TAMALE SALE!: Our catechists will be selling

freshly made tamales after Masses, December 9,

until they’re gone. Bring your $15 and help our

catechists get back to the Bosco Conference!

We now begin The Advent season, the beginning of

our new Liturgical Year. This is a time to prepare

ourselves for the second coming of Christ. It is also

a wonderful time for making some spiritual

adjustments and growth in our faith journey.

As your Pastor it is my duty to form you and lead

you in the proper celebration of the Mass. One area

of the Mass that I feel needs to be addressed is at

the receiving of the Eucharist.

At the time of receiving we have four options. 1st if

you are unable to receive you can remain seated.

Your next option if you are unable to receive is to

come forward with your arms crossed on your chest

to either the Priest or a Deacon to receive a

blessing.

If you are able to receive Communion, your 1st

option is to receive in the hand. The proper way to

do so is with your right hand under your left, held

up for the Minister of the Eucharist to place the

Host. Once you hold your hands out the minister

will say. “The Body of Christ”, (El Corpora de

Cristo) and you are to respond, “Amen.” The

minister will then place the Host in your palm. You

also have the option after you respond Amen to

receive on the tongue. If you choose this way after

responding Amen please open your mouth with

your arms down by your side.

Next to receive the Cup, the minister will say,

“The Blood of Christ”, (La Sangre de Cristo) your

response once more is, “Amen” and will be handed

the Cup. Please remember that you are receiving

the True Body and Blood of our Risen Lord, Jesus

Christ; we do not grab the Host or Cup from the

minister’s hands. Thank you and God Bless.

Fr. John W. Martin

MASS AT COUNTRYSIDE December 7th, 2018 at 10am

All are welcome to join us with our fellow parishioners who are living there. We have Mass there each 1st Friday

of the month at 10am.

As we start the journey that is Advent, we look to

the beautiful words of Mother Teresa:

"Are we ready to receive Him? Before the birth of

Jesus, his parents asked for a simple dwelling

place, but there was none. If Mary and Joseph

were looking for a home for Jesus, would they

choose … your heart, and all it holds? Let us pray

that we shall be able to welcome Jesus at

Christmas..."

We encourage you to prayerfully and purposeful-

ly enter into the journey that is Advent. If you

are looking for suggestions, please feel free to

contact the Formation Office.
