INSTITUTIONALMISSION,INSTITUTIONALOBJECTIVE,EDUCATIONALOBJECTIVEANDPOLICIESMISSIONSTATEMENTThemissionof RyonCollege is to provide access toquality, affordable education, so that students canobtain skills necessary toachievesuccessintheirchosenfieldofstudy.Beginningwithacommitmenttoexcellenceineducation,thecollegefocusesoneachindividual student and strives to provide training programs that promote values and ethical standards which prepare them tobecomeaproductivepartoftheircommunity.INSTITUTIONALOBJECTIVERyonCollegeiscommittedtoeducatingandpreparingstudentswithprogramspecifictrainingandtechnicalskills,whichincludeablend of lecture and laboratory simulation assignments. Ryon College also places emphasis on developing the professionalattributesof studentsbyemployingmature, industryprofessionalswhocreateand teach inawork-likeenvironmentoncampus.Studentswillreceiveamaximumamountofpersonalattentioninclassesthatarelimitedinsize,nottoexceedtwentystudentsperclassroom.EDUCATIONALOBJECTIVERyonCollege'seducationalobjectiveistoprovidestudentswithbasic,entrylevelknowledgeandskillsrequiredbycompaniesandagencieswithinthemedical,computerandbusinessindustries.Theeducationisintendedforadults,highschoolgraduatesandnon-highschoolgraduateswhoareofcompulsoryageandcanpassanapproved“abilitytobenefit”exam.RyonCollegeusestheCELSAtest,whichisadministeredbyanindependent,third-partyproctor.ArequiredminimumpassingscorefortheCELSAform1test=97,andapassingscorefortheCELSAform2test=97.Theminimumpassingscoremustbeachievedforadmissionintotheschool.Allprogramsofstudyconsistofablendoftheoreticalandpracticaltraining,whichinclude"handson”laboratorysimulationswithmaterialsandactualscenariosofthetypical industryjobassignments. Thisspecificblendoftrainingoffersstudentsvaluablepre-employmentexperience. Eachgraduatewill beprepared toenter theworkforceandutilize their specialized training toperformtheir new jobassignments andmayalsoexperienceopportunities for career advancementdue toenhanced skills obtained fromtheirtraining.HISTORYOFTHESCHOOLRyon College was founded in the year 2012 in the city of Riverside, CA. Since its inception, Ryon College has been providingvocational training to the residents of Riverside and surrounding areas of Orange County. To this present day, Ryon Collegecontinuouslystrivestoprovidequalityeducationandcontinuesitscommitmenttoexcellenceandservicetoitsstudents.

PHYSICALDESCRIPTIONOFINSTRUCTIONALFACILITIESRyonCollege,occupiesapproximately4,000squarefeet inatraditionalcampusfacility locatedat7028IndianaAve.Riverside,CA92506.Facilitiesinclude:onewomen’sandonemen’srestroom,variouscomputersystems,audio/visualequipment,oneStudentResource Center with reference texts and manuals, 5 classrooms and one clinical laboratory, one student lounge, and otherequipmentaidsfrequentlyusedinclassandlaboratorystudies.Theoverallcapacityofthefacilityis100studentsatanyonetime.Thesatellite facility inBellflower includes3classrooms,1clinical laboratory,2bathrooms,onestudent lounge,variouscomputersystems,andaudio/visualequipment,andcanaccommodateupto30studentsatanyonetime.

ENTRANCEREQUIREMENTSANDADMISSIONSPOLICYEachstudentadmittedtoRyonCollegeshallpossessahighschooldiplomaoritsequivalent,orotherwisesuccessfullytakeandpassan“AbilitytoBenefit”examtodemonstratethattheymeetestablished“AbilitytoBenefit”criteriaandwillalsobenefit fromthetrainingoffered.RyonCollegeusesan“AbilitytoBenefit”test,whichisapprovedbytheUnitedStatesDepartmentofEducation,asanentranceexamforstudentswhohavenotcompletedtheirhighschooldiplomaoraG.E.D.Theschoolwillonlyconsideranon-high school graduate forenrollment if theyexhibit anability tobenefit from theeducationand training that isoffered;pass theUnited StatesDepartment of Education approved “Ability to Benefit” exam; andhavemet all other requirements for admission.Eachhighschool/G.E.D.candidateacceptedfortrainingmustprovideacopyoftheirdiplomaandcompletea“requestfortranscriptform”tobesenttotheirhighschoolorPostsecondaryinstitutions.

