RZSS has teamed up with Clydesdale Bank to

offer FREE sessions to primary school children

all over Scotland. The project delivers an

outreach programme on Scotland’s amazing

biodiversity via a bespoke double-decker

bus. The bus has been fully converted

to provide a unique and inspiring teaching

space and provide fun, practical sessions

that fully complement the Curriculum

for Excellence. Topics include beaver and

wildcats, mini-beasts and endangered animals.

The RZSS Beyond the Panda outreach programme aims to

provide people with an understanding of China, its language,

geography, habitats, flora and fauna. In particular participants will

learn about the giant panda and the RZSS China/UK conservation

breeding programme and research. Within the programme, the

China Mobile Library provides our unique resources to schools

for a three day loan period, there is also teacher CPD available.

Our 82 acre site is home to over 700 animals

from all over the world. With favourites like

penguins and tigers to more unusual residents

like Socorro doves there is something for everyone.

Education sessions are delivered in the Education

Centre, out in the Park or even in our new Wildlife

Garden, some including hands-on experiences

with some of our smaller zoo animals.

Entrance to the Zoo is at a reduced rate for

groups taking part in an education session.

Set in 200 acres of the Cairngorms National Park,

RZSS Highland Wildlife Park is home to over 200

animals including polar bears, Japanese macaques

and local species like the Scottish wildcat.

The education sessions can take place in our

Education Centre, out in the Park or even on your

own bus as it travels through the drive-through.

Entrance to the Park is at a reduced rate for

groups taking part in an education session.

Welcome to the 2016/17 brochure for the RZSS Schools Education

Programme. Our team create and deliver interactive, fun sessions

for pupils from nursery through to Advanced Higher, all linked

to the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence and SQA qualifications.

Our multi-award winning education

programmes are delivered at our

two parks (RZSS Edinburgh Zoo and

RZSS Highland Wildlife Park) and at

schools through our two outreach

programmes; Beyond the Panda

and the Wild about Scotland bus.

Our wide ranging sessions cover

topics from specific animals or

habitats local or further afield,

to sex education and genetics.

Education is at the heart of our RZSS

mission to connect people with

nature and safeguard species from

extinction. Our schools programme

is one of our most effective tools

to inform and inspire young people

about our natural world and the

conservation work of RZSS.
