From the Founder’s Desk and Spirit

Dear Safe Haven Student:

God bless you for enrolling in the Safe Haven Interdenominational Bible College and Training Institute. We are excited about this School and its program offerings. We believe that it will change your life and your church. We believe you will see personal and spiritual growth through the College. Not only have our students told us how their lives and ministries have been transformed, we have witnessed deliverance and people coming into total freedom in the classes.

Our ultimate goal is to make you qualified and equipped in the Kingdom of God. It is to make you a workable instrument for the Body of Christ, fulfilling the purpose that God set for you before the foundation of the world. To that end, our faculty works with each student showing them how to be successful with the curriculum we offer. We are committed to your success and growth.

This catalog will explain the policies, procedures and expectations of Safe Haven. It will provide detailed information about our degrees, certifications, and courses. As the school continues to grow new courses are being added to the curriculum. The catalog includes the tuition and fee structure for all courses.

May God bless you as you seek His Perfect Will for your life. Please read the catalog carefully and prayerfully, asking the faculty, staff, and me any questions you may have. Our contact information is included in the catalog. The Board of Directors, faculty, and I wish you every success! To God be the Glory for what He has done, is doing, and will do in your life. We count it a privilege to be a part of your journey!

Sincerely,

Overview of the Safe Haven Curriculum

Safe Haven’s base curriculum is that of a Bible college as you will denote from the Table of Contents and the majority of this Course Catalog. The curriculum is designed to increase the knowledge and application of every position and gifting in the Body of Christ. Whether you are a believer seeking more knowledge or if you have been selected by Christ to hold a fivefold ministry office, the curriculum will enhance your walk with the Lord. We believe that 1 Peter 1:4-7 states the foundation of the curriculum accurately: “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.” 2 Peter 1:4-7 (King James Version)

We have added new course offerings to the Bible College curriculum. One new class in the Bible College curriculum is the Master’s Degree or Certification in Ministerial and Pastoral Ministry, described on page 41 below.

In 2017-2018, we were accredited to add an additional tier our curriculum expanding to offer courses in traditional, liberal arts academic subjects. You will find those Education and Career Specialty courses listed under “Graduate and Professional Studies” in the catalog. Be sure to read about our two, new courses in Graduate and Professional Studies.

General Information about Safe Haven InterdenominationalBible College and Training Institute

2 Timothy 2:15 – Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.

Safe Haven Interdenominational Bible College and Training Institute is a school for everyone. For those who want more…. For those who want to apply the Word of God practically in their lives….For those who seek to increase their knowledge of the Word and Will of God…. For those who are in ministry and want to sharpen their skills…. And most importantly, for those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, Safe Haven is a Bible college where that thirst and hunger can be filled. (Matthew 5:6)

Founded in 2009 by Apostle and Dr. Hattie B. Stancil, the work of the Institute is to guide students to understand and walk out the principles of the Word of God. Its emphasis on practical application enriches students’ lives and the lives of those in their spheres of influence. Knowledge without understanding is like stagnant water. It is wet, but unproductive and unappealing. A person may have the information but if it is not in a workable place in their lives, it does not profit them or others, making them unproductive. No matter what area you are involved with in the Body of Christ, whether you are a church member or in the fivefold ministry (apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, or teacher), you need to know how to operate properly obeying the principles of the Word of God. The demand for these teachings and learning experiences has generated such growth that the Institute now convenes in Zebulon, Sanford, Winston-Salem, Durham, and Chapel Hill, NC with requests to establish additional sites as well.

At Safe Haven, especially in the Biblical Studies core curriculum, you will be exposed to key terms in Greek and Hebrew, enhancing your understanding of the Old and New Testaments. You will learn some Biblical theory with the goal to make the theory operational and practical in your life and walk with Jesus Christ.

Monthly curriculum guides instruct students on specific lessons while the Holy Spirit is given free course to move as He wills in each class. Homework in the form of workbooks, Bible study assignments, a 350 word written assignment, and an exercise requiring students to apply the lesson (called a “practical”) will be required each month and then submitted to your instructor for grading at the beginning of the next class. You

will have 30 days to complete these assignments. Students seeking a degree will complete an examination at the beginning of the following class. Students seeking a certificate will complete and submit all homework, but will not take the examinations.

Grading: To receive a certificate or degree, the average of students’ workbook, Bible Study, Practical, homework, writing assignments, and test grades for each class will be averaged with the final exam grade to derive the student’s final average. If a test or class is missed, students can make up that exam or class at another Safe Haven site. Missed tests must be made up within 30 days of the missed exam. If you miss a class and the make-up class, students must purchase a DVD of the missed lesson. Students must pass every class. If a class is missed and not made up within the allotted time frame, the student will fail that class and the course.

Course requirements for the Education and Specialty degrees and certificates will be explained in those classes. A calendar of all classes is included in this Catalog. The College uses the 10-point grading scale listed below.

What You Can Do With a Degree from

Safe Haven Interdenominational Bible College and Training Institute

Safe Haven Interdenominational Bible College and Training Institute is accredited by the National Bible College Association and the National Association of Private Theological Institutions. In addition to strengthening your faith and increasing your knowledge of God’s Will for your life, degrees from Safe Haven include the following benefits:

(1) Biblical Studies: Continue matriculating at Safe Haven earning higher degrees and additional certifications;

(2) Enable you to pursue a higher or additional degree at another Bible college or “secular” institution subject to the transfer credit policies of the particular transfer institution. Our accreditation is for private institutions and may not have regional and national acceptance. Each transfer application is considered on the curriculum content of each course description on the student’s transcript;

(3) The Safe Haven degrees enable you to pursue employment opportunities in church-related and secular environments. Many employers want to see the qualities of character and work ethic it takes (discipline, focus, achievement, etc.) required to complete degrees.

(4) Education Degrees: Our accreditations are for a private, Christian college and are not recognized by the State of North Carolina, regionally, nor nationally. Your education degree may be recognized by your employer or on a case by case basis by another institution. Transfer Credits: Each institution has its own transfer credit policy and examines the content of classes completed before accepting transfer credits. All of Safe Haven’s Primary and Youth Education and Early Childhood students take the same classes as students in secular institutions. It is a great curriculum for those preparing to become youth pastors, Board of Christian Education directors and the like.

(5) Importantly, with Safe Haven’s new Education degrees, if you are a non-certified teacher, the school you are employed by may choose to help you become licensed through the lateral entry program.

(6) Specialty Training Certifications: Specialized training offered by Safe Haven such as HVAC require state certification testing. This career opportunity gives the student a career that is in demand in the marketplace currently.

Finally, and most importantly of all, we give God all of the Glory for this College. He called this school into existence; He called you to be here. Now let’s find out all of the reasons why. We have received testimonies of the miraculous doors the Holy Spirit has opened for students who attended Safe Haven. One student, a Registered Nurse by profession, was told that once she received her Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school, including Bible College, she would be promoted on her job. She was! Other graduates received positions such as public school teachers, day care professionals, lead teachers, charter school teachers, and a variety of other positions.

On the path to God’s Purpose and Plan for your life, what doors can we believe God with you to open on your behalf?

Safe Haven Honor Code and Student Conduct

Colossians 3:17 - "And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the Name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."

I Corinthians 10:31 – “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”

As Christ’s Ambassadors and representatives, we expect each student to conduct themselves under a strict Code of Honor that acknowledges God and obeys His Precepts in all that we do. Each student will uphold the standards and principles outlined in the Word of God, exhibiting the Fruit of the Spirit in our interactions with everyone we encounter at the College as well as adhering to those policies that demonstrate good order and respect for each person.

By enrolling at Safe Haven, each student covenants to conduct themselves in ways that reflect credit to themselves, their Christian faith, and that honors and brings Glory to God.

o Students agree to be accountable for their personal, social and academic conduct while on a Safe Haven campus, affirming the dignity and value of each person with whom they interact.

o “Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” (Colossians 4:6)

o Students must abide by “truth in the inward parts” by speaking the truth at all times.o No class materials may be used when students are taking a test. o Your speech is to be seasoned with salt so that it will minister grace to the hearer. o Unfortunately, there have been instances when students have spoken to Instructors in

disrespectful ways, showing anger and frustration. Such outbursts are unacceptable and unbecoming of those who claim our Lord, Jesus who calls us to peace.

o Faculty and students will promote and create an environment permeated with the love of God which maximizes learning and exemplifies God’s Kingdom on earth.

