Rules& Regulations

1. There is no restriction on the number of events for individual/ teams to participate in.

2. All students must carry their Institute/College identity cards with them.

3. Participants can be disqualified from any event on grounds of malpractice & indiscipline.

4. In case of any dispute, the decision of the judges shall be final & binding upon the participants.

6. Participants are required to reach the venue 1hour before the scheduled time of the event.

Debate - Vaad Prativaad• Topics will be intimated to the participants 5 days prior to the

event date.

• Speeches should be FIVE minutes in duration. Speakers exceeding this may be penalized but should never be substantially less than this.

• The language to be used for debate is English.

• A bell will be rung after the expiration of one minute and four minutes. The bell will be rung again at five minutes and at regular intervals after that.

• Speakers must observe parliamentary language i.e. bad language is not permitted.

Creative Poster Making - ‘Boost the Brush’

Objective: This competition aims to display the selling skills of participants. The participants will be provided with a product which they have to sell to the judges.

1. Mode of Participation: Individual/Team (maximum 3 participants)

2. Time Limit: 20 Minutes ( 10 minutes for thinking + 10 minutes for presentation)

3. Medium of speech will be English

4. The product to be sold will be provided on the spot to the participants

5. Marks will be deducted for exceeding the time limit.

Judgment will be based on innovative idea, presentation, clarity of idea / message communicated.

Business Tweet Competition

Photography

Objective : These days, lots of companies have a presence on Twitter. Most of these companies use it to share what’s going on in the company, which new products they are launching, and have a conversation with their followers. Others try to provoke interaction by sharing interesting stories and insights. This contest aims to produce the best business tweet that owes the power to attract a number of followers.

1. Mode of Participation: Individual

2. Time Limit: 10 Minutes

3. To enter, you must be a registered user on Twitter. If you do not have a Twitter account, follow the onscreen instructions to register for a Twitter account at http://twitter.com . Twitter accounts are free.

4. Post a Tweet from your Twitter account.

5. Medium of speech will be English.

6. Expletive / Obscene language is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification.

7. Be original.

8. Marks will be deducted for exceeding the time limit.

9. EMPI’s hash tag will be provided on spot.

The most creative participant wins.

• Maximum 4 entries allowed from each Institutes/ College

• All the entries will be displayed in a gallery

• Photo competition on any topic

• Photographs should be 8” X 10” size on either glossy or matte finish

• Entries without captions will not be accepted

• In this section the participants will give three photos depicting their message

• Decisions will be taken on technical grounds by the judge and will be final

Business Plan Competition• Each team should send their business plan by ____ (15 Days prior to the event date)

• Shortlisted teams will be invited (at least 10 days prior to the event date) to present their plan on the event date at EMPI.

• This competition requires a full written business plan that should include the following topics.

A. Executive Summary1. Executive Summary should be 1-2 page overview of the Plan

2. Should describe mission and goals of company

B. Business Plan Financial Data1. Financial data should include a projected cash flow statement, income statement, and balance sheet

for at least 12 months (1 year).

2. Include an explanation of the offering to investors indicating how much money is required and how it will be used.

3. Detailed financial data and tables should be included in the appendix.

• All work must be the original work of the applicants--proposals and plans that constitute dishonesty or fabrication of the facts will be disqualified even if discovered after the competition ends.

• Applicants can only submit 1 business plan.

• Teams must be between 1-5 students.

• All business plans must be based on a legal business enterprise of International Level

• The Business Plan teams will be judged on the following on a 100 point scale:

1. The poem written must be original works, in English. Plagiarism, which includes the use of third-party poetry, song lyrics, characters or another person's ideas, without written permission or proper acknowledgment, will result in disqualification.

2. Each participant can submit only one poem per contest.

3. Each participant must have a cover page with the title of the work, the poet's name for the poem.

4. Excessive violence, sex or religious extremism, determined by the judges, will result in disqualification.

5. The decisions of the judges are entirely their own, and are final.

• Max. 2 participants from each Institute / College

• Time limit: 3 min.

• Only Hindi songs allowed

• 1 team allowed from each Institute/ College

• Each team will comprise of 3 members

• Each team has to participate in elimination round

• Rules and regulations for different rounds will be disclosed to the qualifying teams at the time of event

• It is an individual competition.

• Limited entries based on first come first serve basis.

• Time limit is 4-5 Minutes.

• Participants will be judged on the basis of content, fluency, spontaneity, presentation & sense of humor.

• Negative marking for exceeding

Preliminary Process:

• Teams registered for the competition will be sent the data for the competition 15 days prior to the event.

Submission Rules:

• The analysis of the data must be no more than 3 pages, single spaced, size 12, Times New Roman font, with 1” margin. Each team will submit the document as a pdf file to ensure accessibility.

Finals Process:

• Each team will create a presentation strategically outlining key points to their data and its analysis in the form of a PowerPoint presentation to the panel of judges at EMPI.

Presentation Guidelines:

• The use of animations, clip art, videos, sound, and images in all presentations is prohibited. Only text, graphs, and financial tables will be allowed. Violation of this rule may result in a disqualification.

• Teams will be expected to adhere to a strict, 15 minute time limit. No additional time will be allowed.

• The rules of academic integrity apply, meaning that plagiarism, consulting faculty assistance, and theft of other team’s ideas will not be tolerated.

• The rubric will emphasize solid content, outstanding analysis, and high quality presentations. The judges’ decisions on all presentations and submissions are final.

• We encourage all the teams to invite and bring along their friends and faculty advisors to join us for the presentation.

Preliminary Process:

• Each team will be required to submit the case along with the solution to the case on a predetermined topic

• The topic will be intimated to the team by _____ (15 days prior to the event data)

Submission Rules:

• The case and the response to this case must be no more than 6 pages, single spaced, size 12, Times New Roman font, with 1” margin. Please submit the document as a pdf file to ensure accessibility.

• Only members of the team may work on this preliminary case.

Semi-finals Process:

• Each team will create a presentation strategically outlining key points to their proposed case and solution in the form of a PowerPoint presentation. The actual presentation will be delivered in front of a panel of judges.

Violation of this rule may result in a disqualification.

• The rules of academic integrity apply, meaning that plagiarism, consulting faculty assistance, and theft of other team’s ideas will not be tolerated.

• Teams will be evaluated according to a predetermined rubric and given feedback after their semi-final presentation by the panel of judges. The challenge of the final round of presentations will be to incorporate the feedback given by the judges in to the final presentation.

• The rubric will emphasize solid content, outstanding analysis, and high quality presentations. The judges’ decisions on all presentations and submissions are final.

Finals Process:

• The top four teams that will be advancing to the final round will be announced after the semi-finals.

• Based on the judges’ feedback, teams will be able to edit their final case presentations after the semi-final round.

• The final four teams will deliver their presentations (with the incorporated feedback from the semi-final round) and proceed to the awards ceremony where the winner of the competition will be announced.
