Reflection Twenty-Second Sunday of Ordinary Time

Whatever state we find ourselves in, we are most peaceful when we admit we are simultaneously in confusion and commitment.

The deal is that commitment will result in our heading for the “House of Peace” where to gain that peace, there will be dying's and

ultimately risings. We too are shown slowly the invitation and its human aspects and each eventually makes and lives the “deal”.

“O Lord, how great is the depth of the kindness which you have shown to those who love you.”

Ministry News Elizabeth Bochiardy is one of our parishioners that we visit on Fridays with Holy Communion.

Elizabeth grew up on Faulkner St. here in New Smyrna except during the war when her father was stationed in Pennsylvania and the family relocated there for a short time. Elizabeth & her husband Paul were married by Fr. Joseph Driscoll at Sacred Heart Church in 1949. At that time the church was located on Faulkner Street. They raised four children , all were

baptized at Sacred Heart.

Paul passed away last year.

Elizabeth’s nickname is Betty Boop, the cartoon character that became popular when Elizabeth was a young girl.

“There are different gifts but the same Spirit, there are different ministries but the

same Lord . . . To each person the manifestation of the spirit is given for the

common good.” Every person is called to contribute to the liturgy in a manner suited to his or her unique talents. It takes the help of many people serving in a variety of differ-ent liturgical ministries to help the liturgy flow smoothly and enable the participation of the assem-bly. At the present time there is a serious need for volunteers in all ministries at St. Gerard’s. We invite you to prayerfully reflect on the gifts God has given you and consider volunteering your talents for one of our ministries.

Training: Training is provided to help you get started in all the listed ministries.

Scheduling: Liturgical ministers are scheduled at the Mass time of their preference as often as fits their schedule and are asked to arrive 30 minutes be-fore their scheduled Mass begins.

Contact: Please see list of ministries, below. Call the leader of the ministry you are interested in to vol-unteer or for further information.
