the University of Houston beat the University of Oklahoma on
their season-opener, Go Coogs!!! I will keep you posted as to how I am progressing. Please know that I regularly
pray for all of you. I am blessed to be able to serve the people of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Community. May
our Loving God continue to bless each of you and your families in all ways.
Your brother in Christ,
Fr. Tom
Queridos Feligreses,
He co-
Padre Tom

Welcome To Our Parish! If you and your family are new to the area and
wish to become members of Sacred Heart of Jesus
Church, or have attended our church but have not
yet registered, we welcome and invite you to pick
up a New Parishioner Registration Form. These
forms are available in the church foyer or the
parish office. The parish office is located in the
Parish Life Center. You can drop off the
completed form at the parish office, mail, or simply place it in the Sunday collection basket.
Thank you and welcome to our Parish family!
25th Sunday in Ordinary Time:
September 18th That we recognize everything we have is a gift
from God, including our money, and to gener-
ously share our wealth to support the mission of
our Church, locally and around the world. “No
servant can serve two masters. He will hate one and love the
other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot
serve God and mammon (wealth).” Luke 16:13 Is money a
“god” that you put before God? Giving money to support the
Church and other charity is a pillar of our Faith, just like
attending Mass every Sunday and participating in parish
ministry. Giving money frees us from being a slave to money
and increases our dependence on God and to trust that He will
provide all that we need.
Vocation Prayer Lord Jesus, up until now you have been quietly
preparing me to be your disciple. Now the time of
preparation is ending. I seem to hear you say to me as
once to Peter: “Will you also go away?” You were
saddened then by friends that failed you. But Peter did
not fail. “Lord,” he said, “to whom shall we go? You
have the words of eternal life.” I stand with Peter.
Through prayer and counsel, show me, Lord, where it
is in your vineyard that you want me to serve. Then
give me strength to be faithful. Mary, Mother and
Model, help me to respond in generous love to the call
of your divine son.

¿"Señor," dijo, "a
dónde iremos? Tú tienes palabras de vida eterna". Estoy a
María, madre y modelo, ayúdame a