ENROLLMENTPOLICYANDPROCEDURES All candidates for all programswillmake an appointment to interviewwith anAdmissions Representatives. Upon arrival at theschool,theapplicantwillcompleteanapplicationcoveringtheirpersonal,educational,andemploymenthistory,andindicatetheirprogram of interest. During the interview, they will discuss the program of study, the candidates’ level of motivation anddetermination,andtheprocessofenrollment.TheAdmissionsRepresentativewillalsodetermineiftheprogramofstudymeetsthepersonalgoalsandcareerobjectivesofthecandidate.

Thecandidatewillthenbegivenatourofthecampusandshownthefacilitiesandequipment.Thetouralsoincludesanexplanationofclassroominstructionandareviewofcourseworkandmaterials. Thecandidatewillalsobegivenabrochurethatisspecifictotheir program of interest and “School Performance Fact Sheet”, and if the candidate determines that they wish to enroll, therepresentativewillcontinuewiththerequiredtesting,andwillalsoensurethatthecandidatemeetsallotheradmissionscriteria.Asouradmissionsrepsandmostinstructorsarefullybilingual/biliterate,RyonCollegecanofferrecruitmentinterviews,aswellasalldiscussions,enrollmentagreements,disclosures,andstatements, ineitherSpanishorEnglish. Ifnecessary,a languageproficiencyassessmentwillbeadministeredatthistimetodetermineeligibilityforEnglishorSpanishinstruction.

AmeetingwithaFinancialAssistancerepresentativeisalsoheldtohelpthecandidatedeterminehowtheymaybeabletoaffordtheir tuition and fees. Presuming all requirements and standards of admissions are met, and the applicant is motivated andpreparedtomakethefinancialandpersonalcommitmenttowardtheirchosentrainingprogram,anenrollmentagreementbetweentheschoolandtheapplicantisthencompletedandsigned,andtheregistrationfeeispaidtothecollege.

Whenacceptedintothecollege,eachprospectivenewstudentmustarrangetheirscheduletobeatthecampuslocationtoattenda“newstudentorientation”conductedbycollegestaffandfaculty;theywillbeinstructedastothedateandtimeoftheirorientationby their Admissions Representative. Ryon College will inform candidates of their acceptance or denial status after the entireadmissionsprocesshasbeencompleted. RyonCollegeretainstherighttoacceptorrejectanapplicantbasedonthecandidate’scharacterreference,scholasticrecordand/orschoolfinancialrecord.RyonCollegehasnotenteredintoanyarticulationagreementortransferagreementwithanyothercollegeoruniversity.RE-ENROLLMENTPOLICYStudentswhowishtore-enrollinthesameoranotherprogram,shouldfirstsubmitinwritingalettertotheSchoolDirector,notingthereasonforinitialwithdrawalandreasonsfordesiretore-enroll.Anystudentwhore-enrolls(sameprogrampreviouslycanceledor terminated from) must sign a new Enrollment Agreement at the current tuition rate. This procedure is for a “Seven DayCancellation”aswellasprogramcancellationsorterminations.TheRegistrationFeemustbepaidpriortoanapplicantre-enrollingunlessotherapprovedarrangementhasbeenmade. Alloutstandingbalanceduetoprogramcancellations/terminationsmustbepaid infull,unlessapprovedarrangementsaremadebeforetheycanre-enroll.Thestudentwillbecreditedforanybooksand/orsuppliesthattheyhavepreviouslyreceivedandpaidfor.Ifanupdatedtextbookisrequired,thestudentwillincurthenewtextbookcost.

