Archdiocese. Many of the men on the list have left the priesthood but continue to “freelance” which is strictly forbidden. Some of the men on the list have been accused of sexual misconduct and have been removed or suspended from the priesthood.

4. Some of the men on the list have left the Roman Catholic Church and have joined schismatic or heretical groups such as the “Old Catholics,” “American Catholics,” etc. These local “churches” include: a. NUESTRA SEÑORA DE GUADALUPE 2583 East

Carson St., Carson b. CRISTO REY 12814 S. Willowbrook Ave., Compton c. SAN FRANCISCO DE ASIS 2721 E. Florence Ave,

5, Long Beach h. SANTÍSIMO SACRAMENTO 1900 East Carson St.,

Long Beach 5. Practicing Catholics who wish to remain in good

standing with the Roman Catholic Church may not attend these churches or receive any of the sacraments they offer. In most cases these sacraments are illicit. In some cases they are invalid.

a. NUESTRA SEÑORA DE GUADALUPE 2583 East Carson St., Carson

b. CRISTO REY 12814 S. Willowbrook Ave., Compton c. SAN FRANCISCO DE ASIS 2721 E. Florence Ave,

Huntington Park d. SAGRADA FAMILA 6401 Rugby Ave., Huntington Park e. SAN JUAN DIEGO 1202 East Plymouth St., Long Beach f. SANTÍSIMA TRINIDAD 3908 Woodruff Ave, Long Beach g. "LA CATEDRAL" DIVINO NAZARENO Atlantic y la calle 5,

Long Beach h. SANTÍSIMO SACRAMENTO 1900 East Carson St., Long

Beach 5.

FROM THE PASTOR LABOR DAY MASS SCHEDULE – Tomorrow, Monday, Sept. 2nd is Labor Day. The parish and school offices will be closed in observance of this civic holiday. Please note that there will be only one Mass celebrated that day at 10:00 a.m. We will celebrate the special Mass of Blessing of Man’s Labor. A reminder that there is only one scheduled Mass at 10:00am on the following holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day. On these four holidays the church and parking lot will be opened around 9:00am and closed shortly after the Mass. These are beautiful days to celebrate the Eucharist and pray for our country. MOTHER OF PERPETUAL HELP FIRST WEDNESDAY MASS THIS WEEK –The Novena in honor of Our Mother of Perpetual Help is prayed each Wednesday at 6:30 pm. For the present time we have added the celebration of the Mass after the novena prayers on the First Wednesday of the month. FIRST FRIDAY MASSES THIS WEEK – On the First Friday of each month we have the usual weekday 6:30am and 8:00am Masses in English in the morning and we add a bilingual Mass at 7:00pm. The Blessed Sacrament is exposed on the altar after the evening Mass until 10:00pm. The first hour is a silent Holy Hour followed by reflections and prayers in Spanish beginning at 9:00pm. Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament takes place about 9:50pm. ARCHDIOCESAN FEAST DAYS – September 1st is the feast of St. Vibiana, the secondary patroness of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. This week we also celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of the Angels, principal patroness, on Sept. 4th and the Anniversary of the Dedication of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels on Sept. 2nd. These feast days are a great reminder and opportunity for all of us to pray for all the members of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Let us pray especially for our Archbishop and for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and Consecrated Life. SPREAD THE GOSPEL! - The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the program designed for converts to the Catholic Faith. If you know of someone who is interested in becoming Catholic but doesn’t know what to do, please encourage them to join our new RCIA class. Registration is taking place now. For further information please call the Religious Education Office. Don’t be afraid of inviting a non-Catholic friend or relative to enter the Church. Many people are simply waiting for the invitation! ILLICIT HOME MASS (2nd Notice) - It was recently brought to my attention that a parishioner hosted a priest from out of town who conducted a “Home Mass.” During the Mass the priest contradicted the Church’s teaching regarding being “in the state of grace” in order to receive Holy Communion. Please note the following: 1. Every priest in the world must have the permission of the

local bishop in order to minister in the bishop’s diocese. 2. “Home Masses” may not be celebrated without the

permission of the local pastor. I was not approached or asked for permission so this was an illicit Mass.

3. The Archdiocese has a long list of men who are not permitted to celebrate Mass in the three counties of the

For adults who are aware that some touching can be inappropriate or can appear to be a boundary violation even though it was initiated by the child, it can be difficult to respond in these instances. Healthy, appropriate touch is important for children. Use these instances as teachable moments where you can affirm your affection in words and guide an appropriate touch by description and example. Some examples of this could include patting a child on the shoulder or back, high fives, holding hands out of the classroom or when crossing the street, or helping a young child tie his shoelaces. As part of our commitment, the Archdiocese has updated the www.archla.org/protect website with valuable information and resources on how to protect our children and young people from child sexual abuse. For more information, read the VIRTUS® article “The Healing Power of Touch, Part II” at http://www.la-archdiocese.org/org/protecting/Pages/VIRTUS-Current-Online-Articles.aspx.
