    Ana Dionne-Lanier

Political Science and Peace Studies Major, Senior

I have a very strong passion for African conflict studies and spentmy sophomore summer in Uganda and Rwanda. During those 6

weeks I studied post-conflict development through engagement with

local leaders and humanitarian actors. It was based on experientiallearning and largely depended on our own conversations with ourhost families and people around us. Through my studies I affirmed

my strong belief in a holistic approach to development, involving the

complete understanding of a context in order to best adapt a projector idea. I am excited to be working with Rubia this semester and I

hope to also practice my French skills. With three semesters under

my belt I have a basic speaking ability and strong reading capabilities.

    Jessica Peck

My name is Jessica Peck. I am a Spanish and French majorat the University of Notre Dame, and I am also minoring in

International Development. I am very passionate about

education issues, women's education in particular. I bring

several sets of skills to the table: I have experience in

teaching, as I taught piano for years, and currently

teach Sunday school at a local church; I have strong

organizational/logistical skills honed over years of running

clubs, newspapers, theatrical productions, etc.; and,

somewhat more trivially (yet relevant given Rubia's current

projects), I love to sew! I am very excited about the work

that Rubia is doing around the world, and I can't wait to

    start contributing.
