Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord, Welcome!

Happy Advent! I rejoice in your presence with the Sacred Heart worshiping community as we celebrate our Eucharistic Liturgy for the First

Sunday of Advent. You enrich our gathering through your prayerful participation. May this time in prayer lift your spirit and strengthen your faith. Thanks for joining us! Know I am grateful to you, the Parishioners of Sacred Heart, for your words of congratulations spoken or written in a card on the occasion of being honored as a Chaplain of His Holiness. The "Conferral of Papal Honors" takes place this Sunday at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul. As this "Conferral of Papal Honors" is also a tribute to the Sacred Heart Parish Community, I wish an invitation would be available for all who desired to attend. I regret that I am unable to offer an open invitation. Limited to 100 invitations, I decided to select representatives from Parish committees, like the Pastoral Council and Finance Committee, and Parish groups, such as the Legion of Mary and Hospitality. As I celebrate this honor, I celebrate you, the faithful community of Sacred Heart who have shared my journey as Priest for the past 18 years. On this First Sunday of Advent, Jesus, in our Gospel, urges this disciples, "Be watchful! Be alert!" As a parent is ever attentive to a newborn baby, so the disciples are to be alert, watchful so as not to fall

asleep. Sleeping here refers to being in sin. We are to be alert to any sin corrupting our soul. We are to be watchful for any temptation that would make us unprepared when the Lord comes. Be alert! Be watchful! God bless,

Fr. McKee
