In the post-graduate level: "Advanced Chemical Technology" and "Design and Operation of Wastewater Treatment Plants" (6-month courses).

Febr. 1989-Febr. 1990: Sabbatical year (12 months), obtaining from European Communities a mobility grant and working in the Environment Institute (Hazardous Wastes Unit) of Joint Research Center of Ispra (N. Italy) with Dr. L. Goetz. The research project was related with the “Applications of radioisotopes in speciation and flotation research”.

1987-1991: Lecturer at the Division of Chemical Technology, Department of Chemistry, teaching Laboratory courses, as well as the “Environmental Technology” (6-month course).

1981-1986: Research and Educational Assistant in the Laboratory of General and Inorganic Chemical Technology, Department of Chemistry, teaching undergraduate students (Laboratory courses) and preparing at the same time the Doctoral Thesis.

whereas more than 140 of them are belonging to the SCI lists) and review chapters in scientific books (10). Oral and Poster presentations in several International and Local Conferences/ Seminars/Symposia (totally over 160). More than 2000 citations have been appeared so far for the published work. Current educational duties and research interests are related with the applications

of Chemical and Environmental Bio/Technologies and with Environmental Management. More specifically, with the inter-disciplinary Separation Science and related Technologies: recovery/removal of metals from liquid waste streams; physico-chemical methods applied for the treatment of contaminated water sources or of wastewaters, such as filtration, coagulation, flotation, adsorption, membrane separation, oxidation etc.; biological (aerobic or anaerobic) treatment methods, or appropriate

4 combinations of biological and physico-chemical methods, such as biosorption or constructed wetlands. Also, in the treatment/recycling issues of toxic industrial solid wastes, employing hydrometallurgical, physico-chemical (solidification/stabilization), thermal (vitrification), or appropriate combinations of treatment processes.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS, SCHOLARSHIPS etc.: National Expert of Greece (General Secretariat of Research & Technology, 2004-

2006) in issues related with the implementation of horizontal activities during the 6th F.P. of E.U., as well as with the preparation of 7th F.P.

National Expert of Greece (General Secretariat of Research & Technology, 2006-2008) for the 7th Framework Program of E.U. in all issues relevant with “Environment”.

Sept. 1990 and 1992: Travel grants from the British Council of Thessaloniki (two times for 2 weeks each), visiting Universities (Newcastle, Imperial College, Glasgow) and attending Intern. Conferences in U.K.

May 1988: Inter-governmental exchange program of academic staff between Greece and Poland. Visiting for 1 month the Technical Univ. of Wroclaw, where a practical experience, regarding the application of radioisotopes for flotation experiments was obtained.
