1 Hostel Room Intro

S P Jain Singapore campus has its own hostel rooms to accommodate its students. We can accommodate a total of 291 students in our campus hostel. In summary, we have 4 types of rooms, which is Single (23 rooms), Double (40 rooms), Triple (24 rooms) and lastly Quad (29 rooms). Our student hostels room are located at block A and Block C (4 rooms) in our campus.

1.1 In-House Rules of Hostel

• No visitors are allowed in the Campus after 2000hrs without prior approval. • Visitors are only allowed in Level 1. • Block A, Level 4, is strictly reserved for female students only. No male student is

allowed to go to level 4 from 2300hrs to 0800hrs (next day) • Block A, Level 5 & 6, are solely occupied by male students only. No female

student is allowed to go to these floors from 2300hrs to 0800hrs (next day) • Failure to comply will result in punishment • Facilities Team & Residence Managers has the right to check/inspect your room

without your prior consent on matters relating to hygiene, discipline and maintenance

• Students are reminded to dress appropriately when they are in common area (no bare body or wrap around with a towel)

• Only towels are permitted to be hanged on the drying rack provided. Please use the dryer stand to dry your other clothing’s

• No shoes are allowed to be kept outside the room; all shoes must be kept in the shoe drawer provided inside the room. Campus will not be responsible for any missing or lost shoes kept outside the room

1.2 Student RFID Access Card

(For Certain Campus facilities and Hostel Room Entry)

• All students will be issued a RFID door access card for certain campus facilities and their allocated room door (e.g. Library, Gym, hostel room)

• All students MUST WEAR the lanyard/student card at all times while in the campus

1.3 Hostel Door Access & Room Utility Usage

• All hostel rooms are accessible with the use of access card • To activate the air con, students must use the access card to slot into the Energy

Control Unit (ECU) to activate the power • To deactivate, just remove the card from ECU • Students are reminded to bring along their access card everywhere they go • Students can use the same access card to EXIT from offices such as

marketing/admission/faculty/Office

3 Cashless card system

• Your RFID card is programmed with a wallet function • You will need to top up the RFID card with cash at the cashless top-up kiosk at

Block A Level 2 besides the lift • The cashless system MUST be used to purchase your meals from Kamath’s and

Social Network Café with immediate effect

4 Laundry Room and Ironing Board

• Each level has a Laundry Room equip with card operated washing machines and dryers.

• Students may utilize the washing machines and dryers with the use of a laundry top-up card

• Pay the deposit amount and collect your laundry card from 9:00am to 6:00pm only (Mon to Fri only) from Accounts Office, Block A Level 2

• Each usage costs $1.00 and will be deducted from the stored value of your laundry card

• Please note that no laundry top-up card will be issued on Weekends and Public Holidays

• When processing the exit clearance, this laundry card must be returned and the balance or the value will be refunded by the Accounts Department

5 Refrigerators & Pantry

• Vegetarian & non vegetarian refrigerators on hostel floor level are for common use.

• Campus will not be responsible for loss of any food items kept inside the fridge

• Please monitor your food items personally and only buy food items that you can consume within 1 or 2 days

• Refrigerators will be cleaned every Tuesdays, between 4pm to 8:00pm

• Please label your food items and store them in plastic containers

• Campus will not be responsible for any food items thrown away that was not tagged

• Pantry is a common area to be shared by students living on the same floor, as such, it’s the student’s responsibility to maintain a clean and conducive common area,

• Do not leave any food items, unwashed crockery, pots and pans, and utensils around the sink & pantry area, will be thrown away during cleaning rounds on a daily basis

6 Inspection and Cleaning of rooms

• Room inspection will be conducted once a month, from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Facilities Team will send an email notification prior to their inspection. Inspection is to be conducted only during weekdays

• You are to keep all your personal valuables locked, campus will not be responsible for any losses

• Students are expected to clean and maintain their own room • Cleaning equipment (2 sets of browns, dustpan, mop and pail with wringer will

be provided for each floor, in the Laundry Room) • Do handle all equipment with care and any item found damaged will be charged

accordingly • Students are allowed to use the equipment only when required and pre-collection

/ reservation of equipment is strictly not allowed • All equipment must be returned to the Laundry Room, immediately after use • Random checks will be conducted by Facilities team and anyone found keeping

the equipment in the room without using will be charged accordingly

7 Facilities – Sports

7.1 Mini Gym Room

• You need to insert your RFID card into the Energy Control Unit (ECU) • The ECU is located on the right side of the glass door after you enters the Gym • turn on the aircon with the use of remote controller (after the RFID card is inserted into

the ECU) • aircon will be switched off if you remove the RFID card from the ECU or whenever the

window is opened • Do remember to remove your RFID before leaving the gym • Gym is open 24hrs.

7.2 Futsal Field

• Football field is located at the far end of the campus (next to Block B) • Students can play at night and the flood lights/spot lights are on from 7:00pm to

9:30pm • The entire field is measure 585sqm. and is made up of (Astro) turf • This field can also be used to play dodgeball game

7.3 Mini Basketball and Pickle Ball/Badminton Court

Basketball Court and Badminton Court are located next to the campus’ car park. Students can enjoy playing any time of the day.

*Pickle Ball/Badminton Court

*Pickle ball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Two, three, or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a whiffle ball, over a net. The sport shares features of other racquet sports, the dimensions and layout of a badminton court, and a net and rules similar to tennis, with a few modifications. Pickleball was invented in the mid-1960s as a children's backyard pastime but has become popular among adults as well.

8 Facilities – Music & Recreation

8.1 Music Room and Chill-out Lounge

• Located at Block B Level 2, Music Room opens by 9:00am and closes by 10:00pm. Chill out Lounge opens by 9:00am and closes by 3am

• Musical instruments such as electric guitars (lead and bass), keyboard, drum set, and tambourine. Amplifiers and speakers are also in placed.
