Even when we give to charity we often want something in return a raffle ticket, a dinner, a chance to play golf or our name in print. Yet, as Christian stewards, we need to remember that the true reward for our giving awaits us in heaven. RE Registration – Save the Date! Registration for the 2019-2020 Religious Education program will begin Sunday, August 25th. Please contact Monica Lisburg or Kirsten Fuglseth. The Religious Education program is in need of volunteer children's Religious Education substitutes to help spread the Good News and share the Catholic faith with our parish children. Please contact Monica Lisburg or Kirsten Fuglseth if you are willing to help out. Safe Environment training: Just a reminder that before anyone can work with the youth in our parish as a teacher, in Youth Ministry, as a chaperone, or any other capacity, you are required to have completed the Safe Environment Certification. If you have not already done so, please go to www.crookston.org and follow the link to the Safe Environment tab and take the training. Thank you. Altar and Rosary Society will have a meeting on September 11th at 7:00. All are welcome! Rockin’ 50’s Hoedown and Car Show: September 7th is just around the corner – just 1 week away. Now is the time to put together your silent auction baskets/items, My Favorite Things (3 identical items that are your ‘favorite things’) and Little Rascals Kids Auction items. Tables will be set up in the social hall for items to be dropped off. Five and Dime General Store It is time to putting together items for the 5 & 10 General store for our 10th annual Hoedown. Please mark your items for whatever you feel is a good pri ce. If you don’t have tags, I will have a bin of price tags for you to use. We are asking you to price your items 50 cents and up in 50 increments. Like .50-1.00-1.50-2.00 2.50 etc. makes it so much easier on the cashiers and for change. Canned food, craft items etc. can be brought in to the fairgrounds earlier as they will not spoil. You can bring in your other baked items Friday or Saturday morning before noon. People start coming at noon or before. Let’s fill those shelves and table with lots of variety of goods. Thank you in advance for your donation to the General store. Any questions please call Roberta at 218-945-3272 Adult Bible Study coming this Fall!! We will be having a bible study from Ascension Press on Romans “The Gospel of Salvation”. We will meet after Mass on Sundays 10am-11:15am beginning Sept. 15th. The study is 8 sessions so this should take us up thru mid-November. If Sunday mornings does not work, we encourage you to consider using the materials and start another group at a time that works for you. Either way, this is a great opportunity for fellowship and to grow closer in our walk with the Lord. Please contact Aaron & Liz Rongen with any questions. Cost $15.00 for participants book. Save the date! The Sisters of Saint Benedict are concluding their Centennial with a capstone event - a Mass on Sunday, September 15th, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Crookston. They are hosting this Mass to give thanks for, and to celebrate, the wonderful support they are so grateful for from all of their friends over these 100 years. A reception, with the gracious help of the Catholic Daughters, will be held following the Mass. This liturgy can be your Sunday obligation for the week. ALL ARE INVITED TO ATTEND! Christ is Alive! An event for all those working with our young people in our homes, schools and churches, will be held on Friday September, 13th for all DRE’s and Youth Ministers, from 4:30-8:00 p.m. at the Fairfield Inn, East Grand Forks, the cost is FREE with dinner too! On Saturday, September 14th, Christ is Alive will be held for all parents and ANYONE working with or raising youth! It will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Crookston. Cost is $10.00. Please RSVP at www.crookston.org/christisalive. St. Francis of Assisi, Fisher, MN is holding their annual Fall Luncheon and Bazaar on Saturday, September 14th from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Menu: Turkey A’ La King on Homemade Biscuits, Cranberry Sauce, Dessert & Beverage. Cost $8.00 and take-outs are available. There will also be a Craft & Bake sale. All are welcome! St. Andrew’s, Hawley, MN is holding their Fall Dinner on Sunday, September 15th, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Menu: Turkey, all the trimmings, assorted salads and desserts. Cost: $12.00, Ages 6 – 12 $5.00, Preschool - Free Letter to a Suffering Church, A Bishop Speaks on the Sexual Abuse Crisis, a book by Bishop Robert Barron, is available in the gathering area. We thank a parishioner from St. Lawrence for this gift. Labor Day Weekend, August 31st – September 1st, we will have our last Saturday evening Mass at St. Lawrence in Mentor, for the summer months. Saturday evening Masses will resume Memorial Day Weekend of 2020.