Anystudent,whore-enrollsfromtheirlastdateofattendance,mustsignanewenrollmentagreement.Studentsre-enteringmayreceiveapartialorfullcreditforanypriorRyonCollege.Schoolpaymentsreceivedwillbecreditedtotheapplicableprogram.Theremainingcreditbalanceswillbetransferredtothenewprogram.Anyincreaseinthebooksand/orsupplieswillbeincludedontheenrollmentagreement.Theschoolatitssolediscretionwilldeterminethestudent’sre-enrollment.Changesfromoneprogramtoanotherarenot considered re-enrollmentand studentsmust signanewenrollment contract. Additional informationoncoursechangescan found in thiscatalogunder“ChangingorSwitchingPrograms”. Student’s individual tuitionand financemattersmaydiffer;therefore,itisimportantthatallfinancialobligationsarediscussedpriortore-enrolling.

CREDITEVALUATIONPOLICY-ACCEPTANCEOFCREDITFORPRIOREDUCATIONOREXPERIENCERyonCollegedoesnotofferdegreeprogramsoraccepttransferstudents,thereforenocreditforpriortrainingoreducationcanbegranted.

MAXIMUMENROLLMENTANDCLASSROOMSIZEEachcoursehasamaximumclasssizeof20studentsperclassroomorlaboratorystudy.ENGLISHASASECONDLANGUAGE(ESL)WhileRyonCollegedoesnotofferESLClasses,facultyandstaffareequippedtoprovidesupportandtutoringinSpanishasneeded.

STUDENTSTATUS ProgramsofferedbyRyonCollegeare consideredas full-timeprograms; therefore, studentsenrolled inanyprogramsofferedbyRyonCollegeareconsideredfulltimestudents.

DISTANCEEDUCATIONToaccommodate studentswhoarephysicallyunable to attend classeson campus, someof theRyonCollege courseshavebeenadapted for distance education. Thevocationalprogramsarestructuredmodules,whichincludecoursesorsectionsofinstruction.Subjectmatterisbasedonsolideducational principles to assure thathigh standards aremaintained. Thedesign is flexible toprovide for the integrationof newtechnologiesandtechniquesastheyaredeveloped.Theteaching,learningmethodsandmaterialsarecompetencybasedandallowanindividualtoprogressastheygaincompetencyinspecific subjects. Instructional techniquesareemployedso that students receive theattention required to reach theirobjective.This combinationof technique and scheduling assures that diligent participants can attain their goal in an efficient andeffectivemanner. Using this schedulingmethod and curriculum structure, alongwith competency-based learning and teachingmethods,allows a student to commence classes every four (4) to five (5) weeks on a space availability basis and progress through theirprogramtograduation.

STUDENTLEARNINGRESOURCESIf a studentwishes to gain access to a library, the officewill provide themwith the addresses and hours of operation of publiclibrariesneartheschoolortheirhome.RyonCollegealsomaintainsadedicatedPC,locatedatthemaincampusinthePCclassroom,with an organized library of links to online resources for supplemental studymaterials, core skill-building, enrichment, and jobsearch.Accessisavailabletoallstudentsonfirst-come,first-servebasisweekdaysfrom1-5pm.

STUDENTLOUNGEThestudentloungeisavailablefortheconvenienceofallstudents.Studentsareaskedtousecarewhenusingtheloungefacilitiesandtoalsopracticecleanlinessbydisposingofalltrashintheappropriatecontainerlocatedinthestudentlounge.REFRESHERTRAININGGraduateswhodesirerefreshertrainingwithin2yearsofgraduation, inanyof thecourses,maybeadmittedtoretakeadesiredmodule. The charge for such training, if any, will be determined at the time of enrollment. Admittance is based on spaceavailability.TUTORINGTheschoolprovidestutoringatnoadditionalchargebasedontheindividualneedsofthestudentandtheInstructor'sschedule.Thestudentmustbeinsatisfactoryattendancestatustobeeligiblefortutoring.Studentswithamodulegradelowerthan70%or“D”automaticallybecomeeligiblefortutoringpendingareviewoftheirattendancestatus.Ifthisshouldoccur,thestudentistomakeanappointmentwiththeirinstructorortheEducationDirectortoarrangeforatutoringsession(s).CLASSROOMTEMPERATURESClassroom temperaturesmay fluctuate slightly. It is impossible to accommodate every individual's comfort zone. However, theschoolwilldo itsbesttomaintainamoderate/averagetemperaturethroughoutallareasofthecampus. HOUSING–RyonCollegeisanon-residentialvocationaltraininginstitutionand,assuch,dormitoryhousingisnotoffered,ownedormaintainedbyRyonCollege.Theschoolhasnoresponsibilitytoassiststudentsinfindinghousing.Houserentalsexistwithinaone-mileradiusoftheschoolatanaveragemonthlycostof$1370,however,availabilityofarentalisneverguaranteed.

