RENOVAR Y CELEBRAR
RENOVATE & CELEBRATE
This weekend a second collection will be taken during all the masses. The Renovate and Celebrate campaign was launched several years ago with the sole purpose of maintaining the integrity and beauty of our historic structures and grounds. Shortly, we will be meeting with Fr. John, our new pastor, and setting new goals with the funds we are setting aside. We thank you for your contin-ued support.

THANK YOU! ¡GRACIAS!
Paz, P. John
Dear Friends in Mission,
Next weekend is World Mission Weekend. At Mass next weekend we recommit ourselves to our common vocation, through Baptism, to be missionar-ies, through prayer, participation in the Eucharist, and by giving generously to the collection for the Propagation of the Faith.
This year, Pope Francis addressed his World Mission Weekend message to us as we live out the adventure of being children of God. What a wonder-ful way to imagine the mission we have received from the Lord. It is a revitalizing adventure. When all the children of God, at every stage of life, reflect on the fact that our lives are a mission, our faith re-mains forever young.
Together with children of God in every corner of the globe, we become voices for mission, providing the prayerful and financial support necessary to re-flect the Lord’s mercy and bring concrete help to the most vulnerable communities.
In a world where so much divides us, World Mission Weekend rejoices in our unity as children of God, His missionaries! And it provides an opportuni-ty to support the life-giving presence of the Church among the poor and marginalized in more than 1,111 mission dioceses.
As I mentioned in a previous column, we will also celebrate World Mission Weekend by asking you all to prayerfully consider your generosity to the “mission of our Mission.” The following week, we will follow up with Commitment Sunday. Thank you for your continuing generosity to the mission of the Church and the mission of the Mission.
Peace,
Fr. John

San Gabriel Mission Elementary School Kindergarteners Benefit from Grant Awarded to Mission
As a Loyola Marymount University PLACE graduate student, our new Kindergarten teacher, Ms. Roma-nach, applied for and was awarded a grant to purchase something spe-cial for the Kindergarten classroom to improve student learning. Through the grant Ms. Romanach was able to purchase 3 Osmo Geni-us Kits that will be shared among the primary classrooms! In this pho-to students are using the kits in math centers. Students improve their critical thinking skills to complete tangram figures. The devices can also be used to create "Osmo Words" games to practice sight words and can be used for other enrichment activities as well. We welcome Ms. Romanach to our Mission family!
