The work and witness of the Church in the diocese, in vale and valley, in city and suburb, in town and village, is part of the unceasing worship offered by the wider Church of Almighty God.In our diocese, the mother church, Llandaff Cathedral remembers the parishes, clergy, committees, specialist ministries and the people each day at the Eucharist. The diocese is asked to pray for the work of the Cathedral in its servant role and especially on those days in which your parish is remembered at the Cathedral.The titles of the Sundays and other days are from the Church in Wales Lectionary for 2018/19 Year B, Weekdays Year II.

and entrust the night to God.A peaceful way to draw the day togetherbefore God, and ask him to forgive and remake our failings, to bless all that has been good, to both give thanks for grace received, and to pray for those for whom the nightwill be long and difficult,and in faith to look forward to the challenges and joys of the day to come.The hymn expresses our trust in God to receive our prayer.The psalm is a cry of faith for protectionand a desire to align ourselves with his will.The Song of Simeon and the words of Jesusfrom the Cross “Into your hands we commend ourselves this night”,express in a timeless way our linkswith all who have placed their trust in Godnow and at the hour of death –(the ultimate test of trust).We do so in the power of the saving graceof our crucified and risen Lord:“for you have redeemed us, O Lord God of truth”.

Ultimately, whether we live or die, awake or asleepwe seek to be safe in the arms of Christ:“at peace”.Whether we pray this night prayer with othersor totally alone,we are praying with the whole churchliving and departedthrough these words and the silent hours of the night.until we greet afresh the Bright Morning Star –
