The RX-3000 Seriesis the Roemex range of Demulsification chemicals.
Products in the RX-3000series have been successfully used throughout the North Sea sector and worldwide forover 10 years.
Products in the RX-3000 series work by firstly removing the emulsifying agent and secondly coalescing thewater droplets that then separate by gravity, achieving dry oil with low salt content as well as minimal oil in theseparated water.
Roemex has a team of experienced Demulsifier Chemists and custom designed specialist equipment forperforming Bottle Tests in the field globally. As well as testing offshore in the North Sea, Roemex has vastinternational experience of many different emulsions, processes and working conditions. This has led to thedeployment of RX-3000demulsifiers in many fields globally resulting in significant savings for operators.
The RX-3000 Seriesof Demulsifiers are generally injected into produced fluids at a point upstream of the 1 ststage separator. Alternatively, products within the RX-3000series can be injected subsea if required.
Field experience shows that typical dose rates are in the region of 5 - 50ppm, based on the total volume ofproduced fluids.
Formulating the correct demulsifier to maximise water removal should always be performed in the field usingfresh emulsion, as every emulsion is unique and related to the field as well as process conditions. Emulsions alsoage, becoming more difficult to break over time, meaning a delay during transportation of crude is not viable.
Normal practice is for a field trial to be carried out prior to bulk purchase. This can be performed by Roemexengineers using a temporary injection skid and injection lines. This allows the optimum dose rate to bedetermined prior to full field implementation.
The RX-3000 Seriesof Demulsifiers are designed to give rapid separation of oil and water along with a sharpinterface and good water quality and can be designed to desalt crude if required.
Field performance of the RX-3000 Series of demulsifiers has resulted in significant production savings foroperators as well as improved quality of separated water.
The following chart illustrates the improvements made in a particular field where a demulsifier from the RX-3000series has replaced a competitor product.

The demulsifier from the RX-3000 series was applied at a lower injection rate than the competitor product andreduced the water content of export oil by approximately 90% i.e. a significant overall improvement.
No special procedures need to be observed. Normal precautions should be taken and protective clothing,goggles and PVC/rubber gloves should be worn.