MEDICALCARERyonCollegedoesnothaveoncampusmedicalcare.Inthecaseofamedicalemergency,911willbecalled.CAREERDEVELOPMENTANDEMPLOYMENTASSISTANCE RyonCollegeoffersemploymentpreparationandjobplacementassistancetoallgraduatesingoodstanding.Theprocessmaybeon-goingthroughouttrainingandincludedineachsubjectormodules.RyonCollegemaintainsaPlacementServicesdepartmenttoassistgraduatesincontactingcompaniestosecureemployment.ThePlacementServicesCoordinatoractsasaliaisonbetweenthegraduate and the employment community. Information on job search techniques is provided to soon-to-graduate students andgraduatesbasedoncurrentneedsoflocalbusinessesandindustries.Instructionmay include areas such as: proper grooming for successful interviews, resume development, successful interviewingtechniquesandmockinterviews.Whileitisnottheintenttoprovideemploymentforthestudentduringtraining,RyonCollegedoesprovideparttimeemploymentopportunityboardwhichliststemporaryemploymentopportunitiesforthosestudentsinneedofajobwhileincollege.ThisinformationispostedoutsidetheStudentLoungeandisupdatedperiodically.

CAREERDEVELOPMENTANDEMPLOYMENTASSISTANCE,cont’d RyonCollegedoesnotguaranteeemploymentuponcompletionofstudies.RyonCollege’sPlacementServicesdepartmentprovidesdirectassistanceasstudentsneartheircompletiondateandbeyondgraduation.Delaysincoursecompletionmayresultindelayingemploymentassistanceactivity. AllstudentswillberequiredtomeetwiththePlacementServicesCoordinatortoinsurepersonalattentiontothestudent’sjobseekingneeds.EachstudentshallsubmitatypedresumetothePlacementServicesCoordinator.NOTE: All graduates will be considered in need of placement assistance unless a signedwaiver of placement assistance, with awritten explanation, is in the student file. Graduates waiving placement assistance may still receive placement assistance bynotifying Placement Services that they wish to be placed in an active, placement seeking status. A successful job search isdependentupona self-confident,wellpreparedapplicantwithapre-plannedstrategy. Theentire staffaswellas thePlacementServices Coordinator will assist in this effort. While employment is not guaranteed, assuming cooperation on the part of thegraduate,PlacementServiceswillmakeeveryefforttoassistagraduatewiththeirjobseekingtasks.ThePlacement ServicesCoordinatorhelps graduatesdevelopand/or locatepositionswhichbestmatch the student’s capabilitiesand experiences. The Placement Services Coordinator is always available to assist in future years for Ryon College alumnicontemplatingachangeinemployment.OnlygraduatesofRyonCollegeareeligibleforplacementservicesfromRyonCollege.ToeffectivelyutilizePlacementServices,thestudentmustagreetothefollowingpoliciesregardingplacementassistance:

Services Coordinator cannot be kept, prior to the appointment, a callmust bemade to thePlacement Services departmentand/oremployertoreschedule.

5. Notify the Placement Services department immediately of the results of each interview and when a job is offered and/oraccepted.

6. Graduates must keep the Placement Services department advised on any changes in name (in case of marriage), address,telephonenumber,temporaryabsencefromthearea,andofcourse,employmentstatus.

