    The S2 Physical Education Course

    The S2 Physical Education course continues to develop

    practical and performance skills in a range of activitieswhilst also introducing pupils to a variety of roles

    associated with sport, such as a coach or referee. The

    course builds on the experiences and outcomes of the

    Health and Wellbeing curriculum area as well as

    contributing to learners wider achievement by developing

    skills in numeracy, literacy, decision making and problemsolving.

    Focusing on the personal development of learners, the S2

    Physical Education course provides pupils with theopportunities to acquire skills and qualities required for

    independent living, these include:

    - Resilience

    - Confidence

    - Independence

    - Responsibility

    What is the PE Diary?

    The PE Diary is a piece of work that pupils will be tasked

    to complete at the end of each activity block. The Diary is

    a tool that pupils can use to reflect upon their ownperformance and progress within an activity. It is hoped

    that pupils can use this self-evaluation tool to monitor theirprogress and inform next steps. Parents may wish to share

    in this experience and assist the pupil in setting goals and

    discussing their experiences within the activity. All

    evaluations will include a comment from the class teacher

    on the pupils performance and progress in class.

    How to use

    The Pupil Diaries will be issued as homework tasksthroughout the year and will be referred to regularly during

    lessons.

    Step 1 After completing an activity block, think back

    over the experience and rate yourself accordingly

    using the I am statements provided. The

    Success Criteria, and teachers comments can be

    used to remind you of what your teacher had

    taught during lessons.

    Step 2 Discuss the Evaluation with your parents or

    carers and try to assess whether you have

    achieved your Target set in S1. It may be useful

    to compare your S2 evaluation to the one you

    completed in S1 to see if there are any

    differences

    Step 3 Return the completed Pupil Diary to your

    teacher.
