Real-Time Venue Benchmarking and OptimizationToday, mobile subscribers have little tolerance for dropped calls and the inability to access data and applications. Operators must know how networks are performing and trending in real time compared to their competition. Benchmarking the quality of their network, accurately, and in real-time, is now a must-have for network service providers and Viavi now offers a simple, reliable, accurate, and real-time solution.

This ultra-portable, cloud-enabled solution makes it easy to test any indoor environment—including airports, stadiums, malls, and offices. Using an Android-based app, a single technician can discreetly gather data from up to six smartphones and a single receiver. If needed, multiple technicians can perform a similar exercise simultaneously. With Rubix, operators can monitor real-time network performance and perform benchmark testing to quickly resolve performance issues, minimize user churn. and monetize their investment.

Indoor-Antenna Validation As service providers continue to improve their coverage and capacity, the number of DAS and in-building solutions are growing exponentially. In some cases a DAS venue can have over 500 antennas. To deploy and verify such a complex in-building solution, it is essential for the operator or the neutral host to have access to cost-effective tools that can quickly and correctly identify issues.

Rubix offers a simple and quick way to identify any antenna-related issues at a venue by leveraging iBwave geocoded map files (ibwc) and RF data collected from TrueSite™. Its indoor validation report shows the health of each antenna. The solution provides KPI per antenna so technicians can quickly identify issues such as antennas not transmitting or antennas not transmitting at the right levels.

This solution greatly reduces costs by automating existing processes, providing technicians all the needed information to complete installations and verifications in a single site visit.

VoLTE ValidationVoice continues to be the most important application for all operators and as operators rollout VoLTE, ensuring quality to meet or exceed legacy voice service is a must. Users will not accept any degradation in voice quality and the transition to VoLTE has to be completely transparent to the end user from a quality perspective. With VoLTE competing with OTT applications, it is extremely important for operators to offer VoLTE as a premium voice service compared to other VoIP services.

However, VoLTE presents challenges. VoLTE networks are far more complicated to troubleshoot then traditional CS or PS networks. Where a voice application competes with other data-centric applications, it is essential to monitor delay and latency and ensure correct network policies are in place.

Viavi has partnered with operators to deliver key VoLTE KPIs such as IMS session setup time, IMS session success, RTP packet loss, RTP packet jitter, VoLTE accessibility, VoLTE retainability, average call setup time, average call duration, and call blocks.

eMBMS ValidationEvolved multimedia broadcast multicast service (eMBMS) allows multimedia content to be sent once and received by many end users. This one-to-many distribution mode can be a valuable alternative to unicast when a large number of users are interested in the same content.

During live streaming of major sports or news events, unicast must send the same video to every user individually. Multicast takes advantage of the inherent broadcast qualities of wireless networks to send video only once to reach an equal number of end users.

In these types of scenarios, multicast makes more efficient use of the available spectrum and reduces cost per bit. eMBMS benefits include:
