RULES OF
THE UNITED SERVICES CLUB, COLABA, MUMBAI (06 MAR 2018)
OBJECT
1. This club is primarily for officers of the Armed Forces and their families on the Active List
who are posted in Mumbai. The Object of the club is to provide welfare activities for members in
the form of sports and recreational facilities. Though the name suggests “Club” it is more of a
“Mess” or “Institution”, where the officers can avail of food, drinks and various recreational and
sports facilities. The Club also offers its members Yoga classes for health and wellness, Fitness
classes, Music classes, Zumba classes, Dance classes and Tambola on weekends. The Club with
its service oriented goal is aptly suited for addressing these recreational needs.
RULES
RULE – 1
CONSTITUTION
Membership Categories
2. Members of the United Services Club shall consist of Services Officers both Serving and
Retired. A limited number of Civilian Members may be admitted at the discretion of the Managing
Committee.
3. Membership shall comprise the following categories:-
(a) Service Officer Members.
(b) Civilian Members.
(c) Honorary Members.
(d) Temporary Members.
(e) Civilian Government Officers.
(f) Service Officers Children.
Foreign Nationals
4. Foreign nationals including those of Indian origin or those individuals whose spouses hold
foreign nationality are not permitted membership of the Club. Entry for foreign guests will be with
prior permission.

Patron
5. The Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command shall be the Patron of the
Club.
Vice Patron
5. The General Officer Commanding, MG and G Area, (a Lt Gen appointed as GOC) shall be
the Vice Patron of the Club.
Chairman
6. A Flag Officer nominated by the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief or the Chief of Staff,
Maharashtra, Gujarat & Goa Area or the Air Officer Commanding, Maritime Air Operations shall be
the Chairman of the Club, by rotation, for a period of two years. In the event of incumbent
Chairman proceeding on transfer / retirement in less than 18 months, residual period will be
completed by new nominee of same service.
Rule on Rules
7. No Rule in this Constitution may be altered, cancelled or adopted except at the Annual
General Body Meeting (AGM) or Extra-ordinary General Body Meeting (EGM) called as provided
by these Rules and provided the Resolution moved for the said purpose is adopted by the vote of a
minimum of 2/3 of the members present and entitled to vote.
RULE 2
MEMBERSHIP – SERVICE OFFICERS
8. There shall be two types of Membership under this Rule :-
(a) Full Members (AF) . All Commissioned Officers of the Armed Forces on the
Active List, including MNS and Coast Guard. Officers shall be eligible to be full members.
The Managing Committee has restricted such Membership to only those officers actually
posted in Mumbai.

(b) Armed Forces Associate Members.
(i) Armed Forces Associate (Pensioner) (AFP) Members. All full members
who retire after 20 years commissioned service and officers of the Armed Forces who
have retired and are in receipt of or who have received or have commuted
Government pension payment shall on application be eligible to be Armed Forces
Pensioners (AFP) Members. Service Officers who have been full members of the
club for more than three years on their retirement can automatically become AFP
members by applying to the Secretary without further formalities. Also service officers
who take up membership on the day they arrive on their last leg of posting to Mumbai
can on their retirement automatically convert to AFP members by applying to the
Secretary. This is irrespective of the time spent as a member.
(ii) Armed Forces Associate (Non-Pensioner) (AF/NP) Members.
(aa) Premature Release Cases. Commissioned Officers other than those
at Rule 2 Para 8 (b) (i) above who were prematurely released from the
Defence Services or had resigned and already admitted as Armed Forces
Associate member, will be retained as Armed Forces Associate Non-
Pensioner (AF/NP) member. No more new members shall be admitted under
this category.
(ab) Short Service / Emergency Commission(SSC). Commissioned
Officers other than at Para 8 (b)(i) above who had completed 05 years of
commissioned service in the Defence Services and could not be given
extension due to non- availability of vacancy for further promotion may apply
for Temporary Membership in this category. This Temporary Membership will
be granted to 100 released SSC Officers permanently residing / employed in
Mumbai on yearly renewable basis. The selection criteria would be decided by
the Managing Committee. They shall have no voting rights or the right to put
up a resolution in the AGM. This membership can be terminated without
assigning any reasons.
(ac) Compassionate Grounds / Not Completed Pensionable Service
(ONP). Other Officers who had resigned on compassionate grounds / not
completed pensionable (20 years commissioned service Rule 2 (b) (i)
refers) service in Defence Services will also be admitted in Defence
Associate Non-pensioners (ONP) category on the same terms and conditions
as applicable to released Short Service Commissioned Officers as referred to
in Para 8(b)(ii)(ab) and restricted to the same number, i.e. 100.