Students found in violation of these codes and standards will meet with their instructor and Dr. Stancil to determine appropriate disciplinary actions.

The National Bible College Association holds to the standard tenants of the Christian faith. We require that all member institutions of higher learning subscribe to and accept the following:

1. There is one and only one, true, holy and living God; Father, Son and Holy Ghost

2. The absolute deity of the Lord Jesus Christ; His virgin birth, death and resurrection from the dead; and His ultimate and eminent return

3. Man is a created being, separated from God by voluntary transgression4. Salvation is provided wholly by grace through faith in the crucified, dead,

buried and resurrected Lord and Savior Jesus Christ5. The Holy Bible is God's revelation to man, containing all things necessary

for salvation6. The person and work of the Holy Spirit

The National Bible College Association requires all members to provide valid proof of providing educational programs, geared in the direction of the instruction, enlightenment and advancement of the Kingdom of God and the effective training of professional ministers. MEET THE SAFE HAVEN FACULTY

Dr. Hattie B. Stancil is the Founder, President, author of the Bible College curriculum, and an Instructor for the Safe Haven Interdenominational Bible College and Training Institute. A native of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, she was educated in the Chatham County Public Schools where her gifts of serving and leading were nurtured. Beginning in high school, she was in the Army National Guard. Following high school, she served six years in the US Army which taught her important principles of discipline, respect for authority, obedience, order, and submission in the Body of Christ that are essential throughout the Word of God. Dr. Stancil completed her training as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the T. C. Williams School of Nursing in Alexandria, Virginia. Before and during her nursing training, Dr. Stancil served as an Emergency Medical Technician doing ambulance duty from 1982-1986. She graduated from Williams in 1985, passing the State Nursing Board examinations in Virginia. She received reciprocity from North Carolina. These experiences provided valuable additions to her professional skill sets, demonstrating her love for helping and serving others.

Her spiritual and religious education resume: Dr. Stancil received Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord at the age of twelve while attending Barbee’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Chapel Hill, NC (presently named Barbee’s Chapel Harvest Word Church and Ministries). She received the Baptism in the Holy Spirt during her early years. Having served as a member, pastor, evangelist, prophet and teacher, the Holy Spirit anointed and appointed her an Apostle in 1998 through the Faith Deliverance Ministry. Dr. Stancil received her Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Religion at the New Life Community Church School of Ministry in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina in 2003 through 2006. For seven years, after receiving her Master’s degree and Doctorate, she became a faculty member at the NLCC School of Ministry. During this time she spearheaded street evangelism in Zebulon and Micro, NC, founding churches in both cities. She believes that God’s People perish due to lack of knowledge of Him. She has set about concrete ways to fill those gaps in knowledge.

An educator and an advocate for education, in 2006 Dr. Stancil launched the Safe Haven Interdenominational Bible College and Training Institute which flourishes to this day. The curriculum the Holy Spirit inspired her to write prepares ministers and lay persons with practical, applicable principles for fulfilling God’s Plans and Purposes in their lives and ministries while increasing their knowledge of the Word of God.

Dr. Stancil is a devoted civic and community servant. She founded the Esther House Outreach Ministry (Zebulon) providing resources and life skill training to women who needed a second chance in life. As recently as 2015, she established the Esther House Thrift Store in Wendell, NC designed to provide high quality clothes and household items at affordable prices. The “Parents without Partners” Program she created is a spinoff from the Esther House Ministry. It trains women to set life and family goals while teaching them skills to manage their lives, rear their children and make wise use of their finances. Presently, the Esther House program she originated provides transitional housing and counseling to single women and now families who are getting their lives on track.

Dr. Tiffany H. Branch returns to the Safe Haven staff this year teaching in the Primary and Youth Education Ministry Department. Dr. Branch received her Bachelor of Arts in Education at Belford University. She received the Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral Degrees from the Safe Haven Interdenominational Bible College and Training Institute. Her doctorate is in Biblical Studies with a Concentration on Praise and Worship in Dance. Dr. Branch came to know the Lord as her Savior and Lord in 2004. In the Body of Christ, she leads people to the Throne Room through anointed dance ministry and singing. She teaches dance to youth and adults, having founded the “Moments of Truth” Dance ministry at Barbee’s Chapel Harvest Word Church in Chapel Hill, NC. Dr. Branch is also a choreographer, who ministers in Dance and singing at Harvest Word Deliverance Ministry in Zebulon, presently. She also serves as the Youth Department Liaison in Zebulon. Professionally, Dr. Branch teaches second grade at a Charter Public School. Her philosophy of Christian Education is a simple one, she says. “We perish for a lack of knowledge, therefore, if we learn the Word the RIGHT WAY, and simply OBEY, we’re guaranteed results. What attracted me to the opportunity to teach at Safe Haven is the immediate application I received from applying what I learned when I attended Safe Haven Bible Institute. I want to see CHANGE, GROWTH, and SPIRITUAL PROSPERITY in the lives of all of the students. I want them to find the studying tool that works best for them and to apply what they learn immediately.”

Pastor Minnie S. Cameron joined the Safe Haven faculty last year at our newest satellite campus in Winston-Salem, North Carolina! She is the loving wife of Robert E. Cameron and together they are the proud parents of three children: Renee, Tiffany and Darius, and two wonderful granddaughters. She is employed by Daggett Shuler, Attorneys at Law in Winston-Salem, NC. An entrepreneur, she is Chief Operating Officer for Covenant Production Event Planning Services and Purity 3 Essential Oil/Natural Care Products. She holds an Associate Degree in Paralegal Technology and studied at NCA&T, St. Augustine’s College and Duke University Nonprofit Management Program. Pastor Cameron has earned the Associate, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees from Safe Haven. She is an ordained Elder with Pastoral license. She is the leader and founder of His Image Ministries (HIM), launched in 2007. The God-inspired vision for HIM is: To know Christ - To be known by Christ - To make Christ known. She is called to intercession, prayer, and deliverance through preaching and teaching the Word of God wherever God sends her. She preached at several locations for her spiritual mother in Sierra Leone, West Africa. She accepts her calling as a part of the end time remnant that God will use to usher in His Kingdom. Her constant prayer is that illumination and understanding will take place and lives are changed by His Word. Her favorite scripture is John 1:14: "…and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld his Glory, the Glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” An anointed teacher and intercessor, many have come to Christ and gained victory through her ministries and giftings.

Minister Phyllis Edwards has served on the Safe Haven staff since 2014, teaching the Master’s in Biblical Studies class. Professionally, she is a retired Registered Nurse, having worked for UNC Healthcare. Now that she has retired from this career, she devotes her time, talent and energies full time to the Lord. She serves in numerous capacities at Barbee’s Chapel Harvest Word Church in Chapel Hill,

NC. She is a minister, an intercessor, a steward, and church financial secretary. She teaches Bible principles to new converts at BCHW. She also serves as a Watchman during services, interceding for the congregation during Sunday services. The Holy Spirit reveals things to her to pray against, pray about, and pray for during those times. Minister Edwards holds Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees in Biblical Studies from Safe Haven. She has also received her Master’s in Deliverance Ministry and a Certificate at the Master’s level in Biblical Origin. She received Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord in February 1983 after being witnessed to by a friend. Her ministry gifting is teaching which she truly enjoys. When asked to teach at Safe Haven, Minister Edwards realized that God was giving her an opportunity to serve the Kingdom for His Glory. She asks the Holy Spirit to give her what He wants her to present and what He wants to reveal at each class. Her philosophy of education is to seek the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to dominate as He sees the need to. Her desire for students is for them to have more exposure to Biblical Principles and to walk in them. She says, “As I look back over my life, I observe that the enemy tried to kill me on several occasions but because of the purpose and plan that God has for my life, I was rescued from the Kingdom of darkness and translated into the Kingdom of His Dear Son – Praise the Lord.”