7. AdheretodressstandardswhenwiththePlacementServicesofficeand/orprospectiveemployer.8. Fullcompletionofexternship(requiredforgraduation).RyonCollege’sprimaryobjectiveistoprovideitsstudentswithadequatetrainingandassistancewithemploymentintheirchosenfieldandcooperationintheaforementionedprocessmayassureapositiveresult.RETENTIONOFSTUDENTRECORDS Allstudentrecordsareretainedbytheinstitutionforaminimumoffiveyearsandaremaintainedinfireretardantstoragefiles.Permanenttranscriptsofthestudent'sprogressrecordaremaintainedbytheschoolandareavailableuponwrittenrequestbythestudent.Thereisa$5.00chargeforeducationtranscripts.Afeeof$10.00willbechargedifthelastdayofattendancewasmorethanthreeyearsfromthedateoftherequest.Understateregulations,thecollegeisrequiredtomaintainastudent’seducationalrecord for a period of not less than 5 years from the students last date of attendance; all transcripts are permanently kept oncampus.

DISCLOSUREOFEDUCATIONRECORDS TheFamilyRightandPrivacyActof1974prohibitaninstitutionfromreleasingtheschoolrecordsoranyotherinformationaboutastudenttoanythirdpartywithoutthewrittenconsentofthestudent. RyonCollegeprotectstheprivacyandconfidentiallyofallstudent records. Students are guaranteed the right to access their own files, and inspect, review, and challenge informationcontainedintheireducationrecords.Studentsunderthecompulsoryagemaynotreviewthetaxinformationoftheparents.Parentsofstudentsorparentsoftaxdependentstudents,withthestudent’swrittenapproval,mayinspect,reviewandchallengeinformationcontainedinthestudents’records.

Educationrecordsaredefinedasfiles,materials,anddocumentswhichcontaininformationdirectlyrelatedtothestudentandaremaintainedby the Institution. Writtenconsent is requiredbeforeeducation recordsmaybedisclosed to thirdpartiesexcept forregulatory education agencies. Student’s wishing to review their file must make an appointment with the Student ServicesCoordinatororCollegeRegistrar.Allappointmentsmustbemadeduringregularbusinesshours.

Toassiststudentswiththeireducationalcosts, theschoolprovidesastudenttheopportunitytomakemonthlytuitionpaymentswhileattendingschool.Studentsmayalsoapplyforfinancialassistancethroughprivate lending institutions.Forastudenttoremaineligiblefor financialassistance,thestudentmustmaintainsatisfactoryacademicandattendanceprogress. Priortograduation,eachstudentmustcompletean“exit interview”,sothattheymayreviewanyremainingobligationsandcandiscussthemwithcollegeadministration.

Failuretomeettherequiredhoursoftrainingwillresultindenialofgraduationstatus.EXCUSEDABSENCESStudentsareexpectedtobeontimetoclasseverydayandcompletetherequiredworktothebestoftheirability.Whenstudentsmust be absent from class, the student should call Student Services prior to the start of class, noting the class they are in, anexplanationofwhy theywill notbe in class thatday, andwhencanweexpect their return.Absencewill be consideredexcusedunderthefollowingcircumstances:illness,death,orbirthintheimmediatefamily,andothervalidreasonssubstantiatedinwritingand at the discretion of the school director.All other absenceswill be considered unexcused. Theexcusedabsencepolicywasimplementedforstudentswhomayexperienceunexpectedor unforeseenproblems. This time is not required tobemade-up; however, youmust stillmaintain theminimumcumulativegradepointaverageforcompletionofyourstudies.UNSATISFACTORYATTENDANCEANDUNEXCUSEDABSENCESRe-occurringabsences could result indisciplinaryaction, just as itwouldona job. MAKE-UPWORKANDATTENDANCEMake-up work must be requested from and scheduled with your instructor to assure proper credit. Students must make upwork/attendanceforpropercredittowardsgraduation.Allworkandattendancemustbecompletedontheschoolpremises.Make-upassignmentsand/ortestswillbeadministeredbytheappropriateinstructororappointedstaffmemberforthosewhoneedtomakeupforacademicgrades/creditunits.

