Welcome to our existing and new families of Newpark. We have recently undergone some room changes with Tegan joining Brooke in the Kindies Room, and Madi joining Renata in the Toddlers Room. This enables the educators to work with different age groups and bring new and fresh ideas to each room which is always beneficial in broadening the children’s opportunities to learn as well. The school holidays are fast approaching and we do still have some availability if you require extra days during this time. The school holidays commence on Monday 10 th of April to Friday 21 st April. Please remember we are still able to accept kindergarten and pre-primary children (up to 6 years of age) who would usually be attending school. Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to book some extra days. We would also like to welcome Dannyelle who has joined the team as a Qualified Relief Educator. Dannyelle brings expertise and experience working within the industry. It’s fantastic to have her on board. We were recently very lucky to have a visit from Captain Clean Up who attended the Centre and delivered a very interactive workshop known as Binners R Winners. The children were engaged in the importance of how to look after our environment by using the correct bins for rubbish as well as other sustainable practices such as making our own compost. The children danced and sang along with Captain Clean Up and also took turns in coming up and putting the rubbish into the correct bins. This was a great incursion for all involved. EYLF 2.4.7: Children develop an awareness of the impact of human activity on

the environment.

During March we celebrated Harmony Day as a reminder to embrace and accept all cultures in Australia. We participated in a group project of creating an outline of our hands and decorating them. We then put all of our hands artwork together on a board in the meals area for everyone to see. We also wore orange on this day as this is the official colour to represent Harmony Day. EYLF 1.3.5: Children develop strong foundations in the culture of their family and of the broader community

without compromising their cultural identities.

One morning during morning tea, Phoenix squeezed his orange and told our educator Brooke “this is how you make orange juice.” As an extension of this interest, Brooke thought that making their own orange juice would be a great activity for the children in the Kindies Room. Phoenix was very excited to hear this, and all of the children thoroughly enjoyed this experience and loved having freshly squeezed orange juice for afternoon tea. NQS 5.1.2: Every child is able to engage with educators in meaningful, open interactions that support the acquisition of skills for life and learning.

CHILD INTEREST & FAMILY INPUT Thank you for all of the family input we

receive. Sharing your special events, activities, culture

and any of your child’s particular interests with us is

extremely valuable towards developing our learning

The National Quality Standard sets a national benchmark for the quality of education and care services. It also gives services and families a better understanding of a quality service. This enables families to make informed decisions about the services providing education and care to their child. The National Quality Standard is a key aspect of the National Quality Framework. It brings together the seven key quality areas that are important to outcomes for children.

For the first time Australia has a National Quality Standard linked to national learning frameworks that recognise children learn from birth. This includes Belonging, Being and Becoming: The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (‘Early Years Learning Framework’)

The Early Years Learning Framework guides educators in developing quality programs for children. It describes the early childhood principles, practice and outcomes required to support and enhance young children’s learning from birth to five years of age, including their transition to school.

The National Quality Standard comprises of seven quality areas (all with their own standards and elements). QA1: Educational program and practice QA2: Children’s health and safety QA3” Physical environment QA4: Staffing arrangements QA5: Relationships with children QA6: Collaborative partnerships with families and communities QA7: Leadership and service management

As with every policy review, a copy will be displayed in the main foyer of our Centre. All comments and feedback you have for our consideration is greatly appreciated and always important as part of our policy improvement initiative.

Each day the educators use a checklist to ensure that all outside areas

and equipment are clean and safe for the children to use prior to

allowing them to go outside and play.
