Our MissionSt. John Neumann is a welcoming community committed to witnessing to

Jesus Christ through sacraments, word and deed.

Do You Have Loved Ones Who Have Stopped Coming to Church?Do you know an inactive Catholic? Maybe they attend Mass infrequently, such as Christmas and Easter, don’t attend Mass at all or maybe they are a neighbor of yours who you know is struggling with issues of faith. We have had promising success at reaching out and encouraging inactive Catholics to give St. John Neumann another try. Please call Deacon Carl, Kim Mazzon or Jackie Sutton at the Parish Office at 740-965-1358, and we will call or visit anyone who might want to talk about coming back to the church. Thank you for your discipleship.

Do you regularly attend St. John Neumann? Will you or your children need to prepare to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, Marriage or Anointing of the Sick? Have you been asked to be a Godparent or Confirmation sponsor? Are you looking to enrich your spiritual life with a church family? Do you need support in the religious education of your children through the PSR program? Do you want a contribution statement for tax purposes? Would you like to get involved as a Liturgical Minister or in St. Vincent de Paul or another ministry at St. John Neumann?

If you answered yes to any of these questions and are not yet registered at St. John Neumann, please take a new member packet from the Information Lobby and return the registration form. We want to know you are here and welcome you!

BaptismsBaptisms will be celebrated again at St. John Neumann church! You will notice some differences due to the current health restrictions. For now, Baptisms will take place on some Saturdays after the 4:00 p.m. Mass and some Sundays after

the 5:00 p.m. Mass. All of the dates are not yet set. At this time, the following dates are scheduled and have an opening: August 9 and September 13.

Your family must be registered members of our parish to schedule a Baptism. Also, if this is your first child, you should attend a Baptism Preparation class. The next class will be held on Saturday, August 1.

Please contact Rosemary Halter at 740-363-6021 or [email protected] for further information or to schedule a Baptism.

2020 Bishop’s Annual Appeal“Living the Gospel,” the theme of the Bishop’s Annual Appeal, inspires us, as people of Faith to share joyfully the Good News of Christ to those who most need to feel His love. Works of kindness and assistance, sometimes in the smallest way, can bring about a profound change in a person’s life. Through the Bishop’s Annual Appeal, we have an opportunity to bring about a positive change in the lives of many of God’s people. Through your generosity, you are supporting the various ministries and programs that are so vital in spreading His love. The Catholic education of our children, preparation for marriage, the education of our future priests and deacons, and the many issues of social concern in our community are just a few of the programs that depend on our support of the Appeal. Pledge forms were mailed to all parish households the week of July 2. For more information or to make an online gift – visit https://columbuscatholicgiving.org/baa. Our parish Goal is $ 191,111.40Our diocesan Goal is $ 6,850,000.00 Any amount raised over our goal will be returned to our parish. We understand this is a very different, and for many families, a difficult year. We ask for your prayerful consideration; with everyone giving what we can. No gift is too small – or too large. Thank you! Father NobleJohn and Shelby Fleck, 2020 Parish Campaign Chairs

Mission Teachers NeededWould you like to share your faith with our 6th and 7th grade students? If so, our Mission program needs you! We meet on Wednesday evenings September-April, and are currently in need of volunteer teachers. We will be reducing our class sizes this year for social distancing purposes, and so we need more volunteers than in past years – 7 teachers and 7 aides for each grade level. We are also in need of several aides for both grades. No experience is necessary, and we will provide you with all of the materials you’ll need. There is a tuition discount for parents with students in the program, if you decide to volunteer. Please contact Kerrie Ritchey at [email protected] or 614-806-2692.

Welcome to St. John Neumann!

We recognize that every person is on his or her own journey of faith, and we seek to meet you where you are in your journey and provide you with opportunities to grow and learn at your own pace.

Our condolences and prayers to the Rowe and Campbell families. Luke Rowe, infant son of Kerry and Eddie Rowe, and brother of Marcella, passed away July 10th. Parishioner Judy Campbell also passed away on July 10th.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let your perpetual light shine upon them.

St. John Neumann Receives Grants from The Catholic Foundation

We have been blessed to receive two grants in the 2020 Responsive Grants Cycle distributed by The Catholic Foundation this year. The Catholic Foundation is pleased to award $2,700.00 this year towards St. John Neumann Parish’s project: Home for Good Project – Jail and Prison Reentry Ministry. The Catholic Foundation is also pleased to award $3,000.00 this year towards Columbus Catholic Young Adult Conference (Diocesan-Wide).

We are proud that the value of St. John Neumann’s outreach and Diocesan Columbus Catholic Young Adult Conference is being acknowledged and supported.

We are grateful to the donors who contribute to The Catholic Foundation that make these grants possible. Everyone can contribute at any time to the funds for our parish or those used for granting. The Catholic Foundation is a non-profit autonomous organization that receives and manages assets to provide funding for the parishes, schools and ministries within our Catholic community.

If you would like more information on contributing to existing funds that support our ministries, or would like to work on a planned gift of your own, please contact Scott Hartman at [email protected] at The Catholic Foundation, 866-298-8893.

Pray for Those in the ServicePlease continue to remember our military and their families in your prayers.

Lord Jesus, Savior of the World and King of Peace, watch over our sons and daughters in the service of their country. Protect them from the physical and moral dangers of military life. Keep them close to You and help them live the commandments. Lord Jesus, give them the courage to serve their country with honor and dignity. Be with them when they are in danger; strengthen them when they face hardships. Above all, Lord, grant that when their service is finished, they may return to us sound in body and soul. Amen.

If you are interested in this ministry, please contact Bob Copeland, [email protected], 614-596-0482.