Minister Minnie Goins joined the Safe Haven faculty teaching the Master of Education last year. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC and earned a Master’s in School Administration from UNC Chapel Hill. Minister Goins received her Associate’s, Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Biblical Studies at Safe Haven. Her journey with the Lord began at the age of 12 when she received Him as her Savior. Her ministry giftings are teaching, intercession, deliverance, and leading people into worship. Minister Goins states, “My philosophy (of education) is based upon scripture found in the book of Ephesians, chapter four where it is clear that we are all called to live a life worthy of the calling on our lives. This is not to benefit self, but for the perfecting of the saints - that all would have a victorious life. This is the "work" of Christian Education and everyone doing their part to fulfill the cause of Christ. We must redeem the time and shepherd, guide, and instruct so that people see God and manifest the fullness of Christ. It is truly an honor to learn, as well as teach, in such a divinely ordained vessel of God.” For her students, she says, “It is my hope and belief that students will be able to put into practical application the unfiltered truth of the Bible. Student lives will reflect the outpouring - not from instructors- but from Christ. With this knowledge/wisdom and relationship students would walk boldly in their Godly wisdom - calling and purpose as a result impacting and influencing others to want to know more about the God we serve. Their lives become a living testament - continuous victory in all areas - that creates life-giving testimonies for future generations. Instead of passing on curses, they will expose deception and be fearless, Spirit-filled leaders paving the way for the cause of Christ.”

Dr. John W. Howell, Jr. is new to the Safe Haven faculty this year but not to the school. He recognized the value of his Bible College education and dedicated himself to it. Dr. Howell received his Associate, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and two Doctoral degrees from Safe Haven demonstrated by an academic career of distinction at Safe Haven. He was Salutatorian of his Bachelor’s class and then Valedictorian of his Master’s class. Trained in music at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC, Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC and the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Howell allowed the Holy Spirit to add to his musical foundation when he recommitted his life to Christ. Having received Christ as his Savior at age 11, his Godly grandfather, Reverend Murdock Mordecai Leake, had a huge impact on his life to walk with Christ. His life changed again when he received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit in the 1980’s. Through his musical ministry and recordings, hundreds and thousands of people were saved, delivered, and set free. Ordained as a minister under the leadership of Apostle Willie J. Sturgess in Charlotte, NC, In 1996, Dr. Howell also graduated from the School of the Prophets in Charlotte, NC under the leadership of Major Prophet and Dr. Ronnie R. Tomblin and Prophetess Shirley Robertson. Over the last eleven years, he has been ordained an evangelist, prophet and an Elder under the leadership of Harvest Word Healing and Deliverance Ministry and All-in-One Ministries. His own ministry, the Anointed Ones, has conducted praise and worship music and other workshops and conferences from Charlotte, NC to Salt Lake City Utah, to Hartford, Connecticut. Over that journey, God has delivered him from generational curses that had bound him despite being used by the Holy Spirit to set others free. Dr. Howell will teach the course on Deliverance in the Biblical Studies curriculum. Welcome, Dr. Howell!

Dr. Nay Howell is a lifelong learner, returning for her seventh year as a Safe Haven faculty member. The Lord has sustained her through times of joy and pain, including miraculous healings and attacks against her and her daughter’s lives. Her spiritual degrees are: she received her B. A., Born Again child of God, (Christ as her Savior) at the age of 6; she received her B.H.S., Baptism in the Holy Spirit, at age 23, and is working on her PHD = Praising Him Daily! She received a Bachelor’s degree in Afro-American Studies and Spanish from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida. She received a Juris Doctorate (law degree) from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC, a Master’s in Public Administration and Education Certifications in Curriculum and Supervision from UNC Charlotte, passing the National Teacher’s Exam in Curriculum and Supervision and Educational Supervision. Her philosophy of education is that, “Every student is a genius in some way. Every student is an A student. We have to discover their genius so they can make that A. I make contracts with student to provide the best teaching, support, and facilitation that I can. Their part of the contract is to work to the best and highest level of their potential and beyond their ability. The love of God is extremely important in the classroom. I love each of my students and intercede for them.” Dr. Howell received her Associate, Bachelor, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees in Biblical Studies from Safe Haven. She received Certificates in Deliverance Ministry, Biblical Origin, and Ministerial Studies at Safe Haven. In the fivefold ministry, she has been called to teach, into the office of a

prophet, and now the office of pastor aided by the ministry gifts of discernment and deliverance. In 1996, Dr. Howell graduated from the School of the Prophets in Charlotte, NC under the leadership of Major Prophet and Dr. Ronnie R. Tomblin and Prophetess Shirley Robertson. She has served the Body of Christ as a witness to others, street evangelist, intercessor, Youth worker, children and adult choir director and member, Children’s Church teacher, Sunday School Teacher, church administrative assistant for two ministries, Women’s Ministry head, invited guest speaker at retreats and church services, usher, and anything else the Lord needed her to do.

Pastor Sabrina Ivey is a graduate from the Durham Public Schools system who later attended Durham Technical College for Management Training. She ventured out and became an entrepreneur with her own business entitled Heavenly Designs. Sabrina’s reputation began to buzz around the community for carrying a special anointing in her hands to make priestly garments, choir robes, interior decorating, and arts and crafts. “I love helping young people and God allowed me to open the doors of my home for seven years to over 25 teenagers in the Therapeutic Foster Care program.” Pastor Ivey’s gospel resume consists of being born again at the age of 15, faithfully serving on the Nurse’s Board for eight years and later becoming president of the board. While serving she received her Missionary and Evangelistic License. Pastor Ivey attended Apex School of Theology and University of Phoenix online majoring in Psychology, all while teaching class for the Marriage Ministry at her local church. Her love for Jesus Christ and ministry catapulted her to become an ordained Minister, an Elder, Co-Pastor and now Sr. Pastor of Windows of Heaven Ministries of Durham, NC. She has studied to show herself approved unto God by continuing her studies at the Safe Haven Interdenominational Bible Training Institute having received her Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees. She has also received certificates for Valedictorian, Pastoral Studies, Deliverance Ministry and Biblical Origin as well. As a Bible teacher, her creativity and practical illustrations facilitate student learning. Her humor and examples make complex Biblical principles easy for students to comprehend.

Brother William Thaxton, Jr. returns to Safe Haven for the third year of teaching the immensely successful HVAC. A dedicated member of Barbee’s Chapel Harvest Word Church in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, in 2017, the Lord lead Brother Thaxton to approach Safe Haven leadership with the vision for initiating Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) class. Brother Thaxton knew there was a demand for trained professionals in this industry. Instructor Thaxton is a native of Newark, NJ who has over 30 years of experience in the HVAC/R industry. A graduate of Lincoln Technical Institute, he holds professional HVAC Master’s licenses in several states. In addition, he is a LEED Accredited Professional, a world leader in building energy efficient and sustainable buildings. Brother Thaxton currently works as a Senior Facilities Manager for one of the world’s largest commercial real estate firms. Since the HVAC class was offered numerous graduates have become state-certified technicians who are now working for themselves or for other companies. This year he has added a new course entitled, Introduction to Facilities Engineering Services/Building Engineer Responsibilities. “My philosophy is simple, pass the baton in terms of sharing knowledge and prepare those who are willing to invest the time into owning a new skill; a skill which can guarantee them ownership and the ability to earn a living for a lifetime.”

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

Registration Process

1. Registration for Safe Haven occurs at an in person, mandatory pre-registration session held in mid-August at each of the three campuses. The specific dates will be published on the website: http://safehavenbiblecollege.homestead.com/

2. All new, returning, and Doctoral students must attend the August pre-registration to complete their application for the year, review the Course Catalog, and pay the pre-registration fee. New doctoral students will complete three doctoral classes in preparation for writing their dissertations. Registration can also take place online or at the first class.

3. A $75.00, non-refundable registration fee must be paid at the pre-registration. This allows the administrative office to plan for and reproduce the appropriate number of curriculum guides and other material. This fee can also be paid online.

4. Students may choose to enroll in the degree programs or elect the certificate programs for any of the Bible-related courses offered at Safe Haven.

5. Degrees from other institutions will be reviewed and considered in placing students at the appropriate level at Save Haven. In the Bible College curriculum, for example, we have a preference that students gain the foundational building blocks entitled, "Biblical Studies.” These courses are the basis for much of the Bible College curriculum. However, for example, if you have a Master’s degree presently, you can receive another Master’s or Certificate in a course of study.

