SACRED HEART OF JESUS Whether statues or stained glass, the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus can be found in churches all

over the world. Jesus looks down, one hand extended out and another pointing to a heart

wreathed in thorns and glowing with light. In the Sacred Heart, we see both the sorrow and the joy of the life of Christ, who became one of us out of love. "Jesus knew and loved us each and all during his life, his agony, and his Passion and

gave himself up for each one of us ? He has loved us all with a human heart" (CCC 478). In the Incarnation, God becomes man. Jesus expe-

rienced the fullness of humanity, including its sufferings. June 8th is the Feast of the Sacred

Heart. We remember all that Jesus endured for us. We also remember why he endured it -- out

of love.

Second Collection: This week’s second collection June 10, 2018 will be for Holy Trinity’s Second collection will go to Holy Trinity’s Fiesta but St. Joseph’s second collection will go to Parish Improvement fund. Next week June 17, 2018 will be for Parish Improvement. "A liberal man will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.” Prov. 11:25 33 Days to Merciful Love: A Do-it-Yourself Retreat in Preparation for Consecration to Divine Mercy. It started Tuesday, June 5, at St. Joseph Parish Hall @ 7:00 pm. Holy Communion and Confirmation Pictures: If you had pictures taken of your child for the Sacraments of Holy Communion or Confirmation you may pick up your pictures during office hours. Vacation Bible School: Tuesday, June 12th thru 15th. Vacation Bible School. Volunteers are still needed. This year’s theme is “Shipwrecked”. Registration Forms will be available in vestibule of the church. Children will learn about Jesus’ ministry through Songs, bible Stories, games and craft activities. Everyone is welcome to come from 4 year olds to 5th graders. For more information call Debra Martinez at 505-634-6109. Procedures for Baptism: you must start by getting paperwork from the office, take the class which is

held on the 1st Tuesday of each month, at 6:30 pm at the Parish Hall. Return the paperwork and make an appointment with Father David to set a date. If sponsors are from a parish other than St. Joseph or Holy Trinity they must provide a certificate showing that

they are Catholics in good standing and that they have taken the necessary pre-baptism classes. Mass starts at 11:10 at Minium Park. No Mass at St. Joseph.

St. Joseph & Holy Trinity Annual Picnic: St. Jo-seph & Holy Trinity’s Parish Picnic will be held Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Minium Park in Aztec, behind Safeway. The picnic will begin with the 11:10 am Mass, which will be held at the park instead of St. Joseph Church. A potluck lunch will follow. The Church will provide the meat. Families with last names starting with A to M are request-ed to bring a side dish or salad. Families with last names beginning with N to Z are asked to bring fruit or dessert.

Offering Envelopes: We have called parishioners that are receiving the Sunday offering envelopes to ask if they are still interested in receiving envelopes in mail. We had a lot of the people ask us to remove them from the mailing list. We wish to thank all who support the parish. If you ever want to resume using the envelopes please let the office know and we will put on the list. The other option is on-line giving, call office for details. Thank you for your support.

Tenth Sunday in Ordinary Time June 10, 2018

Homeschool Mass: During the months of June, July, and August, the homeschool Mass will be on the third Tuesday of the month only. Regular schedule of first and third Tuesdays will resume in September. VACATION TIME IS HERE: Before leaving on vacation please remember to call for a replacement for the days that you will not be available to fulfill your assigned duty in your ministry. The list of phone numbers are sent along with the schedule if your receive the your schedule by email. If your use the schedules that we put in the back of the church in the plastic holder marked “Minister’s Schedule,” they are on the back of the schedule. Thank you for all you do for your parish. Diocese of Gallup Requirements: The deadline in upon us to update your file, Please return all forms that you were mailed to those who’s files are incomplete and not in compliance with the Diocese of Gallup. These files are background checks, Virtus Training Certificates, Volunteer Application forms and Code of Ethics. If you need a Virtus Certificate, print the online report from your training screen. After signing in go to your screen then go to training bulletin report and print the third screen. This screen is the one needed for the files here and the Diocese. The Padre’s Portion Brothers and Sisters; We read in the Gospel of John, “but one soldier thrust his lance into his side, and immediately blood and water flowed out. An eyewitness has testified, and his testimony is true; he knows that he is speaking the truth, so that you also may believe. For this happened so that the scripture passage might be fulfilled: ‘Not a bone of it will be broken.’” (19:34-36) Here we have the foundation for two great devotions in the Church. The first is that of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The second devotion is that brought to us through St. Faustina, the Divine Mercy chaplet said usually at 3:00pm. In the Divine Mercy pic-ture, Jesus is standing with rays of light, red and white (mixed with blue), coming from his heart. The rays of light depict the blood and water that flowed out of his side. The red light and the blood stand for that he is the sacrificed Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. The white light and the water stand for the purifying of his love that takes place. At our baptism, and then again at our funeral, we are clothed in a white garment. God is Love (1 John 4). Fr. David
