SA is a user-friendly app aimed at students who struggle or cannot be motivated to revise.

Its core function is to create revision question from user inputted revision material.

It could be expanded to cover different methods or revising, such as mind maps or audio recordings.

It would also track user’s progression with achievements and a timeline of their completed revision throughout the school year (for unit tests) and during revision time.

We are developing an app that is suitable for anyone to revise with. It is aimed primarily at students who find it hard to revise, but is equally applicable for anyone else. It aims to make revision more enjoyable and efficient with users being able to make test questions for themselves by simply typing their revision as they go along.

Competitors

There are not masses of revision apps available but almost all that do exist are based on a unadaptable revision courses from publishers. This means that you cannot revise anything that is not on the curriculum or in your own way. In our app, we aim to allow the user to input their own content which means that the possibilities of topics is limitless. Although eventually we could include curriculum revision guides to further support the users.

MVP User

The ideal user will be someone who wants to revise in a portable, simple, fun and effective way. They would take advantage of having all of their revision in one place and the opportunity of being able to revise anywhere at any time. Many of the people like this would have previously struggled with revision; such as a lack of time, finding it tedious, using resources or lack of portability. We hope to address all of these problems to make it easier for the average person who does not revise, to revise.

Feasibility

The foundation of the app is very feasible as many technology based revision and learning sources have been very successful. This is because many young people searching for a modern and technological way of revising. Also, our app has unique features mentioned previously, such as infinite revision possibilities. This means that iit will stand out as an app that has a large target audience even though focused at students. Finally, we would integrate the feature of sharing revision which would allow even people who find it more challenging to share their revision to help others. The combination of these three strengths is why we believe our app will be successful.

Business caseWe would have a free and paid version of the app. The free would have the core-functions of a test maker, whereas the paid version would include: mind map making, audio and video creation and published curriculum revision guide viewing. The published revision guides would most likely be bought as several add-ons to prevent the app’s price from being unnecessarily high. We would also target schools to by the app in bulk, for students to use as a resource like services such as MyMaths and Pearson interactive resources. We would consider expanding the app for schools by adding features to help the students and teachers interact within the app, allowing it to possibly cover all aspects of school like a school planner. The base price of the paid version would be around £1-2 to allow students and schools to buy it at a reasonable price.

Marketing strategy. One of our initial ideas of a marketing strategy to allow it to appeal for a large range of ages, is the different design options. We would allow young children to have a very colourful app design to encourage them to use the app and find it enjoyable and engaging. A more refined design yet still vibrant design would be used for secondary school students, and finally a more subtle design for adults and university students. To gain advertising for the suitable audience, we would aim to provide advertisement for publishers’ academic books and ask for their recommendation of our app. Overall, the theme of our app would be very vibrant to portray the enjoy ability of the app, whilst still looking professional enough for higher academic users to use.