6. To enroll in any Safe Haven classes, returning and new students must bring a copy of their birth certificates, high school diploma, and other degrees to the pre-registration session in August or to early fall semester classes. If you do not have a high school diploma or GED, you can still enroll in the Certificate programs. Specific dates for the pre-registration will be announced on the Institute’s website in #1 above.

7. During the pre-registration, students will have the opportunity to meet the professors who will facilitate their classes and receive an overview of the degree and certificate programs.

8. Students will complete two copies of their application at that time. You are asked to print your name on the applications as you desire it to appear on your degree or certificate at graduation in June.

9. PLEASE keep your complete address, phone number and email address up-to-date, informing your instructor as soon as possible if any of this contact information changes.

10.At the beginning of the first class for the semester, (or very soon thereafter) instructors will review the school Rules and Guidelines herein outlined. Students will be asked to sign statements that they understand, accept, and will adhere to these standards and Student Conduct Code of Honor as written, promoting the integrity of our Institute as a Christian college, and establishing a proactive learning environment.

Withdrawing from and Re-admission to Safe Haven

1. It is our hope that once enrolled each student will be able to complete their course of study.

2. Should a student need to withdraw, inform the instructor in your degree program immediately.

3. If the withdrawing student has pre-paid their tuition for the year, they can be refunded the unexpended portion of their tuition. For instance, if they paid for the entire semester but withdrew after the first two classes, they will be refunded the tuition paid for the last two months.

4. There is no refund for any student who has attended a class and received a curriculum guide.

5. A student who withdrew is welcome to return in a subsequent school year by attending and re-applying at the pre-registration session in August of that academic year.

6. Once re-enrollment is completed and the pre-registration fee is paid, the student becomes subject to the guidelines articulated in this Course Catalog.

Student Expectations: Tips for Success at Safe Haven

1. Student supplies: Students need a 3-ring notebook with dividers to organize the monthly curriculum guides they will receive at each class. Each month you will be given a booklet with 3 holes punched, making it easy to place in your notebook. This notebook is also a great way to organize any other paperwork from Safe Haven.

2. Pacing yourself to complete the work after class: Remember to begin completing your workbook, practical, memory verse, homework questions, and written assignment immediately following class; not waiting until the end of the month. Our emphasis at Safe Haven is that you internalize the knowledge and use it practically in your walk with Christ. Using the world’s techniques of “cramming” for exams and procrastinating builds anxiety and does not put what you have learned into a workable place in your life.

3. Attending class is mandatory: Students must attend all classes to receive credit. If a class is missed at the home site, students may go to another Safe Haven site to make up a missed class. A student has 30 days to arrange to make up a missed class or test with their instructor. You must complete a “live instruction” class to fulfill accreditation standards. At the Associate level in the Biblical studies curriculum only, another option to attend a missed class is to purchase a DVD of the missed class for a fee of $15.00 separate from tuition in those classes where DVDs are available. Those DVD classes are taught by Dr. Stancil. Replacement cost for a lost or damaged curriculum guide is $30.00 payable to the Director of Administration, Dr. Shirley Harrington.

4. Class time: Classes are allotted for up to a five-hour time period which includes testing and instruction.

5. Degree students - Test administration: For students who elect to receive a degree, tests will be administered at the beginning of each class or at the end of class depending on when students arrive. Students may take the exams one hour ahead of the scheduled start time for class if they arrive early. For example, if your class begins at 6:00 pm, you may come at 5:00 pm to take your exam. Otherwise, the test will begin at 6:00 pm.

6. More on monthly tests: These exams must be taken at the appointed time. If a class is missed, the student has 30 days to make up the test OR it must be made up at another Safe Haven site. If the test is made up beyond the 30 days a ten point deduction from their score is the consequence as this has thrown the instructor off course in grading. If it is taken 60 days from the original date, the grade is an automatic 60.

7. Certificate students: If a student has chosen to receive a certificate, they are required to complete all of the work described in #2 above with the exception of the written examination. Certificate students do not take the exams and their tuition is less.

8. Class materials and Grading: At each class session, you will receive a curriculum guide with approximately ten lessons per subject area. Students and staff will read and discuss each lesson. Attached to the guide is a Workbook for that class consisting of approximately 50 questions. Exams are

Safe Haven Interdenominational Bible College and Training Institute Page 26

Page 27: safehavenbiblecollege.homestead.comsafehavenbiblecollege.homestead.com/Safe_Haven_Policy.docx  · Web viewSafe Haven Interdenominational. Bible College and Training institute. 2019-2020

derived from these 50 questions. You will answer the workbook questions on your own paper (either handwritten or typed) and turn them in to your professor at the next month’s class. Please write the Workbook, Homework, Practical, Memorization Scripture, and Essay on your own paper. Writing the Workbook questions on the copy that is in your curriculum guide results in an automatic grade of 60.

9. What you will do during the 30 days before the next class: In addition to the Workbook described above, the curriculum guide will also contain 1-3 homework questions where you apply principles from the lessons. It will also 1-2 questions called a “Practical” where you think and pray about how to respond to a scenario that will be presented. You are required to memorize one verse of scripture, looking up the definitions to key words from the verse that will have been identified. This memorization scripture will give you 5 points of extra credit on the test. In some cases, you will be asked to choose and/or define two key words that stood out to you in the scripture to deepen your Biblical knowledge. Finally, tour homework also consists of a 350 word paper on a topic found at the bottom of your Homework page beneath your Memorization scripture. In summary:

a. Workbook – This consists of approximately 50 questions at the end of each curriculum guide. Your answers can be handwritten or typed on your own paper. Do not write your answers in the curriculum guide to turn it in. Turning in answers on the curriculum guide will result in an automatic grade of 60.

b. Homework: One or two questions at the end of the Workbook are designated as “Homework.” These require you to apply principles learned. Use complete sentences that address the questions.

c. Practical: One scenario is given where you are asked to write a paragraph that puts you in the shoes of a person giving advice to a troubled individual who needs Biblical advice in a real life situation from one of the lessons in the unit. Use what you have learned, examples and scriptures from the lesson and your own life experience, if it applies.

d. Memorization scripture: Toward the end of the “Homework” page you will find one scripture verse to memorize. Re-write it as a part of your homework. Also as a part of the homework, you will be asked to define two, key words from that verse that will be identified for you or for some lessons. If the words are not underlined for you, you select two words that you feel are important to the meaning of the verse. On the test, you will write out the scripture for 5 extra credit points on the test. The verse adds to your knowledge and understanding of the unit being studied.

e. Essay question/written assignment: The final portion of your “Homework” is a written assignment. At the end of the “Homework” page, you are asked to write a 350 word essay responding to the assignment written there. You can type or handwrite your essay. Associate students will be given a writing guide if they need one, outlining elements to include in the essay.

Safe Haven endeavors to make a quality Christian education affordable and accessible to all. As such tuition costs are very reasonable. Students select their own payment plans. They may pay their tuition as a one-time, total tuition or in incremental lump sums (such as 1/3, 1/3, 1/3). Dr. Stancil has established a monthly payment plan option for students who choose to make monthly installments. The chart below outlines the tuition for each degree and certificate program.

Scholarship Availability and Application for Scholarship

The Lord has blessed Safe Haven with donors whose vision it is to see those who wish to attend able to do so. He has touched their hearts to give scholarships to the school. Each year we do not know who will feel that tug on their spirits to give, but the Administration of Safe Haven makes any and all donated funds available for students in the form of scholarships.

If you desire to receive a scholarship, application is made verbally to Dr. Shirley Harrington. Make an appointment with and meet with her at the beginning of the school year/semester or as soon as you know you have a need. Dr. Harrington and Dr. Stancil will make the determination as to who can receive and how much they can receive in their scholarship as funds become available. Should the scholarship funds be made available during the course of the school year, Dr. Harrington will inform the students who have made application that the scholarship funds are to be awarded to them.

If an emergency arises, you may take the final exam at another school site or campus. You must make these arrangements with your instructor ahead of time so that there will be enough tests at that site.

5. All class work must be submitted to your professor on the day of the final exam in May. No work or make-up work will be accepted after the final test is administered during the May class. A score of “60” will be averaged in with your grades for any missing work.

6. If a student chooses not to take the final exam, a 0 will be entered. An entire letter grade will be missing from the final average.

