THE IDEAS

ALL-IN-ONE DELIVERYThis proposed application would serve as an all in one delivery service for ordering items for delivery in the user's area. This application would allow the user to search for food delivery in his/her area using location services, and then upon selection of a delivery option, also allow the user to place an order for delivery using the same application. The platform that I'd like to use for this application idea would be an Android/iPhone App. Utilizing this application would be a convenience to users by eliminating additional steps that users currently have to take to search for delivery options in his/her area and then place an order for delivery. The target audience is anyone with a smartphone who would like the ease of access of using a single application to search and place an order for delivery in their area. This idea will help the user with merging multiple steps included in the process of finding delivery places in the area and placing an order for delivery. The target audience can currently complete this task by first locating delivery options in his/her area using Google Maps, Mapquest, etc., and then using the online delivery ordering for the chosen delivery option by accessing the specific app or website to process the delivery request. If the requested delivery option isn’t currently available for processing online, the application will give the phone

number for the specified delivery option, such as can currently be found using Google Maps or performing a simple Google Search of the location.

PARKING SPOT PINPOINTThis app would make it so that it would be possible to figure out a person's car parking location based on a GPS system. The app program would allow the user to submit where they parked then leave to do their activities. Whenever they would go to find their car, they could go to the app and press “Find My Car”, the app would then use the GPS to track the car and show a stylized version of the parking lot and the user's location relative to the car.  The app would have stylized parking lots for every big parking lot in the city of Baton Rouge.

- Steven Okoye

MOVIE IDENTIFIERThis app would let you use the microphone on your smartphone to identify movies and TV shows. When it identifies them, it will pull up information such as cast and crew, awards, etc.

- Steven Okoye

RECIPE GENERATORAn app that mainly helps the user figure out what to eat. The user enters the ingredients that are available to use and the app searches for a recipe that can be made from the ingredients they have entered.

- Hassan Al Owaid

RYVER26 Years

Every day, millions of people are constantly check Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, the three largest social networks today. In September of last year, Twitter reported an average 6.9 million daily active users (DAUs); Instagram reported 7.3 million DAUs; Facebook reported 584 million. A quick, tech savvy user can switch between these three apps in about half-a-second. Taking each service's DAUs into account (and unscientifically assuming that there's 6.9 million people who use all three services, and that they check each service four times a day), a user spends about 24 hours a year switching between Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Every month we collectively spend approximately 26 years switching between apps. That's over 312 years of human time wasted every single year.

Okay, the math is a bit fuzzy, but the fact remains: we spend a nice chunk of time switching between services when there's a much nicer solution.

On the Shoulders of Giants

TweetDeck, released in July 2008, sought to ease the pain of switching between services by combining Twitter and Facebook (Instagram wasn't released until

October 2010) into one application. Users were able to see a stream of Twitter and Facebook posts in one location. In May 2011, TweetDeck was purchased by Twitter for a rumored $40-50 million. In other words: people apparently liked this functionality.

With Facebook's switch to an algorithmically sorted Facebook feed (items on Facebook don't appear in chronological order like they do on Twitter and Instagram), the need for an app that combines all these services into one location to consume is apparent.

So, all that being said, say hello to Ryver.

Take a Dip

Ryver (pronounced like river) is intended to be an elegant, simple, and (most importantly) quick way to see what's happening on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Intended more for consumption rather than interaction, Ryver is read-only, meaning that you can't comment, like, favorite, etc. the items in your Stream, but with a simple tap, you can open the item in its respective application so that you can do so.

(Continued on next page)

RYVERSince we check our social networks on our phones, tablets, and computers, the easiest way to make Ryver available on all of them is to build it using web technologies, taking advantage of all the newest features the web has to offer. Since it's web-based, Ryver can be made available on every platform: iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Firefox OS, BlackBerryOS, and even platforms we haven't invented yet. That's the way it should be.

The Big Picture

Ryver's goal is to reduce the amount of time we take going into and out of applications to simply consume content. Starting off with the three most popular social networks, Ryver can expand to include other sources of content such as popular blogs, news sites, and more.

What will you do with your extra day?

- Dylan Staley

PARKPLACEAs Students we struggle on a daily basis during certain hours of the day to find a parking spot.At times one might be in the lots going in circles for anywhere from 5 -30 minutes to find an available space.

So I propose creating an app that would utilize existing applications to locate empty slots   within the lots so you can locate them and can also see which ones are close to you , or if other  vehicles are closer to the empty spots than you are.