(iii) Invalidated out of Service Cases. Any officer of the Defence Services
invalidated out of the service and whose disability is attributed to the service
(irrespective of age) can become a Armed Forces Associate Non-Pensioner (AF/NP)
Member. This is without pre judice for Rule 2 (b) (ii) (aa).
(iv) Honorary Commission Cases. Civilians granted Honorary Commission in
the Defence Forces when residing in Mumbai may become Armed Forces Associate
Non-Pensioner (AF/NP).
(v) Voting Rights (AFP & AF/NP) Members. Armed Forces Associate
Pensioner & Non - Pensioner Members shall have neither voting rights nor the right
to put up any Resolution at Annual General Meetings.
(vi) Method of Application. Eligible persons will apply to the Secretary on the
prescribed form. Their applications will be approved by the Managing Committee.
The Managing Committee has restricted such membership to only those individuals
actually employed / settled in Mumbai.
RULE - 3
EXISTING MEMBERSHIP CIVILIANS
Eligibility
9. Any gentleman over 25 years of age or unmarried lady or a widow or divorcee who is well
received in society is eligible for civilian membership.
10. A lady who is a member will be required to apply for membership in her changed name in
the event of her getting married / remarried. She shall not pay any additional Entrance Fee.
Voting Rights (Civilians)
11. Civilian members shall have no voting rights nor will they have the right to put up any
Resolution at Annual General Meetings.

Method of Application
12. Persons eligible for Civilian Membership shall apply on the prescribed form. Their
applications shall be proposed and seconded by two members of the Club of which at least one
must be a Service Member. Members of the Managing Committee are not permitted to propose or
second applicants for new membership. Applicants will await their turn as per their seniority on the
Waiting List for consideration by the Managing Committee.
Current Embargo on Civilian Membership
13. The Ministry of Defence has stipulated certain guidelines regarding usage of defence land.
Civilian membership therefore has been stopped till further intimation.
RULE - 4
TEMPORARY MEMBERSHIP
Service Officers
14. All Commissioned Officers of the Services on the Active List, when visiting Mumbai either on
leave or on duty, may become Temporary Members by applying to the Secretary.
House Guests
15. House guests of members who are visiting Mumbai can be made Temporary Members for a
period of three months on application to the Secretary after being duly proposed by the member
concerned. The period may be extended three months at a time at the discretion of the Managing
Committee. This privilege is limited to service members in respects of houseguests who are
parents / blood relation / spouses of blood relations. For other members maximum duration of
house guests will continue to be upto a maximum of three months.
Voting Rights
16. Temporary members shall have neither voting rights nor the right to put up Resolutions at
Annual General Meetings.