LEAVEOFABSENCEPOLICYAll“LeaveofAbsence”(LOA),requestsmustbesubmittedinwritingtotheStudentServicesDepartment.Therequestmustincludethe reason for the leave of absence (in general), the expected return date and the student's signature. Submission of an LOArequestdoesnotautomaticallyreflecttheschool'sapproval.AnLOAmaybelimitedtoaspecificamountofdays(NOTTOEXCEED60DAYS).OnlyoneLOAwillbegrantedforastudentduringany12-monthenrollmentperiod.Ifthestudent’sleaveofabsenceisnotapproved,thestudentshouldthendiscussremainingoptionswithcollegeadministration.IftheLOAisapproved,thestudentmayreturnpriortoorattheendoftheLOAandresumetrainingwithoutpayinganyadditionaltuition.StudentsrequestingLOAsmustunderstandthatuponreturn,arevisedcoursecompletiondatewillbeestablished,whichwilldelaytheirgraduationdate.Atnotimecantheschoolbackdatealeaveofabsence. Therefore, it is importantthatyoucarefullyplananyLOApriortotakingtime off from college. Time taken on a leave of absence does not count in the satisfactory academic and attendance formula;unexcusedabsencesdo.

GRADINGSYSTEMAll classes are graded based on the grading format noted below reflecting the performance evaluation by Ryon College. It isrecommendedthat ifastudentreceivesan“I” (Incomplete), theycompletethemake-upcourseworkprior tocompletionof theirprogram.StudentsshouldcheckwiththeirInstructortoarrangeany/orallmake-upcoursework.Incomplete(I)gradesareusedincalculatingthecumulativegradepointaverageandcarryavalueofzero(0).Iftheincompletegradeismadeup,thetwogradeswillbe averaged for a final grade. This gradewill be used in calculating the cumulative grade point average. Weekly grades reflectattendance,classparticipation,quizzesandtests.Studentsmustcomplete,ataminimum,70%oftheprogramandtheircumulativegradepointaveragemustbeataminimum70%or“D”.Theoverallgradingsystemisasfollows:A EXCELLENT 93-100B ABOVEAVERAGE 85-92C AVERAGE 77-84D BELOWAVERAGE 70-76F UNSATISFACTORY 69-BELOWI INCOMPLETEW WITHDRAWALIf a studentwithdraws froma coursebefore the completionof amodule, the studentwill receivea “W“for themodule. ATTENDANCEANDACADEMICPOLICIES,cont’dStudentswillbeallowedtorepeatamoduleonceatnoadditionalcharge.Thetimeneededtorepeatthemodulemustbewithinthemaximumtimeframeforthatcourse.ThestudentwillbegiventhisopportunityatthediscretionoftheCollege,andissubjectto the availability of space, to repeat, remediate ormake up lostwork. Thiswork shall be given full creditwith respect to thestudentmaintainingofsatisfactoryprogress.SATISFACTORYACADEMICPOLICYFORCONTINUEDENROLLMENTANDGRADUATIONIn addition to completion time frames, to bemaking satisfactory academic progress, each student must maintain a cumulativeminimumgradepointaverageof70%=Dorbetter.Fordeterminingsatisfactoryprogress,eachcourseisbrokendownintothree(3)evaluationperiods,25%,50%and75%ofthestudent’strainingperiod. Astudentachievingacumulativegradepointaveragebelow70%or a “D” at the timeof evaluationwill be advisedof their unsatisfactory academicprogress andplacedon academicprobation until their cumulative grade point average reaches aminimum 70% or “D” however,may not exceed two evaluationperiods(unlessextenuatingcircumstancesisestablished). Attheendofthisperiodofprobation,thestudentmustmaintain,ataminimum,anacademicgradepointaverageof70%or“D”orbetter.Ifthestudentisunabletobringhisorhergradeupto70%or“D”orbetterduringtheprobationperiod,theDismissalPolicywillbein effect. Once a student is terminated from their training program, all appropriate agencies will be notified accordingly. Anystudent dismissed for failure to meet the academic requirements of