Ana Tuktukan Number of Communities (Sitios, zones, streets, etc) : 8 Estimated Population of RUP Communities : 3, 092 NGO Partner : Simbayanan ni Maria Community Foundation, Inc. Taguig Story Taguig was among the cities that implemented the RUP approach, which was then called the Reaching Every Depressed Area (RED), in 2005. Using its experiences from the previous implementation, the Taguig CHO, in partnership with Simbayanan ni Maria Community Foundation, Inc. expanded to eight more barangays in 2011. One of the unique strategies developed in this round of implementation was the formation of a “creative health promotion group”. The said group is composed of teenagers who wrote and performed song-and-dance routines that incorporated messages on maternal and neonatal health. The group performed their routines to the members of the RUP communities. Taguig was also among the cities that were able to link its communities with government and private organizations to respond to the social determinants to health identified by the communities. Through the programme, Hortaleza Foundation, a private corporate foundation, provided training and start-up supplies to some 20 community members. Results of RUP implementation After a year of implementation, improvements were seen in terms of the performance of the eight (8) RUP barangays on core MNCHN indicators.