Retired Officers
17. Retired Officers of the Services including Coast Guard and widows of Retired Officers with
20 years service in receipt of pension, temporarily residing and serving in Mumbai may become
temporary members for three years at a time by applying to the Secretary. This temporary
membership can be renewed provided they continue to temporarily reside and serve in Mumbai.
Hosting of Parties by Outstation Non Member Service Officers
18. Outstation non member service officers desirous of conducting a party in the club for
themselves or their dependents only may be given temporary membership for the same at rate
decided by the Managing Committee.
Temporary Annual Membership Service Officers Children (SOC)
19. Applications for Temporary membership will be accepted from sons / daughters of Serving /
Armed Forces Associate Members. Only those members who have completed 20 years and above
in the Armed Forces will be allowed to recommend their child for this temporary membership
subject to approval by the Managing Committee. Admission to the second child will be to those
members who have served till the last day of superannuation as per the laid down age limit of the
respective rank held at the time of retirement. Membership will be limited to children studying /
employed and residing in Mumbai.
20. Applicants may be granted temporary (SOC) membership on payment of entrance fee,
refundable deposit and subscription as fixed by the Managing Committee. This membership is to
be renewed on yearly basis 01 January to 31 December. For fair appropriation of this membership
the maximum number of 500 will be distributed over the years with annual intake cap of maximum
25. The applications for new memberships will be considered in end January every year after
taking into account the resignation / dropouts of previous year. Temporary SOC members shall
have no voting rights or the right to put up any resolution at the AGM. This membership can be
terminated without assigning any reasons.
RULE – 5
LIFE MEMBERSHIP
21. All Patrons, Vice Patrons and Chairmen of the club shall be offered life membership on
relinquishing their appointments.

RULE - 6
CLASS - I CENTRAL GOVERNMENT CIVILIAN GAZETTED
OFFICER MEMBERSHIP
22. A Class I Central Government Civilian Gazetted Officer posted to Mumbai on tenure basis,
on completion of 15 years service as a Class I Gazetted Officer can apply to become a member
and if enrolled, his / her membership will be valid for a period not exceeding 3 years or on transfer
from Mumbai, or retirement, resignation or death whichever is earlier. This period could be
extended at the discretion of the Managing Committee. The member will be required to pay an
Annual Fee plus a monthly subscription as prescribed under these Rules. He / She shall have the
same privileges as a Civilian Member. Membership that is granted is to be forwarded to the Patron
for information.
RULE - 7
HONORARY MEMBERSHIP
23. The Managing Committee may invite any person, who, in the opinion of the Managing
Committee has rendered distinguished or valuable service to society or to the Club, to become an
Honorary Member for Life or for a specified period, as deemed fit. All issues concerning grant of
Honorary Membership on deliberation and recommendations of the Managing Committee are to be
forwarded for approval of the Patron.
RULE - 8
ABSENTEE MEMBERSHIP
24. Any Permanent Service or Civilian member of the Club who is temporarily absent from
municipal limits of Greater Mumbai, Thane and Karanja District for a period of more than six
months shall pay the Absentee Fee as prescribed under the Rules, provided that if the member’s
spouse or children continue to use the Club during his / her absence, full subscription will be
charged and provided further, that if an Absentee Member uses the Club at any time during his/
her Absentee membership, he / she shall pay a subscription of Rs. 65/- per day for every day
he/she uses the Club and provided further, that if the Absentee member used the club for more
than four days in any month he/she would be liable to pay the full subscription for that month as
provided by these Rules. This Rule will only apply if the member gives previous notice to the
Secretary in writing of the period of absence from Mumbai.

RULE - 9
DEPENDANTS OF MEMBERS
Spouse
25. The Spouse of any member shall enjoy the same facilities as the member under conditions
of the membership.
Dependent Son / Daughter
26. Dependent sons up to age 25 years and unmarried daughters of all categories of
membership continue to be dependants till they get married.
RULE – 10
ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP
Permanent Membership (Golf & Swimming Permanent)
27. Those members who were accorded Permanent membership under the scheme termed
GSP (Golf & Swimming Permanent) membership will be permitted to continue their membership
and shall pay subscriptions as prescribed under these Rules.
Annual Membership (Golf & Swimming Annual)
28. Any Gentleman who is over 25 years of age or lady who is unmarried / widow / divorcee and
is well received in society may be given membership subject to approval by the Managing
Committee.
29. Such Membership shall be valid for duration of one year (01 January to 31 December) and
may be renewed at the discretion of the Managing Committee on fresh application.
30. All GSA Members will be required to pay a deposit as prescribed under these Rules. This
deposit shall be interest free and will be refunded to the member on termination of membership.

