Self struggle of limitation.

Pretty much curiosity killed the cat…

Things that happen…

Dr. Faustus is a well respected scholar who grows tired of the mundane tedious life he lives with the limitations of traditional knowledge such as logic, medicine, law, and religion. He has an idea to start practicing the dark arts and summons a demon named Mephastophilis in which he sells his soul to the devil. As Mephastophilis grants the wishes of Dr. Faustus things start to go wrong. Faustus’ wishes start to go against what he originally intended and starts to have doubts about whether or not he should repent. He is visited by an angel who tells him he has the opportunity to save his soul but Faustus sticks with his decision to remain in control of the demon.

More things that happen…

Not to spoil the story or the ending or anything but a bunch of things happen involving a pope, a demon, and a horse-courser and Faustus’s time is up 24 years later. He is told he’s going to hell but then he finally tries to redeem himself in the eyes of the Lord. (Uh-oh) Cliff Hanger.Demon

Famous People I’d pay to watch perform this.

I’d love to see Jack Nicholson Play the part of Mephostophilis. When I first read this play it seemed as though he’d be the fit for the type of character who tells you whatever it is to get what he wants. If it’s bad news he’d be able to make you happy about it with his kind of ambiguous smile.

More Famous people I’d pay to see perform this.

The actor I’d love to see perform the role of Faustus is Jude Law. Jude has a very logistical and yet creative way about going to characters that would add a quality to this character that no one has before.

You get the idea of Famous people…

For the role of the angel I would have the classic Anne Hathaway play the part for her sense of purism she brings to a lot of her roles. She’s also pretty…. I’d let her eat crackers in the bed….

Last but not least..

For the role of Robin I would have Jim Carrey. A very comedic actor who is well to do at making his physical comedy just as funny as his textual comedy. His experience with comedy will add a relief to the amount of drama in the play.

The place things happen at…

The set I want to have a certain feel to it during each scene that happensSo what I’ve imagined is using a rotating set. One scene set up prior to theOther but something I would want is during each time the scene changes the Next one is a little more dark. Showing that he’s getting closer and closer toHell and death. His office would become less organized and more distraughtThroughout the play until everything’s just a mess and dead.

This would allow to show how far thePlay has progressed while also showingThe how Dr. Faustus’s mind is witheringAway.
