Sacrament of Ordination

› It is a permanent state. Once a person is ordained, he can never back out. Even if he backed out, the sacrament is already in him and can never be reversed.

› It is the process of incorporating a person into a higher state of service in the ministry.

› People who are ordained falls under the Ministerial category of Priesthood.

Qualifications

› Only males are allowed to receive this sacrament.

› He should already receive the sacrament of Baptism and Confirmation.

› Proper studies and sufficient knowledge is required. Before a person can be ordained, he has to undergo 4 years study of Bachelor Degree in Philosophy and another 4 years study of Theology.

› Love for Christ, Holiness of Life, and Love for Souls. The ministry was built in order for people to serve God and other fellows.

Qualifications

› A calling or desire in you to be ordained. The Calling from God is very important because it will be impossible for a man to live a sustained monastic life if you are not really called.

› A letter of request of ordination has to be submitted to the church by the person who wished to be ordained. This will serve as the official document that states that the person chooses to be ordained on his free will, and that he was not forced into priesthood.

› Presentation to the public of the candidate for ordination is required before he will be ordained.

The Bishop is the only minister of this sacrament. This is because Bishops are the only ones who have the fullness of living a spiritually sustained life. Bishops are also considered as the successors of the apostles.