31. Lady Members will be charged a reduced annual membership fee subject to the provision
that their dependants will not be permitted to use Annexe facilities except as guest. Lady members
shall also pay a deposit as prescribed in these Rules.
Annual Membership Hoarding (Golf & Swimming Hoarding)
32. This membership (GSH) is offered to individuals belonging to corporate organizations. The
same will be valid for 12 months after the acceptance of the membership.
Civilian Membership under Individual-Golf / Non-Golf, Lady-Golf / Non-Golf and Corporate
Category
33. This shall be from 01 January to 31 December and shall be renewable on yearly basis at
the sole discretion of the Managing Committee or a Sub-Committee appointed on behalf of
Managing Committee.
RULE - 11
FEES AND SUBSCRIPTION
34. Fees and subscriptions go up by 8% in January every year. These shall be governed by the
AGM decisions, if any, for any change, whatsoever. The fees and subscription as on 01 Jan 2018
are as given below:-

Note
Subscription for members 75 years or above in age will be frozen at the level fixed for the
year 2002 or of the year when he/she attains the age of 75 years whichever is later.
35. A refundable Security Deposit is charged to each member which is returned at the time of
close of account. All refundable Security Deposits are to be kept as Deposits with Banks, for
security and safe keeping. The major amount may be Deposited in Naval Dockyard Co-op Bank
Ltd and preferably natiionalised Banks. The interest accrued from these deposits is to be ploughed
back into the working funds of the Club to be used for the welfare of the Club.
RULE – 12
TERMINATION / SUSPENSION OF MEMBERSHIP
Termination
36. Membership may be terminated by a member by giving a written notice with all membership
cards enclosed to the Secretary that he / she desires to terminate membership. Till then
membership remains active. On such termination, the member shall be required to settle all
payments due to the club.

Bills
37. Owing to non-payment of bills or dues including deposit as provided under these Rules.
Method
38. By expulsion from the Club if in the opinion of a minimum of 2/3 members of the Managing
Committee, the member is guilty of deliberate infringement of Club Rules, ungentlemanly conduct
in the Club or elsewhere, or is guilty of conduct likely to endanger the harmony and smooth
running of the Club, or is guilty of an offence involving moral turpitude or is indulging in undesirable
activities in the Club or elsewhere, or is dismissed from Public Service or for such other reasons as
thought fit by the Managing Committee after being given a due hearing.
39. If a member is adjudged as insolvent.
Death
40. Membership shall terminate on the death of a member. However, membership of Armed
Forces and Permanent Civilians (those who were members on or before 31 Dec 1995) categories
of membership only will be transferred to his / her widow / widower provided a written application is
made to the Chairman. In the case of Permanent Civilians the application is to reach the Chairman
within 120 days of the death of the member.
Security / Undesirability reasons
41. The Chairman of the Club shall be vested with the right to terminate the membership of any
member of the Club for reasons of Security without requiring the said member to be given a show
cause notice. The Chairman shall also be vested with the right to terminate the membership of any
member of the Club for reason of undesirability of the said member after the member has been
served with a show cause notice and given a hearing by the Chairman or the Managing
Committee.
Suspension
42. Suspensions up to one year can be awarded after due hearing by the Chairman/ Managing
Committee.

Conviction under CrPC
43. If any member is finally convicted under CrPC by a Court of Law, the membership may be
terminated at the discretion of the Managing Committee.
Debarring of Members
44. A member whose membership has been terminated by the club on disciplinary grounds is
debarred from coming to the club or using it in any capacity including as guest of any member. The
same also applies to members during the period of their suspension.
Responsibility of members
45. Members are not permitted to bring individuals whose membership has been terminated on
disciplinary grounds to the club as their guests. Members are also to ensure that they do not assist
such individuals in gaining entry to the club. Disciplinary action in accordance with Rule 12 will be
initiated against defaulting members.
RULE – 13
USAGE OF CLUB AND PAYMENT OF BILLS
46. Scaning Membership Cards to Enter Club. Any member desirous of using the club is
required to scan his / her membership card at the reception and obtain a printout which will
indicate whether club use is granted or denied as provided in these rules. Services and facilities of
the club can only be availed if the member is in possession of the printout granting access. In the
event of a system failure all members are to register their arrival and that of their guests in a
register at the reception before entering the club.
47. Timely Payment of Dues. Monthly bills of members are uploaded on the club website
usclub.co.in latest by the 10th of every month. It is the sole responsibility of the members to view
their bills periodically and clear them in full. No reminders will be sent by the club. The club has
stopped issuing a welcome chit to members who have their account balance in debt wef 01 Apr
16. In the event of non clearance of outstanding dues for six months / outstanding dues close to
the security deposit held with club, the club reserves the right of terminating the membership of
defaulting members at any time at the sole discretion of the Managing Committee without further
notice.

