quarter. This is considered a full time college student. If you are part-time, you will be eligible

Running Start Fee Waiver

The Running Start fee waiver covers class and student fees associated with college-level courses. Students must meet at least one of the criteria below and submit the required documentation.

• Eligible for free or reduced priced lunches in the past 5 years

• Family income is less than 200% of the federal poverty level

• Receiving any state or federal assistance

• Current foster youth or McKinney Vento status

Transferring College Credits

• Community college credit transferability varies by university. Always check with the university what their requirements are for transferring credits.

• The Associates in Arts and Sciences Direct Transfer Agreement (DTA) degree is accepted by public universities in the State of Washington.

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

• Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records

• Regardless of age, Running Start students fall under FERPA

• FERPA at college level puts the responsibility and communication on the student, not the parent, with the institution

Eligibility Requirements

High school junior or senior

• Homeschool or private school students will need to register with their local public school district

Placement

• English and Math placement; however, it does not have to be college level placement.

• Can use PSAT/SAT, ACT, SmarterBalanced (SBAC) test scores, and high school grades (Math only) for placement

Online Accuplacer Test ($33.70)

1. Submit the Running Start application to obtain EvCC student ID

number.

2. Contact the Testing Center at [email protected] or (425) 388-

9288 to set up a testing appointment.

3. Take the test.

4. Email the Running Start office at [email protected] so

that we can attach your scores to your application for placement.

scores OR need to take the Accuplacer placement exam.

• Complete the online orientation (registration block)

• Watch the mandatory orientation videos

• Connect with your high school counselor to complete the Running Start Enrollment Verification Form (RSEVF)

• Meet virtually or by phone with an EvCC entry advisor (registration block)

• Submit your RSEVF to Running Start (registration block)