the institution, may appeal the dismissal by following thestudentappealsprocedureoutlinedinthiscatalog.GRADUATIONREQUIREMENTSStudentsmusthaveataminimum,anaccumulativegradepointaverageof70%or“D”grade,alongwithaminimumof70%ofthetotal scheduled program hours attended, to be considered for graduation. California statute requires that a student, whosuccessfullycompletesacourseofstudy,beawardedanappropriatediplomaverifyingthefact.RyonCollegeawardsits’graduatesadiplomaasanacknowledgmentoftheirsuccessfulaccomplishmentandgraduationfromtheirprogramofstudy.Diplomaswillbemadeavailabletograduatesnotlaterthan30daysfromlastdayofattendanceunlessStudentServicesreceivesawrittenrequestforanearlieravailability.Early graduation: This policy is at the sole discretion of the school. The school encourages all students to complete the entireprogram.Astudentmustrequestthisoptiontotheadministrator.Theschooladministratorwillevaluatethestudentacademicfileand make a preliminary determination. A final decision will be made by school administrator in conjunction with all relevantdepartments.UNSATISFACTORYPROGRESSANDDISMISSALPOLICYAnystudentfailingtomaintainaminimum70%,or“D”withinanytimeofanevaluationperiodoftheprogramhoursshallbe,ataminimum,placedon“AcademicProbation”(unlessextenuatingcircumstancesareestablished).Thelengthofprobationshallbefortheperiodof time required for the student to reachaminimumof gradeof70%,or “D”however, innoevent shall exceedoneevaluationperiod.Also,anystudentfailingtomaintainaminimumof70%attendanceatanytimeofanevaluationperiodshallbe,ataminimum,placedon“AttendanceProbation”(unlessextenuatingcircumstancesareestablished).Thelengthofprobationshallbefortheperiodoftimerequiredforthestudenttoreachaminimumof70%ofthescheduledclasshourshowever, innoeventshallexceedoneevaluationperiod.Theprobationperiodmaybe lengthenedtoprovideassurancethat thestudentachievesandmaintainssatisfactoryprogress.Thestudentwillbeallowedtomakeuphours,assignmentsandorexamsifspaceisavailable,andberemovedfromprobation.Nomorethantwoprobationarytermswillbeallowedperstudent.Ryon College reserves the right to suspend or dismiss any student whose attendance, professional conduct, or academicperformancedoesnotmeettheschool’sstandards,and/or,onewhofailstoabidebytherulesandregulations.Also,ifastudentdoesnot improve theattendanceaverage to the requiredminimumby theendof theirprobationaryperiod, the studentwillbeterminatedfromthetrainingprogram.Students,whohavebeendismissedforlackofsatisfactoryacademicprogressfromanyprogram,mayapplytotheSchoolDirector,inwriting,tobere-admittedtotheschoolbyfollowingthe“ReentranceandReenrollmentPolicy”outlinedinthiscatalog.Astudentmayappealthedeterminationofunsatisfactoryacademicprogressand/ortheirdismissalbaseduponextenuatingcircumstancesbyfollowingthe“StudentAppealsProcedure”outlinedinthiscatalog.

Ryon College complies with the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act Amendment of 1989, of section 1213, of the HigherEducationActof1965,whichstatesthefollowing;

1. Any unlawful possession, use or distribution of non-prescription or illicit drugs or alcohol on school property or inconnectionwithanyschoolactivityisstrictlyprohibited.Thisappliestoallstudentsandemployeesoftheinstitution.

LOCAL – Penalties vary based on the severity of the offence and the number of offenses committed. Sanctions forpossessionofan illegalsubstanceforthefirsttimerangefromafineofupto$70.00,anduptooneyear inStatePrison(HealthandSafetyCode11350).Forfurtheroffensesand/orlargerquantitiesofillegalsubstances,penaltiesmayincludeuptolifeimprisonment.