48. Associated Issues.
(a) In the event of termination of membership due to non payment of bills outlined in
para above, the security deposit of the member shall be adjusted against unpaid bills.
(b) Penalty for reinstatement for Service Officers Rs.5,000/-. Civilians- Rs.25,000/.-
(c) The onus of clearing bills when presented rests with the member and non receipt of bill
will not be accepted as excuse for non clearance of bill.
(d) In the case of a Temporary Member under Rule 4, the Member proposing the
Temporary Member shall be liable to pay all outstanding dues incurred by the Temporary
Member.
(e) Chits signed by members or their dependents or entries made by them in any of the
Club Registers will be proof of their indebtedness.
(f) All payments by cheque or debit/ credit cards or DD must be made to the Cashier at
the Main Office. Payment by Debit/ Credit Cards can also be done at the reception counters
of the club. Payments can also be made by NEFT, the details of which are hosted on the
clubs website.
(g) Bills in full are payable by the 20th of every month, Unpaid bills – however small – will
incur 2% interest for 30 days after due date of payment.
(h) A member making a payment shall ensure that a receipt is given to him/ her. In the
case of any dispute the Club shall not be responsible if the receipt for any payment is not
produced by the member.
(j) All members shall pay a Security Deposit as approved by the General Body
from time to time. This deposit will be interest free and will be refunded to the members or
adjusted against his / her bill when he / she terminate membership.
(k) Yearly renewal of membership fees is to be made only by cheque or a demand draft
under cover of a letter and given into the Main Office only.
RULE – 14
MANAGING COMMITTEE
49. The affairs of the Club will be managed by a Managing Committee consisting of nine
members including the Chairman. Other than the Chairman, members can be rotated by respective
Service.

50. The constitution of the Managing Committee representing the Army, Navy and Air Force will
be based on proportionate representation which at present is as follows:-
(a) Army. The Chief of Staff, Maharashtra, Gujarat & Goa Area and two other Senior
Army Officers nominated by him. When not appointed the Chairman, COS MG and G Area
may nominate an officer to represent him.
(b) Navy. Five Senior Naval Officers nominated by the Flag Officer Commanding-in-
Chief, Western Naval Command.
(c) Air Force. The Air Officer Commanding, Maritime Air Operations. When not
appointed the Chairman, AOC MAO may nominate an officer to represent him.
Captains/Secretaries/ Members
51. The Managing Committee may appoint from members of the Club, Captains/Secretaries/
Members as members in charge of various games and activities for a tenure of one year at a time.
Golf Captain
52. When the Chairman is from the Army, the Golf Captain will be from any of the other two
services and the Golf Secretary will be from the Army.
53. When the Chairman is from the Navy or Air Force, the Golf Captain will be from the Army.
Sub-Committees
54. The Managing Committee may co-opt other full members to fill vacancies on the Committee
or for a specific purpose, who shall hold office until the next Annual General Meeting.
55. The Managing Committee may at its discretion, appoint Sub-Committees from amongst its
members or from members of the Club for specific purposes.

