Easter Joy

Jesus came to earth,To show us how to live,How to put others first,

How to love and how to give.

Then He set about His work,That God sent Him to do;

He took our punishment on Himself; He made us clean and new.

He could have saved Himself,Calling angels from above,

But He chose to pay our price for sin;He paid it out of love.

Our Lord died on Good Friday,But the cross did not destroy

His resurrection on Easter mornThat fills our hearts with joy.

Now we know our earthly death,Like His, is just a rest.

We'll be forever with HimIn heaven, where life is best.

So we live our lives for Jesus,Think of Him in all we do.

Thank you Savior; Thank you Lord.Help us love like you!

From Danville District

PEOPLE HAVE BEEN WONDERING - DOES DANVILLE STILL NEED HELP

WITH RECOVERY FROM HURRICANE MICHAEL? THE SHORT ANSWER IS: YES!

Since October 2018, the disaster emergency response team (ERT) has made a combined 200+ phone calls to people affected by the hurricane. Of that number we

responded to 63 homes to inspect and access damage and see if UMCOR and the Danville District ERT could assist. There have been 52 homes we have worked on – work

that ranged from yard clean-up to complete muck out of basements, first floors, and even some second floors in

homes.

Because of the funds, and hands, of people across Virginia we have been able to replace 3 HVAC units, repair two

homes so the owners could move back in, and completed repairs on five other homes. We have community

churches and non-profits who "adopted" 21 homes to help them rebuild, we have 10 homes that owners have been able to rebuild on their own, and we have 18 homes we

continue to work to rebuild.

Danville has 2 churches who are hosting teams [St. Luke's UMC & Mount Olivet UMC]- to date, we have had 7 teams who stay several days, visit and several day trip teams who

live within an hour or two who come to help where they are able. Fairview UMC is hosting three disaster trailers and one 53 ft. trailer with all the tools and equipment to

rebuild.

It is a beautiful thing to see - the body of Christ revealed to others in amazing and compassionate ways. This is what

we should be about.