7. Graduation photographs: At the beginning of the spring semester (January-February 2020) students will receive a schedule, order form and price list for graduation photographs.

BIBLICAL STUDIES – CORE CURRICULUM

ASSOCIATE DEGREE/CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

Joshua 1:8 (New Living Translation) – “Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.”

(Kings James Version) “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

The Associate Degree/Certification Program is designed as a foundation for the succeeding degree programs: Bachelor’s and Master’s. It grounds students in basic principles of God’s Word, His Will, and His Ways for humankind. This course will delve into why order is God’s operating quality. It will take students back to God’s Original Plan for the earth revealed in Genesis. Importantly, the course will teach the Body of Christ how and why we need to get back to God’s Original Plan and Purpose while revealing how we have, in many instances, added to His Ways and Word with our own doctrinal inventions. Christ founded the Church, the Body of Christ. This program will study the central tenets of being a member of His Church, becoming a disciple, and putting the Lord on display in the earth through our lives and lifestyles. Expect conviction and jubilation as the Holy Spirit points out, in His loving ways, where correction and adjustments are needed during the course of the semesters during this first year.

CHURCH PRINCIPLES 1

Principles of Church Order – Our God is a God of order and purpose. This initial module for the Associate Program demonstrates this principle of God at the same time that it establishes how we have lost and do not operate in the order that God instituted. The class will define “grace” and how God uses grace in His dealings with believers and unbelievers alike. Beginning with a study of one’s power, position, and authority in God’s Kingdom, the class will move on to key principles of God. These include “waiting”, patience, maturity and consistent growth in Christ are central tenets to re-establishing the order that God intends that will bring glory to Him.

Principles of Giving and Fasting – This dual module will get students back to God’s Principles of two important areas. The first half of the class will explore how God designed the principle of giving. The types of giving will be studied in depth including the different types of offerings we render to the Lord. Man-made teachings and erroneous teachings about tithes and offerings will be exposed in light of why God commands that we pay tithes and offerings. We will explore the significance of the various offerings revealed in the Word of God such as the Passover Offering. The second half of the class will

deal with why Father instituted fasting and why He wants us to fast. Students will understand what fasting accomplishes and why we must live a “fasted life.”

The Study of Genesis I – Many Christians and theologians believe that in this dispensation, God is moving the Body of Christ to the Book of Revelation. This course and the next one, Genesis II, will emphasize that as we look at the signs of the times, God is getting us back to His Original Plan and Order which are in the Book of Genesis. We will study what the scripture means, “In earth as it is in Heaven.” Genesis I will demonstrate how the serpent beguiled Eve and Adam. It will expose how their betrayal of God’s Commands set the pattern of sin for all of mankind. The Study of Genesis II – Like no other class, Genesis II discloses essential elements for mankind’s “success” on earth. This module will delve into the power of the spoken word as God speaks the worlds into existence. It shows the transfer of this power from God to man when He gave mankind the power to speak and have dominion in the earth. This module examines the criticality of hearing and obeying the voice of God. Other lessons in this class show the importance of the 5 dispensations and God’s Provision for man’s sin.

The Study of the Beatitudes – This module studies the very character, personality, and nature of Jesus the Christ. The Beatitudes reveal how He wants us to walk and interact with this world. While Jesus prepares the disciples then and now He is empowering them with the “attitudes” of victory. This module teaches students to do, to handle and to have the blessings and rewards of living like Christ.

The Attitude of Hope – This module will answer very weighty questions from a scriptural and spiritual point of view. It will ask and answer: What is hope? How is hope the precursor to faith? What is the hope of your salvation and when do you know you are in God’s Perfect Will concerning His Plan for your life? The discourse will discuss the transition from one phase of your success plan in God to the next based on your faith, God’s Plan for your life, and hope.

The Study of Prophecy – “As He is, so are we in this world.” (I John 4:17) This module is a primer on how and why God speaks through men and women. The course will define and describe the numerous aspects of prophecy as well as the prophetic ministry and the office gift of prophecy. Three parts of prophecy and the areas of operation will be studied. Types of prophecies, conditional and unconditional will be discussed.

The Study of Grace – While the concepts and definitions of “grace” were introduced in the Church Order module, this in-depth study examines the effects of grace in our lives. The module will discuss how critical God’s Timing is in our lives. Grace does not excuse “sin” and disobedience, rather this class will warn us not to abuse God’s Grace, but how to abound in His Timing and Grace. Galatians 6:7 states, “Be not deceived, God is not mocked for whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap.” Much is taught about grace today; as if it were an excuse to sin because “God understands….” God desires truth in the inward parts (Psalm 51:6). God’s true grace brings His everlasting, unchanging Truth.

Biblical Studies Core Curriculum - continued

BACHELOR’S DEGREE/CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

Hebrews 6:1 (NIV) “Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God,”

The Bachelor’s Program curriculum emphasizes components of the Church with contemporary application for today. The Bachelor’s degree will equip students to recognize and Biblically address many of the issues and realities that face all people and Christians, in particular. This course of study is about using our spiritual weaponry to wage war against the enemy of our souls. The courses below demonstrate this truth as they identify battlegrounds for the saints of the Living God. They could be summed up in four words: spiritual warfare and victory!

The Nine Types of Prayer in the Church – This fascinating study will challenge students to examine and strengthen their prayer lives. Beginning with a study of the prayer of confession and salvation, the module ends with the prayer of benediction. Hebrew words for “prayer” and other terms will be studied, adding depth and dimension to this primary mode of communicating with God: prayer. Seven additional types of prayer will be studied. One enduring message from this module is that we are to “pray without ceasing.” I Thessalonians 5:17

The Study of Evangelism – Ten types of evangelism will be studied in this module. Students will learn the distinctions between miracle evangelism and prophetic evangelism; between street evangelism and home evangelism, to name a few. Students will learn how every Christian can be an evangelist, bringing others to Christ.

Ten Types of Suffering – Jesus said that if we suffer with Him we will also reign with Him. Although not a popular sermon or teaching topic in most churches, the Word of God is clear that since we have an enemy, there will be suffering and persecution in our lives. This course sets out ten types of suffering such as: suffering for our sins, suffering for afflictions, for yokes, infirmities of the flesh, and suffering for righteousness’ sake. The course will reveal what happens when we suffer the consequences of being in the permissive, and not perfect, will of God.

Process of Healing – God wants His People whole in their spirits, souls and bodies. The healing module will explain the numerous, Biblical ways that the Lord has designed to heal people. Some of the types of healing to be studied are “the usual suspects” such as healing by the laying on of hands and methods Jesus used often - prophetic healing, specific faith plans of God, and healing through repentance or forgiveness. (Thy sins be forgiven; arise, take up thy bed and walk, for example). For a

more complete treatment of the process of healing, the class will discuss spiritual blockages to healing, generational curses which can cause sickness and healing through intercessory prayer. Causes of sickness such as witchcraft and sicknesses that bring glory to God will be examined as well.

Makeup of the Church (Ten Types of People in the Church) – Who are the people laboring with you and sitting beside you in the church? The ten types of people in the church will be studied in great detail. It is important to distinguish them so we will know how to pray and how to discern sheep from wolves and wheat from tares. This module will challenge you to examine your own heart and service in the Kingdom of God. Some of the types are sinners, disciples, saints, saved, laborers, and the unbelievers. What is the distinction between the born again and the saved in the church? During the call you should identify which one you are.

Gift Matching I and Gift Matching II – This powerful module investigates the spiritual gifts examined in the New Testament and revealed in some of the Old Testament kings, prophets, judges, and others. This comprehensive section will cover the categories of gifts that God created and designed to equip and perfect the Body of Christ for the working of the ministry. The categories are: the Fivefold Ministry Gifts appointed by Christ (Ephesians 4), Revelation Gifts given by the Holy Spirit (I Corinthians 12), and the Motive Gifts given by God from birth. (Romans 12).

From Salvation to Your Calling in Ministry – Salvation is more than meets the eye. It is a gift freely given by God and purchased by the blood of Jesus. It is a lifelong process for growing Christians. The class will analyze and explore phases of our salvation journey. From salvation, the process moves to conversion, then to transformation, transition until you eventually learn your true calling and anointing for service in the Body of Christ.

