The Ralph Verde Foundation (RVF) is a service-oriented not-for-profit

March of 2012, the Foundation was founded in the memory of Ralph Verde,

who passed away of a terminal brain tumor in 2011 while completing his senior

year at Yale University. Ralph’s belief was that education was the cherished

means to any goal. In alignment with this philosophy, the RVF mission is to

As part of the Foundation’s three‐prong mission – to develop, to reward and to inspire – the RVF Scholarship

Program was established to support accomplished high school students in their pursuit of higher education.

The cost of a college degree in the United States has increased 12‐fold (1,120%) over the past 30 years, far

outpacing the price of inflation of consumer goods, medical expenses and food. This trend has had negative

ramifications on students seeking to pursue higher education as the rise in tuition costs has made

educational costs less and less affordable and created financial barriers that prevent some students from

attaining their educational goals. RVF hopes to further the dreams and successes of others who are as

ambitious, well-rounded, and resilient as Ralph and demonstrate a strong commitment to making a

sustainable and lasting difference in the world. Since 2013, the RVF has granted six students $27,000 in

scholarship awards.

RVF’s 3rd annual scholarship award is set to open October 28th on the Foundation’s website. Spread the word to friends and family! Applications close February 1, 2015.

The Annual RVF-McNeill Volleyball Invitational

Passaic Valley High School hosted its third annual RVF

Invitational Tournament in April to kick off their men's

volleyball season. The school played host to nine other local

teams in an effort to prepare for the lengthy season. All

net proceeds from concessions and entry fees were

donated toward the 2015 RVF Scholarship Award and the

Colin McNeill Scholarship Fund. With the help from

community members, the event raised $2,500. Thank you

to PVHS for organizing and executing a successful

tournament and congratulations to the winning

tournament team, Wayne Valley High School!

The 2014 RVF Online Raffle

Because of the success of the Foundation’s first online tricky tray

fundraiser in 2012, RVF hosted a two-week online tricky tray fundraiser

that went live April 1st. With the generosity of its constituents and

sponsors, the Foundation was able to give away five gift cards, three prize

baskets, sport tickets, a bakers rack, a communications lesson from

Jezra Kaye , and more. Thank you to all who contributed to the event’s

success—we raised just over $1,500!
