This is a

powerpoint about

rubbish.

Page 2: Rubbish Slide Show

• Rubbish is everything we throw away. Everything we put in the bin goes to a rubbish dump.

Page 3: Rubbish Slide Show

• About 80% of all rubbish ends up in landfill sites.

Page 4: Rubbish Slide Show

• These are large pits filled with rubbish and covered up with soil. Most of these are already full up.

Page 5: Rubbish Slide Show

• Some waste like paint and cleaning products have chemicals in them which can leak into the soil and get into the water supply.

Page 6: Rubbish Slide Show

• Landfill sites also pollute the air with methane. Methane is a gas that is produced as the rubbish rots underground. Pipes inserted into the ground let the gas out so that there are no explosions underground.

Page 7: Rubbish Slide Show

• Also, if you burn rubbish, smoke pollutes the air.

Page 8: Rubbish Slide Show

• Some people throw their rubbish at the side of country roads.

Page 9: Rubbish Slide Show

• Other people dump their rubbish into the sea.

Page 10: Rubbish Slide Show

• This can harm all sorts of animals – birds, fish and mammals. It is also very ugly and destroys the looks of our beautiful countryside.

Page 11: Rubbish Slide Show