Praise and Worship –Numerous terms that we use in Christendom deserve a fuller understanding so that we can give God the praise and the worship He so richly deserves. We bandy about the terms “praise and worship”, calling any music or actions as praise and worship. This module will explain what we are doing when we “bless God”, when we prostrate ourselves before the Lord, and when we exalt and magnify Him. What is the difference between prayer and praise? The class will teach the Hebrew and Greek words for these hallmarks of worship, adding a deeper, fuller richness to our approaches to God and His Throne.

BIBLICAL STUDIES MASTER’S DEGREE/CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

Isaiah 28:9-10 KJV - Whom shall he teach knowledge? And whom shall he make to⁹ understand doctrine? Them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breast. ¹ For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line,⁰ line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

The Master’s in Biblical Studies adds depth and height to the foundational teachings of the Associate Program while supporting the spiritual warfare building blocks added at the Bachelor’s level. This program further equips students with effective weapons against the enemy of our souls. The “meat” studied in the Master’s Program complements and adds to the knowledge and applicability of the Associate’s and Bachelor’s curricula. Weighty matters concerning the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness are uncovered at the Master’s Program level. Who is on the Lord’s side?

Study of the Seven Churches – God’s number for completion is seven. This study surveys where churches are today based on the seven churches in Revelation. We will probe the seven churches as described in Revelation then analyze today’s churches revealing how the Lord Jesus would assess them. Each church has particular characteristics which we will study. Jesus prescribe what each church needs to correct in order to become the Bride of Christ. The churches are: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.

Study of the Seven Spirits of the Lord – The seven spirits contain the operating and working power of the Holy Ghost. They are supernatural. The spirits of the Lord as revealed in scripture are: anointing, wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and fear of the Lord. They exist to bring into manifestation the supernatural anointing in a believer’s life.

Man, Marriage, and Divorce – What was God’s intention when He created man and woman in His Image (Genesis 1:26)? As you will have learned in the Biblical Studies classes, God is getting us back to His Original Plan for man. Do Christian marriages reflect God’s Design or are we reflecting the world’s definition of this sacred, initial creation of God. This module investigates God’s Original Design while exposing how we have altered the plans of God. Necessarily, the class will expose areas of imbalance in marriage and how we have become “conformed to the world” in many marriages (Romans 12:2).

Finances in the Church – The first lesson in this module is entitled, “It all belongs to God.” Using this foundational belief, this module uses a two-pronged approach to bringing God’s Order in the area of finances: (1) church finances and (2) personal, spiritual financial management. It will glimpse back at the word “order” as the class studies: tithing, curses on finances, debt and strategies for getting out of debt, investing, cosigning and other Biblical means of handling finances.

The Study of the Word – This expository lesson answers the question: How do we make the Word of God our lifestyle, not just words we use? The study includes a treatment of the four major ways we hear and receive the Word of God. Students will investigate the power that is in the Word as well as its being a two-edged sword. Finally, the Word will be looked at from the vantage points of our protector, and a discerner which we are to hide in our hearts.

Theology of the Ten Commandments- This module will reveal the many unexpected areas that govern our lives as an outgrowth from the Ten Commandments. God’s rationales for creating and giving man the commandments will be researched and discussed. The study will include the two categories of the commandments. The first four commandments are considered man’s relationship to God and the last six

define man to man and Christ’s relationship to man here on earth. They are the basis for human conduct, natural and religious affairs. The legal system, laws and statutes, regulations are a few areas pertaining to life and Godliness that emanate from the Ten Commandments.

The Theology of Hell – This module is an in-depth of what hell is, who will go to hell, leaving nothing to the imagination or conjecture. One of Satan’s favorite deceptions is to convince people that hell is not real, lulling them into a sense of comfort that if they are “good” morally or if they do “good” deeds that they can work their way into Heaven. One lesson in this module states simply that “Hell is real.” Different levels and sections will be studied and Satan’s lies revealed.

The Fruitful Church – Fruit is the key ingredient that the Holy Spirit wants from every believer and every church. This study will study what the fruit of the Spirit is and how it is to be uppermost in every church and believer. The class will explain the four types of fruit: fruit of the Spirit, fruit of life, fruit of souls, and the fruit of works.

SPECIALTY MASTER’S DEGREES AND CERTIFICATIONS

2 Timothy 3:16-17 – (Berean Study Bible) “¹⁶All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness, ¹⁷so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work.” (emphasis added)

The following Master’s Degree and Certificates may be selected by students based on their ministry calling or on their individual areas of particular interest. Students will seek faculty advisement with Dr. Stancil to establish suitability for selecting the area of study.

The course descriptions and lesson titles for these Master’s degrees/certifications are as follows:

MASTER’S/CERTIFICATE IN DELIVERANCE MINISTRY

Introduction to Deliverance Ministry 1 – This comprehensive will serve three primary purposes: Define and teach believers what deliverance is; expose where Satan has infiltrated the church and individual lives, and bring the believer into total freedom. People literally perish due to lack of knowledge in the area of deliverance. Some of the areas to be discussed are: tearing down strongholds, casting out demons, breaking soul ties and developing inner healing.

Introduction to Deliverance Ministry 2 – This course will uncover the five base spirits that entered man’s being when Adam and Eve sinned: distraction, deception, pride, fear, and jealousy. From these

Safe Haven Interdenominational Bible College and Training Institute Page 43

five roots spring every major sin and disruption of God’s Plan for men and women. We will study how one or more of these spirits is present in every person who is struggling with a stronghold. This module will identify many behavioral characteristics that we see in individuals and in our churches. The presentation of the material will demonstrate how the five base spirits build on and accompany one another with the intent to control an individual, nullifying their purpose and throwing them off course from God’s Destiny in their lives.

The Spirit of Addiction:  Alcoholism – This module begins studies in addiction. It will define addiction and its ultimate aim to control someone or something. It will go on to introduce the specific stronghold of alcoholism. The distinction between an addiction and a dependency will be studied. A further distinction will be made between the two types of alcoholics: the functional and nonfunctional alcoholic. The controlling spirit in alcoholism is the Leviathan spirit which will be discussed in depth along with accompanying spirits such as smoking.

Sexual Sins 1 – Sexual sin takes on many so forms that the prevalence and pervasiveness of sexual sin seem to be the norm in society today. This course will survey various forms of sexual sin such as: pornography and unnatural desires; spirit of lust; prostitution; the Delilah spirit; masturbation, and homosexuality. It will explore how these develop from what seem to be “normal” sources that are ravening wolves seeking to entrap and ensnare believers and unbelievers alike. Each lesson includes how to be set free in these areas and how to bind them from future generations.

Sexual Sins 2 – This module will take a deeper look at sexual sin by exposing the root demonic spirits behind strongholds and struggles Christians have in the privacy of their own bedrooms. Night demons of Succubus and Incubus torment people while they are asleep. Soul ties and how to be delivered from them are taught in this course. Lust and demonic control through physical contact will be discussed.

The Study of Curses: Witchcraft and Curses 1 – The origin and definition of curses begin this module. Curses such as the curse of disobedience, curse of the law and generational curses will enable students to discern these in themselves, co-laborers and in the church, in general. Discerning these spirits and destroying their authority are the keys to total victory and freedom.

The Study of Curses: Witchcraft and Curses 2 – The Hebrew word for witchcraft means “to attempt to control.” We will investigate how rebellion and disobedience open the door for witchcraft. Many Christians do not know that they are opening these doors. The class will demonstrate how witchcraft influences life from childhood on. The remedies for curses and witchcraft will be discussed in detail. Other forms of witchcraft will be studied: fear, demonic presence in animals and over objects, transferring spirits, and demonic attacks, to name a few.

Social Addictions – The church and the world have come to believe that there are “benign” sins and addictions. This module displays the truth behind Paul’s admonition in Galatians 5:9 that, “a little leaven leavens the whole lump.” The demonic influences behind so-called socially “acceptable” addictions such as smoking and overeating will be revealed. How to bring deliverance in these areas will be discussed in detail. Historic origins of smoking and its use in tribal rituals will inform and challenge students to view these social addictions through the eyes of the Holy Spirit.

