Proposed Works

Western Carriageway (St. Anne’s Park/Properties side) • Kerb realignment and footpath works on the western side.

Eastern Carriageway (Seaward Side) • 2km of cycle and pedestrians facilities on the eastern side of the existing carriageway (4.0m

wide two-way cycle track and 2m wide concrete footpath) .

• Improved flood defences along route and two new sections of retaining wall and works to improve existing seawall.

• Proposed services include improved drainage system, watermain and public lighting supplies.

Overall • Streetscape improvement – all new road surface, footpaths, traffic signals and public lighting

throughout the scheme.

• Estimated Program Duration: 16 months.

• Missing link in an overall 8km cycle track around North Dublin Bay.

• DCC received Part 8 Planning Approval for an Interim scheme in May 2013.

Proposed Works Watermill Road to Mount Prospect Avenue

• Site compound located within St. Annes Park Car Park– Car park currently closed.

• Works commencing at northern end of scheme in May 2015.

• Works zones will move in a southerly direction.

• Western side of carriageway works commencing first with little disruption.

• Retaining Wall/Eastern Carriageway Works more disruptive in nature.

Mount Prospect Avenue to Wooden Bridge

• Western footpath works will continue south in sections (150m approx.) with two way traffic and access to properties maintained.

• Retaining Wall/Eastern Carriageway Works more disruptive in nature.

Traffic Management

Western Footpath

Western Footpath – Works on the western footpath will commence just south of the site compound.

– Works zones will be in sections of approximately 150m.

– Each section will take approximately 3 weeks to complete.

– 2 way traffic will be maintained through this section with a 6m carriageway.

Eastern Footpath / Seaward Side Retaining Wall & Utilities – Works will then continue south along the existing seaward wall to construct the

retaining wall and utilities. – The Contractor is currently proposing a single lane traffic shuttle system (Stop/Go) for

this section of the Works. – The footpath works on the western side will continue further south in parallel with these

works so the works on the opposite side will not clash. – Currently reviewing options to reduce extent of single lane working.
