are still in use today. Doyou drive a Volkswagen? In German, Volkswagenmeans Peoples Auto, which was a company thatMr. Hitler oversaw the cre-ation of in order to providelow cost motor vehicles tothe people of Germany.

    e Nazis experimentation in jet

propulsion and rocket science was carriedon after the war by the United States bythe National Aeronautics and Space Ad-ministration, better known to the world asNASA. His understanding of infrastructure

helped to create the Autobahn, which was the primary inu-ence for the American high-way system created by DwightD. Eisenhowers administra-tion and heartily embraced byPresident Reagan (a personalfavorite of mine).

    More importantly, the surviving

members of the Jewish faith were inspiredby these atrocities to move to Palestine andestablish the homeland of the Jewish Peo-ple, an event which I think would not havehappened without the help of ol Adolf.

So the next time you are driving in acar, watching the movie Armageddon orwalking past Hillel, be sure to give Hitler alittle thanks. I know I will.

Aaron Marcus is a senior majoring in Politi-cal Science and Economics and Sociology anda bunch of other stu. He is very excited tobe graduating this semester and plans to grow

up to be very rich, cause a bunch of problems, and then blame poor people for all of them, thereby getting a tax break.

will be the rst toadmit that I am aproud Jew who sup-ports the founding

of Israel, the safety andprotection of its people, and the rights of Jews ev-erywhere to a comfortablestate of living without fearof bigotry and persecution.

But as I sat through the umpteenthhistory lecture covering the Holocaust andthe millions of people who died while beingpersecuted for nothing more than their reli-gion, sexual orientation or political beliefs,I couldnt help but think thathistory has given the irdReich and its leaders a bad rap.

ink about this: we allknow that in 1492, Colum-bus sailed the ocean blue, but when he got to the NewWorld, which he found by acci-dent, he slaughtered countless natives, raped

their wives and enslaved their children.Yet every year, there is a day celebrating

him on which children get a day o fromschool, and the government pays workers totake the day o. If they had a Hitler Day inGermany where public workers got the dayowith pay, I would bet money that manyfolks would be very angry about that.

History is subjective, people. Whatmost people know about Adolf Hitler is thathe lead the Nazi party: a German politicalparty that rose to power, committed massgenocide, and attempted to create an op-pressive empire the likes of which modern

civilization had never seen before. But what most people dont know is

that Hitlers policies, creations, and ideas

Due to space limitations, submissions cannot be longer than like, 300 words? I dontreally know, I mostly just slap these articles into a pre-made template. If you actu-ally sat down and wrote an opinions article that didnt make me vomit, then I guessIll print it. Honestly, if youre interested in serious journalism then pick up the actualTargum, unless youve gotten this far into the paper and still think youre holding theTargum, in which case you should come to our meetings on Wednesdays at 8pm inthe Busch Campus Center in 120A.

    Laurels and Darts

    L

aurel Park, Marylands premier destination for horseracing and horse racing results, receives a laurel for be-ing the rst thing to appear when googling laurel.

eir website is full of lots of pictures of pretty horses and Ilove horses. You know, while Im on this roll Im gonna givehorses a laurel also. Horses are so majestic and beautiful. Ifyou want to go see the horses at Laurel Park they have anelegant Terrace Dining, comfortable bars, simulcast rooms, and plenty of seating in the general admission area. Or so Iveheard.

e Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) receives a dartfor having yellow buses as part of its transportation system.Only taxis are supposed to be yellow. If I was in Dallas and Isaw a big yellow thing heading towards me, I would imme-

diately assume taxi! and then be very disappointed to

nd asmelly bus rolling up. Also Im very confused about whetheror not they have more taxies than buses. Make your websiteless confusing, DART.

I would like to give a dartto the National Darts Federa-tion of Canada. e security they hire for their events has adistinct lack of Canadian mounties. If I have to sit througha youth darts championship, especially a Canadian one, thenI certainly want to see a little Canadian are. Youre gonnaprovide one mountie for me to admire? For shame, NationalDarts Federation of Canada. For shame.

Camp Laurel, a sleepaway camp in Maine, gets a big laurelfrom me. First of all, their symbol is a moose, and moose arealmost like bigger horses with giant antlers. If youve beenpaying attention, then I think you know my feelings abouthorses. You know, Im gonna give horses another laurel whilewere on this train. But more about the camp. Apparentlythey provide tasty, nutritious, homemade meals! Who doesntlike all of those adjectives when describing their food? Ac-cording to their menu, there is grilled cheese at every lunch. You could eat grilled cheese every day at this camp. Onceyoure stued, you can do some Tae-bo and ultimate frisbee, maybe even at the same time! is place sounds like heavento me.

For one?Alone? ey are also the owners of the Solo Cup Company.Yeah, those red cups youve been cleaning oyour oor sincethe rst day of school are from these guys. Darts to the Solocups too. Actually, a dart to Han Solo too. And a dart toC3PO.

You cant forget about the Laurel Chamber of Com-merce if youre giving out laurels left and right. Laurel is thehub of Montana and their Chamber of Congress is kickingass left and right. Plus their website has a train on it. I liketrains almost as much as moose and horses.