May – Final ExamJune - GraduationMASTER’S/CERTIFICATE IN MINISTERIAL AND PASTORAL STUDIES

Homiletics I & II – This two-part course begins by defining and examining homiletics. The short definition for homiletics is the art of preaching. The second part of the course presents the different types of sermons, the scope of them, and preparation for them beginning with preparing the preacher’s heart for the message (s). The module will explain the difference between exegesis (critical explanation of a text or scripture), eisegesis (an interpretation, especially of Scripture, that expresses the interpreter's own ideas, bias, or the like, rather than the meaning of the text), and hermeneutics (the science of interpretation especially of the Bible).

The Study of Ministry – Beginning with the premise that ministers are men and women at work in the Kingdom of God, this module provides specifics such as identifying your calling, discussion of the anointing of God in your ministry, preparation and growth in your ministry, and, importantly how to wait for God’s Timing to begin ministry. The sixteen ministry gifts in the Bible are precursors to actual ministry. Students will learn the heart and spiritual conditioning needed to walk in their specific ministry calling which is deep in the spirit of men and women of God.

Study of the Jezebel Spirit versus the Delilah Spirit – In this study, we will talk about two of the dominating spirits of the church today that will reign heavily in the last days. These are the spirits of Jezebel and Delilah. Both seek to control but in very different ways. The Hebrew meaning for Jezebel is false or a false teacher. This spirit is very strong in the church today and it will get stronger as times go on because the antichrist is soon to come. While the Jezebel spirit wants to control, by contrast, the Delilah spirit wants to destroy. In Hebrew, Delilah means: “pining with desire” letting us know what she will use to conquer what she wants.

The Business Side of Ministry – Often neglected in Bible colleges and seminaries are classes which prepare pastors and other offices in the church to manage the business aspect of the church. Studies have proved that many discuss “Business versus Ministry” when the two go hand in hand, We will look at our Divine Example, Jesus Christ, and how He handled the business side of ministry. Other practices and pitfalls involving management, the pastor’s role with finances in the church and a number of other topics that provide substance to business and financial affairs in an effective ministry.

Church Order and the Make-up of the Church II – Originally studied in the Associate and Bachelor classes, this two-tiered class will delve more deeply into God’s Order and relationships in the church. How does the church relieve itself of spots and wrinkles so that it become the Bride for whom Christ will return? Based on that inquiry, the class will re-examine the 10 types of people found in the Church.

Pastoral and Ministerial Ministry I and II- The office gift of pastor is a particular calling which Jesus appoints. What are the elements that create effective pastoral ministry? This module will plumb the depths of what it means to be a pastor, the functions of a pastor, and the scope of pastoral ministry. Pastors should know their message, the people they are called to minister to, those to serve, and be a

problem solver, all founded on the love of Christ for His Flock. We will look at how the Bible describes a pastor: elder, shepherd, bishop/overseer, preacher, and teacher.

Understanding and Preventing Ministry Failure: Pitfalls in Ministry – There is hardly a day that goes by that we don’t see or hear of a minister falling for one reason or another. As you read these disheartening reports, you will notice that each one was preventable. As we move forward in our ministries, we must be wary of the common downfalls that destroy ministries. The module will study the four stages of ministry, revealing how some ministries get off track when being deceived away from their true, God-given purpose.

Understanding the Spirit of Reformation – The word Reformation means to reshape something back to what it originally was or was to be. It means to take something back to its original shape before it was bent out of shape or disfigured. One of the most powerful things missing in the church today is the spirit of Reformation. The church has been fighting but the church has not been reforming. The whole purpose of Reformation is to get the Church back to how God made us from the beginning, before the fall of Adam and Eve.

May – Final ExamJune - Graduation

MASTER’S/CERTIFICATE IN LEADERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT

Leadership Theory – Very crucial to any ministry or church is to differentiate between traditional leadership, transformational leadership, and charismatic leadership. This module will define and analyze each of these leadership styles which can shape a ministry or church. We will study the advantages and disadvantages of each leadership style.

Process of Leadership – Leadership is not a destination. Rather it is a continuous process. Students will learn the steps for continuous growth and development. This module will compare and contrast five types of leadership: positioned leadership; permissioned leadership; productivity leadership; developmental leadership, and the pinnacle of leadership. It is important for pastors to discern which type of leadership style and calling they are working with in themselves and in others.

Leaders in Continuous Growth – Define, Identify, Assess, and Grow are the processes in this module. Various types of growth will be defined and described. Leaders must be able to discern the leadership potential in others in their ministry and know how to nurture that potential. One must be able to assess their own leadership qualities and set themselves on a path of continuous, intentional development and growth.

Business in Leadership – This module will answer: What every church leader needs to know and be able to do regarding running the business of the church? Leaders must know how to bring business and leadership together. They should understand how to operate a business in order to run the church. We will look at models of how churches have accomplished these Biblically and successfully. The gifts of

the Holy Spirit are crucial in this area as the Holy Spirit will lead and guide them into all truth and to the people whom He has gifted to serve in these roles.

The Study of Ministry and Leadership – Availability and obedience are essential in any branch or form of ministry. This module will link ministry (men and women working in the Kingdom of God) with calling, gifting and anointing. God gives a special ministry to every minister. He anoints every individual minister in specific place. When you find your anointed place it will develop you, build your leadership skills, and increase you. The module will discuss the power and authority the Holy Spirit so that they move in His Strength and by His Leading; not their own,

Vision, Plans, and Details – To move from faith to faith in any level or aspect of ministry, we must have a faith plan from God regarding any assignment He has given us. This plan of faith will be manifested in three ways which succeed each other: Vision, Plans, and Details. Step by step as we obey, God will reveal each of these three. Many ministries have been weakened or fail when they moved without waiting for God to reveal these specifics. Another name for this module could be: “Learning to Wait on God.”

Study of Pastoral Ministry and Leadership I and II – What is Pastoral Theology? It is the study of the pastor or the pastoral ministry. The office gift of pastor is a particular calling which Jesus appoints. What are the elements that create effective pastoral ministry? This module will plumb the depths of what it means to be a pastor, the functions of a pastor, and the scope of pastoral ministry. Pastors should know their message, the people they are called to minister to, those to serve, and be a problem solver, all founded on the love of Christ for His Flock. We will look at how the Bible describes a pastor: elder, shepherd, bishop/overseer, preacher, and teacher.

Finances and Ministry – This module will investigate how finances work in church. It will also discuss how the people of God manage their personal finances, displaying the principle of good stewardship and an organized, sound approach to handling the resource God has placed in their hands. Funds collected by the church are not for the personal use of anyone in the church who has access to them. In our personal lives, what are the practices and truths that we live by? We can open doors or close them based on how we approach and utilize God’s Provisions.

MASTER’S/CERTIFICATE IN BIBLICAL ORIGIN

The Study of Dominion - The book of Genesis is the original plan of all creation. Therefore, to understand the plan of Satan you must understand the original plan of God. This module will transport us back to Genesis, to God’s Original Plan. In Hebrew, the word bereshith means “beginning.” The seven origins of God, as revealed in Genesis, will be focal points of this study of dominion. They are: Heaven and earth (cosmos); plants; animals; man and woman; disobedience/sin; death, and redemption. In addition to discussing each of these seven origins, this course helps us understand that Genesis is the

start of the seed. Revelation is the end of the seed. The whole Bible is set to give us an understanding of what happened to the seed, and for us to get back to the original seed.

Without Form: The Theology of Formation – This module looks back at the original Hebrew Biblical history to gain a truer perspective of power and authority in the earth today. Genesis 1:1 teaches us that the earth was without form, void, and darkness was on the face of the deep. The term “without form” in the original Hebrew is “tohuw” which means formless and in chaos or confusion. When Satan came to earth he created chaos and havoc on the earth before Adam and Eve were even created.

The Study of Good and Evil - This module discusses the inerrant authority of the Bible as an accurate account of the Will and Power of God and His Original Plan for mankind. It debunks theologians and liberal interpreters of the Bible who declare that some truths such as Jonah having been swallowed by the whale is not true and did not happen. This course traces these deceptive teachings back to their spiritual origin: Satan’s deception. It will survey lessons like: Biblical History and the Book of Revelation, the Relevance of the Trees in the Garden; God’s Plan for Marriage, God’s Original Plan, the bloodline Getting Back to God’s Original Plan, and Satan’s Original Plan.

