The year that was….

This academic year was an incredibly busy one for students, staff and faculty involved in MESA, SETA and

PASEO. On top of all the studying that went on in AEWs (more than ever before) and one-on-one tutoring,

there were university visits and trips, loads of community service work and many guest speakers. Here is just

Larry Owens Duane Goodwin Charles Rush “As always, it has been a pleasure working with the officers and members of SETA. I was very impressed with the high rate of participation in events like Expanding Your Horizons, Science Olympiad and the Santa Teresita Science Center project. It is gratifying to see how SETA has grown over the past eight years from a group of about 10 students to having 70-90 students at our meetings, being involved in campus and community activities, and creating a learning community among STEM majors to help each other achieve their academic goals. Thanks for a great year! Keep up the good work!”

“This is always an exciting time of the year. Students are graduating, transferring, preparing for internships and a few students are already looking at texts for their upcoming fall classes. I have gotten to know many students personally through university visits, conferences, lab tours or their time spent in the MESA Center. It is gratifying to see our students succeed academically, mature personally and professionally, and develop lasting friendships with their colleagues. “

We managed to welcome the PASEO students into the fold and add a community service component to our STEM community….well over a thousand person-hours of service throughout the year. And even with all that the standard of excellence in academic performance remains at the highest levels!”

expanding our knowledge at each SETA meeting. In addition,
