Side Boards Comes from the outer side of the log, the visible quality is usually not as good as the central product, tends to have more deformations and falling knots.

Bark Energetics, decorations (gardens)

Certification of KVH, DUO/TRIO and BSH When gluing construction wood, demanding conditions are observed: 1) The producer has to obtain permission from the

authorities to produce glued load-bearing components. 2) The producer needs to develop his own testing and

quality control system – delamination and strength-grading tests.

3) The producer is subject to regular inspections and the products are controlled by various respective authorities as well as South African certification body SATAS.

Treatment Rough sawn timber is kiln-dried to a moisture of 16 % (+– 2 %). Lamellas used in the production of glue laminated construction timber are kiln-dried to a moisture of 8 % (panels), 12 % (BSH, DUO/TRIO) and 15 % (KVH). Kiln-drying also destroys wood pests. As kiln-dried wood is not usually attacked by common wood pest species, European countries have adopted a technical and legislative opinion that such wood does not have to be chemically treated, which is an important step towards greater environmental friendliness of wooden constructions. However, kiln-dried timber can be treated when the customer requires it.

Sustainability In Europe spruce is has been plated for centuries, the first law contributing to the sustainability of forests in Central Europe was issued in 1350 by Emperor Charles IV. Today is the sustainability ensured by local laws as well as international PEFC certification, which is very similar to FSC.

KVH structural timber is a kiln-dried and finger-jointed, strength-graded timber product made of solid softwood.

Dimensionally stable and 4 side planed. Suitable for timber frame buildings and timber constructions.

Typical dimensions Thicknesses: 40 - 140 mm Width: 60 - 280 mm Lenght: 11,95 m

KVHSpruce and siberian larch Kiln dried, not plained further processing, construction, non-visible structures, frames, suitable for rustical structures

Typical dimensions Thicknesses: 22, 25, 32, 38, 40, 50 mm Width: 150, 160, 200 and 240 mm Lenght: approx. 4 m

Available also 8m long rough sawn beams.

Utilisation Suitable for different types of construction

Typical dimension 1220 x 2440 mm Thicknesses 8/ 10/ 12/ 15/ 18 and 22 mm

The two- or three-ply (previously finger-jointed) laminated kiln-dried wooden components have higher visual quality thanks to lamination on the outer side of the beam. A premium building material with the look and feel of solid timber. Lamellas are horizontally laminated.

Typical dimensions Thicknesses: 60 - 200 mm Width: 100 - 280 mm Lenght: 11,95 m

The multi-ply laminated kiln-dried wooden components are a modern construction material, characterized by high bearing capacity and a good dimension stability. An ideal alternative to steel. Variety of dimensions, better structural values than Rough sawn timber or KVH. Lamellas (4 cm thick) are vertically laminated.

Typical dimensions Thicknesses: 120 - 1600 mm Width: 80 - 280 mm Lenght: 11,95 m

Cross laminated timber consists of three layers. The middle layer is rotated by 90° relative to the outer layers. High visual quality.

Perfect for building, construction, indoor use as well as furniture making.

Typical dimensions 2100 x 2900 mm 2100 x 5000 mm Thicknesses: 16, 19, 27, 42, 60 mm

NOVATOP is a complete building system with components made of large-scale cross-laminated solid wood (CLT – Cross laminated timber). Individual components are characterized by high strength and stability in the compressive stress and tension and exceptional static strength, it can be applied to walls, ceilings and roofs, and the result is a massive and really safe all-wood construction. All NOVATOP components are variable as far as width, length, thickness and height, and atypical shapes can be manufactured as well. The use of wood in a visible quality of the final design and planning is unique.

Smaller projects Novatop construction system is a perfect solution also for smaller projects, cabins and extensions of existing houses.

Construction speed The Hout Bay House was built in 23 days! The assembling of Novatop solid wood construction system took just 2 days.

Interesting projects Our projects awake worldwide interest in pleasant and ecological housing.

Research In cooperation with Students and Professors from South African as well as European universities we test different wall compositions and degradation of various timber species in South African weather conditions.

Protects against heat in summer Woodfibre panels help to create an ideal room climate both in winter and in summer, as their greater mass means they are particularly effective at buffering heat.

Protects against the cold in winter Highly efficient thermal insulation not only provides comfort, but also helps save energy.

Protects against noise Woodfibre panels offer outstanding protection from airborne and impact noise.

Prevents overheating in case of fire Woodfibre panels remain intact and therefore prevent oxygen influx, limiting the speed at which the fire can spread. There minutes can safe life.

Sustainable and environmentally friendly No raw material for insulation is more natural than wood. All PAVATEX products consist of untreated woodfibres pressed into panels in an eco-friendly process.¨

Prevents convective moisture damage The airtightness layer of the building shell should prevent warm and moist air penetrating building components and thus prevent convective moisture damage and condensation problems in construction.

PAVATEX products breath Buildings should be constructed so that they are permeable in order to allow humidity regulation of inside and outside air.

Since its establishment in 1932, PAVATEX has specialized in the manufacture of high-quality woodfibre insulation systems for the building envelope. Over 80 years of experience and innovation make PAVATEX the leading supplier worldwide. Pavatex offers outstanding insulation solutions, both for new projects and for the renovation of existing buildings. The ecological and sustainable woodfibre boards easily meet all the requirements for modern insulating materials and bring along a great many additional advantages.

fermacell is made from gypsum and recycled paper fibres. These two natural raw materials are mixed with water, without any other binders being added. The gypsum reacts with the water, penetrating and enveloping the fibres. The mixture is then pressed into stable boards under high pressure, dried, coated with a water repellent, and cut to the required sizes. This produces high stability and no combustibility Because of its material composition, fermacell boards are suitable for general construction, fire protection, and wet rooms.

Comfortable indoor climatefermacell Gypsum Fibreboards are made of gypsum and paper fibres, without any other binders. The breathing and insulating material ensures a comfortable indoor climate.

Load carrying Up to 50 kg per cavity fixing and 30 kg per screw. Eliminates Noggings.

Suitable for wet roomsfermacell Gypsum Fibreboards are extremely suitable for rooms with variable humidity, e.g. domestic bathrooms.

Impact resistantfermacell Gypsum Fibreboard reduces double layering or the use of sheathing ply. The homogeneous board structure makes it sturdy and able to withstand mechanical loading.

Fire resistant60 minutes fire resistance from single layer partitions up to 10 m high. Class ‘0’ certification. European class A2.

Perfect sound insulation

Spruce is a good solution for the interior and for facades which are not directly exposed to weather.

Siberian larch is generally considered as a very durable wood species. The slightly red surface turns grey after being exposed to weather without using a surface treatment.

Thermic treated pine is very durable solution for outdoor using. The manufacturing process of Thermo-Wood is based on the use of high temperature (185-225 °C) and steam. The process improves dimensional stability and biological durability of wood.