The Last Day Plan of Iniquity on the Church – This module exposes Satan’s many tactics for destroying and deceiving the Church. Lessons discuss tares sown among wheat, the deceptiveness of lulling the church to sleep, false prophets and iniquity in the Church, the son of perdition, judging wheat and tares, and the ungodly. It concludes by explaining and celebrating the second Judgment: the rapture of the church.

The Theology of the Enoch Generation – This course will identify and describe who Enoch was and the significance of his name in his generation and the present one. It will discuss the relevance of the “Enoch Generation” which is the Bride of Christ, the Church. Importantly, the module examines the qualities that the church of Jesus Christ must embody: it must walk with God, be in total agreement with God, please God, endure until the end, become the last day Church, and exude the spirit of prophecy.

The Process of Jesus Christ - We must understand the Son so that we understand why the Father put so much focus on His Son. The Bible declares that, “In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God and the Word was God (John 1:1).” The Word was Jesus. The lessons in this module reveal Jesus Christ in His many roles in Heaven and earth. Students will see Him in numerous roles in the Bible – an angel of light, as manna from Heaven, the Anointed One, and the conquering Messiah who is Lord.

The Destruction of the Seed – Although Satan knows he is a defeated foe, he has attempted to find and destroy the righteous seed, the Messiah, since the beginning of man’s existence on earth. This module identifies and reveals these concerted efforts to destroy, not only the Promised Seed, but also the seeds of righteousness in mankind. Its lessons uncover Satan’s plans to contaminate the bloodline of righteous people. It will discuss who the Sons of God are: the true sons and the contaminated ones. In addition to warnings for the Church, the module also admonishes us to preach the Truth and Righteousness in the last days.

The Theology of Righteous Judgment – A critical, and often overlooked analysis of the make-up of the church, is the distinction between the righteous and the unrighteousness. After making that distinction, the module goes on to study righteous judgment and its significance in the Body of Christ. It will reveal

the deceptiveness that has crept into the church’s teachings on God’s Grace. Characteristics of righteousness and Biblical examples for tests on righteousness comprise vital components in the theology of righteous judgment.

DOCTORAL PROGRAM

Doctoral students will lay a foundation for writing their doctoral dissertations with three preliminary courses facilitated by Dr. Hattie B. Stancil. She will distribute the course material and provide instruction for each doctoral candidate.

The following discourse will introduce how to begin writing your Doctoral dissertation for all disciplines. It will define what a dissertation is followed by steps to begin the research and writing process. Doctoral consultations with Dr. Stancil and your own research about writing dissertations will aid you along this journey.

Students registering for the Doctoral Program must have completed their Master’s Degree at Safe Haven or another university or college. A dissertation is a formal treatise on a subject written as partial fulfillment of requirements for a degree, usually the Doctorate. It is an extended discourse or discussion written in an argumentative and learned manner.

It takes effort to organize and present your ideas. Your doctoral dissertation will provide practice in communicating your thoughts clearly. It is a self-teaching method that develops your ability to express yourself effectively in written form while you gain knowledge about your selected thesis or topic. “Experts encourage students to view the dissertation as a teaching exercise, in which they learn how to conduct, design and analyze independent research.” (Melissa Dittman; American Psychological Association)http://www.apa.org/gradpsych/2005/01/starting.aspx

Choosing your study area: Select a subject that is of particular interest to you. It should be a topic directly related to the field your degree will be in or your area of ministry calling. There are several aids to assist you in choosing your focal area.

(1) Pray, asking the Holy Spirit to show you what He would have you do.(2) It also is recommended that you review your lessons on Gift Matching found in

the Bachelor’s of Biblical Studies curriculum. (3) Reviewing the 21 gifts of the Spirit can help you select your topic.(4) Please confer with Safe Haven faculty, especially Dr. Stancil, for approval of other

subjects of interest to you.

The following is a brief review of the 21 gifts:

Safe Haven Interdenominational Bible College and Training Institute Page 61

Page 62: safehavenbiblecollege.homestead.comsafehavenbiblecollege.homestead.com/Safe_Haven_Policy.docx  · Web viewSafe Haven Interdenominational. Bible College and Training institute. 2019-2020

A) Office gifts are given by Jesus ChristB) Revelation gifts are given by the Holy SpiritC) Motive gifts are given by God (at birth)

D) From Ephesians 4:10, Office gifts are: Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor, and Teacher

E) I Corinthians 12:6-11 explain the nine Revelation gifts which are:a. Word of wisdomb. Word of knowledgec. Gifts of healingsd. Working of miraclese. Prophecyf. Faithg. Discerning of Spiritsh. Different kinds of tonguesi. Interpretation of tongues

F) Romans 12:6-8 outlines the seven motivational gifts which are:a. Prophecyb. Ministryc. Teachingd. Exhortere. Givingf. Ruler (leader)g. Mercy

After selecting and gaining approval of your topic, your work begins. Your completed dissertation is to represent original, independent research with other authors’ work clearly marked and quoted to avoid plagiarism. A goal of your dissertation should be to make a significant contribution to the body of work in this field.

Organizing yourself to initiate the work: A simple guide to follow as you organize your work is as follows:

1. Think about your chosen topic area.2. Write a practical list of what you need to do. 3. Write your thoughts about what you want to say in your paper. What point of

view will you be writing about? This begins the process of articulating your thesis statement or what you are proving in your paper. Begin with the end in mind.

Safe Haven Interdenominational Bible College and Training Institute Page 62

Page 63: safehavenbiblecollege.homestead.comsafehavenbiblecollege.homestead.com/Safe_Haven_Policy.docx  · Web viewSafe Haven Interdenominational. Bible College and Training institute. 2019-2020

4. Plan your work and then work your plan. “Writing the introduction and conclusion together will help to tie up the thesis together, so save it for the end.” (Ashish Jaiswal, PhD in business education, University of Oxford)

Organization of the dissertation:

1. Develop an initial thesis statement also called a hypothesis. What are you trying to prove? This might be altered once you have completed your literature review based on your research but identifying one now will guide your research so that you don’t get far afield from what you started researching.

2. Literature Review - Conduct an extensive review of existing literature from a number of sources. Carefully chronicle each research site whether you use that one in your dissertation or not. Have every research site written in its entirety in case you need to go back to it or so it will be complete in your bibliography. In this way you will also avoid plagiarism.

3. Your literature review could lead to deeper research into a related area. Be prepared to explore.o The existing literature might lead to interviews with individuals who are versed

on your topic or visits to other churches. One student whose dissertation was about modern day prophecy visited a Church Of God in Prophecy.

o It might also lead you to other forms of research such as historical documents about, for example, the Azusa Street Revival lead by the Holy Spirit through Elder William Seymour, Evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson, founder of the Foursquare (Pentecostal) Church, and the like.

4. “Once you feel confident that you've covered the literature, identify the rationale for your study, why it's important and what hasn't been studied about it before.” (Melissa Dittman, APA, 2005)

5. Write a paragraph or two that summarizes what you found during the literature review. This can help crystallize your revised thesis statement. It also will become one of the first sections of your dissertation.

With this introduction to organizing and writing your doctoral dissertation you are on your way. With academic advisement from Dr. Stancil, and prayerful counsel through the Holy Spirit, we are assured that you will have a successful end product!

By enrolling at Safe Haven, each student covenants to conduct themselves in ways that reflect credit to themselves, their Christian faith, and that honors and brings Glory to God.

o Students agree to be accountable for their personal, social and academic conduct while on a Safe Haven campus, affirming the dignity and value of each person with whom they interact.

o “Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” (Colossians 4:6)

o Students must abide by “truth in the inward parts” by speaking the truth at all times.o No class materials may be used when students are taking a test. o Your speech is to be seasoned with salt so that it will minister grace to the hearer. o Faculty and students will promote and create an environment permeated with the love of

God which maximizes learning and exemplifies God’s Kingdom on earth.

Students found in violation of these codes and standards will meet with their instructor and Dr. Stancil to determine appropriate disciplinary actions.

I understand and agree to abide by the principles set forth in this document. Furthermore, I will do all I can to promote honesty and integrity at Safe Haven.

Student Agreement to Adhere to Policies of Institute: Matriculation at Safe Haven (Class Attendance and Expectations)

Exams are derived from these 50 questions.