RULE – 15
DUTIES OF THE MANAGING COMMITTEE
56. The Managing Committee shall meet at least once in six weeks to perform the following
duties:-
(a) To select candidates for membership of the Club.
(b) To appoint Sub-Committees if required.
(c) To make Bye Laws, not inconsistent with these rules.
(d) To Control the finances of the Club by: -
(i) Allocation of funds for various activities of the Club.
(ii) Review the income, expenditure and proper utilization of funds.
(e) To consider and approve the audited accounts of the previous year prior to placing the same before the Annual General Meeting.
(f) In general attend to all matters pertaining to the management of the Club.
RULE – 16
FINANCIAL CONTROL
57. Finance Sub Committee. Under the overall control and supervision of the Managing
Committee, a Finance Sub-Committee, constituting two members will be formed. The Finance
Sub-Committee will exercise general supervision over transactions having financial bearing. The
Finance Sub Committee headed by Convenor (Finance & Legal) will also advise and aid the
Managing Committee in the overall financial management of the Club.
Financial Powers
58. All spendings over Rs One Lakh have to be routed through Con (Fin & Leg) and details of
expenditure of any nature exceeding Rs 2 lakhs are to be forwarded for information of the Patron
on a quarterly basis. The under mentioned Club authorities will exercise financial powers as noted
against each:-
(a) Joint and Golf Secretaries. Joint and Golf Secretaries are authorized to sanction
Rs.5000/- per transaction limited to five such transactions every month.
(b) Secretary. The Secretary is authorized to incur expenditure on routine transactions
upto a maximum of Rs. 20,000/- in respect of each transaction.

(c) Finance Sub Committee. This Committee can authorize expenditure upto Rs.2
lacs on any single item / transaction.
(d) Chairman. The Chairman can authorize expenditure upto Rs.3.0 lacs / item /
transaction.
(e) Managing Committee. Expenditure upto Rs.5 lacs can be sanctioned by the
Managing Committee on any single item. The Finance Sub Committee will vet all proposals
which are put up before the Managing Committee/Chairman for sanction.
(f) Vice Patron. Expenditure in excess of Rs. 5 lacs and upto Rs. 10 lacs will require
the approval of the Vice Patron.
(g) Patron. Expenditure in excess of Rs. 10 lacs and upto Rs. 15 lacs will require the
approval of the Patron.
(h) General Body. Expenditure in excess of Rs.15 lacs will require the approval of the
General Body of the Club.
Annual Budget
59. Golf Captain and Secretaries of various games will draw up an annual expenditure budget
in respect to the games they are looking after for approval by the Managing Committee. The
budget will be for the financial year. All expenditure for concerned games will be restricted to
approved budget. Any deviation will have to be approved by the Managing Committee. The actual
disbursement of monies will be effected by the Secretary of the Club.
RULE -17
SECRETARY OF THE CLUB
Appointment
60. There shall be a Secretary of the Club appointed by the Managing Committee for such
periods and on such terms and conditions as the Managing Committee may decide. If he is not a
member of the Club he may be enrolled as an Honorary Member for the term during which he
holds his appointment. The Managing Committee may, at its discretion, revoke such appointment
by giving one month notice.

Superannuation
61. Age of superannuation of the Secretary will normally be 60 years. However, the Managing
Committee can extend the services of the Secretary beyond the age of superannuation but not
more than one year at a time up to a maximum of 65 years.
Joint Secretary
62. The Managing Committee may, at its discretion, appoint a Joint Secretary for such periods
and on such terms as it thinks fit to assist the Secretary in the performance of his duties or to
perform the duties of the Secretary in his absence.
RULE – 18
ANNUAL / EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETINGS
Period / Notice
63. An Annual General Meeting of the Members of the Club will be held on such day as may be
decided by the Managing Committee within ten months after the end of the financial year which
shall be 31st March. A minimum notice period of 20 days shall be given for an Annual General
Meeting.
Transactions
64. The following business will be transacted at the Annual General Meeting:-
(a) To confirm the minutes of the last Annual General Meeting and of any Extraordinary
General Meeting which may have been held in the course of the year.
(b) To pass the audited accounts of the previous year.
(c) To place before the Meeting any Resolution proposed and seconded by a Full
Member or by the Managing Committee provided that notice for such a Resolution has been
furnished to the Secretary not less than 7 days prior to the date of the meeting. A copy of
such proposed Resolution will be placed on the Club Notice Board.
(d) Conduct any other business with the permission of the Chair.