STATE–Penaltiesvarybasedonthenatureoftheillegalsubstance,theoffenseandwhetherthereisaprioroffense.Firsttimeoffendersmay receiveup to life imprisonmentwhile repeatoffenders could receive life imprisonmentwithout thepossibilityofparole.

Cancellation occurs when a written notice of cancellation isdelivered to the college campus. Studentsmay deliver a notice bymail, email, in person or by fax or telegram. The notice ofcancellation,ifmailed,iseffectivewhenpostmarked,properlyaddressedwithpostageprepaid.Thenoticedoesnothavetobeinanyparticularformat;itonlyneedsstatetheintentionordesiretocancel.Anyrefundsowedtoastudentduetocancellationwillbereimbursedwithin45daysafterthenoticeisreceived.REFUNDPOLICY-(STUDENT’SRIGHTTOCANCEL)RyonCollegeprovidesa100%Pro-ratarefundpolicyifastudentdecidestocanceltheenrollmentagreementorwithdrawsduringaperiodofattendanceandhascompleted60%orlessofthecourseterm.Thepro-ratarefundshallbenolessthanthetotalamountowedbythestudentfortheportionofthecourseprovided,subtractedfromtheamountpaidbythestudentorthepayingentity,calculatedasfollows:

1) theamountowedequalsthedailychargeforprograminstruction(totalinstitutionalcharge,dividedbythenumberofdaysorhoursintheprogram)multipliedbythenumberofdaysorhoursstudentattended,orwasscheduledtoattend,priortowithdrawal.

2) Except as provided for in subdivision 3, all amounts paid for by the student in excess ofwhat is owed as calculated insubdivision1shallberefunded

3) Exceptasprovidedherein,allamountsthatthestudentorthepayingentityhaspaidshallbesubjecttorefundexcludingthe$75registration fee, theStudentTuitionRecoveryFee,andanyunreturned/usedbooks, suppliesorequipment.Thisnon-refundable amount shall not totalmore than $250. Books, supplies, and equipment are considered non-refundableoncetheyhavebeenopenedorused.

If the student withdraws after attending more than 60% of their study program, Ryon College may retain 100% of the tuitioncharges.

Iftheschoolhascollectedmoneyfromastudentfortransmittalonthestudent’sbehalftoathirdpartyforabond,libraryusage,orfees for a license, application, or examination and the institution has not paid themoney to the third party at the time of thestudent’swithdrawal or cancellation, the institution shall refund themoney to the studentwithin 45 days after the date of thestudent’scompletionof,orwithdrawal from,theireducationalprograminwhichtheywereenrolled.Forpurposesofthissection“day”meanscalendarday.IFTHEAMOUNTTHATYOUHAVEPAIDISMORETHANTHEAMOUNTTHATYOUOWEDFORTHETIMEYOUATTENDED,THENAFULLREFUNDWILLBEMADEWITHIN45DAYSOFWITHDRAWALDATE.IFTHEAMOUNTTHATYOUOWEISMORETHANTHEAMOUNTYOUHAVEALREADYPAID,THENYOUWILLHAVETOMAKEARRANGEMENTSTOPAYIT.HYPOTHETICALREFUNDEXAMPLE:Assumeyou,uponenrollmentina400hourcourse,pay$2,000fortuition,$75.00forregistration,and$150(fairmarketvalue)forequipmentandwithdrawaftercompleting100hours(25%)withoutreturningtheequipmentyouobtained.$2075 ($2,000 Tuition + $75.00 Registration Fee) Amount Paid (minus) $75.00 Registration Fee Retained by the School. STUDENTTUITIONRECOVERYFUNDThe State of California established the Student Tuition Recovery Fund (STRF) to relieve ormitigate economic losses suffered bystudentsinaneducationalprogramataqualifyinginstitution,whoisorwasaCaliforniaresidentwhileenrolled,orwasenrolledinaresidency program, if the student enrolled in the institution, prepaid tuition, and suffered economic loss. ProgramDescription This 480 clock hour program requires the completion of 16 weeks (days), or 16 weeks (evenings) of study.