Voting
65. All Resolutions at the Annual General Meeting shall be passed by a majority of the
members present and entitled to vote except Resolutions pertaining to a change of Rules which
will require a minimum of 2/3 majority.
EGM
66. An Extraordinary General Meeting may be called by the Managing Committee for any
reason deemed necessary by it and may also be called on a written requisition addressed to the
Secretary and signed by at least 25 full members of the Club entitled to vote. A minimum notice
period of 10 days shall be given for an Extraordinary General Meeting.
RULE - 19
QUORUM AT MEETINGS
67. Quorum at meetings will be as follows:-
68. If at any Annual General Meeting or Extraordinary General Meeting a quorum is not present
the meeting will stand adjourned for one week and at such adjourned meetings, those Full
Members as are present shall constitute a quorum and may pass the necessary Resolutions by a
simple majority.
(i) Managing Committee Meeting Not less than five members including
Chairman
(ii) Annual General Meeting Not less than 30 full members
(iii) Extraordinary General Meeting Not less than 50 full members

RULE – 20
MEMBERS LIABILITY
69. Every member shall be bound by the Rules and Bye Laws of the Club and shall be
responsible for any breach thereof committed by his / her dependants or guests.
RULE – 21
TIPS, EX GRATIA PAYMENT, ROUNDING OFF
70. No member or visitor shall give any tip, fee or gratuity to any Club servant. Violation of this
Rule will render a member liable to have his / her membership terminated.
71. All members shall pay one month’s subscription per annum towards the fund maintained by
the Club for Annual Ex Gratia payment to the staff. The above mentioned sum will be recovered in
two installments half in the bill for the month of December and the other half in the bill for the
month of July.
72. All bills of members will be rounded off to the next higher rupee and the amount recovered
by reason of rounding off of bills will be credited to the Ex Gratia payment Fund.
RULE – 22
PROPERTY OF MEMBERS OR VISITORS
73. The Club shall not be responsible for any property left or lost by members or visitors in any
of the Club premises or grounds.
74. Any property of members or visitors, found in the Club premises or grounds will be notified
on the Notice Board and if unclaimed within 60 days may be sold at the discretion of the Managing
Committee and the proceeds credited to Club funds.
75. The Club will also not be responsible for any death of member either by drowning in the sea
whether by accident or in an attempt to swim in the sea or by any other reason.

RULE – 23
CLUB WORKING HOURS
76. The Club premises including the Annexe will be open during such hours as the Managing
Committee may determine from time to time.
77. Members remaining in the Club premises after the notified closing hours will be liable to pay
a surcharge at such rates as may be determined by the Managing Committee.
RULE – 24
GUESTS
78. The Managing Committee may make Bye Laws for the restriction of guests and visitors,
from time to time as they may think fit.
79. Foreign nationals are not permitted to be brought to the Club as guests without approval of
the Managing Committee and other higher clearances.
80. Under no circumstances shall any guests / visitors be permitted to order or pay for any
supplies.
RULE – 25
PRIVATE ENTERTAINMENT
81. One or more members may reserve such part of the Club premises as may be approved by
the Managing Committee for the purpose of private entertainment. The conditions and charges for
such reservations will be fixed from time to time by the Managing Committee.
RULE – 26
CLUB STAFF
82. All permanent staff of the Club will be appointed with approval of the Managing Committee.

83. Age of superannuation will be 60 years. Employment may be extended beyond 60 years by
the Managing Committee but not more than one year at a time.
84. Detailed orders regarding employment will be issued by the Club’s Secretary.
RULE – 27
PROVIDENT FUND AND GRATUITY
85. A Provident Fund shall be maintained and provision made for payment of gratuity for
the benefit of all permanent employees of the Club as required by Law. This provision made
towards Gratuity payable to permanent employees of the club is to be kept as Deposits with Banks
for security and safe keeping of the finances.
