RU40 Baseband DimensioningSystem Module rel.2

There are the following new baseband dimensioning rules in RU40 (compa

release):

•  HSUPA Processing Set definition and HSUPA resources allocation

•  CCCH Processing Set license for CCCH processing

•  MC-HSDPA cells mapping to scheduler (RU40 feature)

•  HS_Cell-FACH UL (RU40 feature)

HSUPA baseband resources allocation in RU30HSUPA Processing Set in RU30

• HSUPA license is called HSUPA BTS Processing Set

• The HSUPA BTS Processing Set is a HSUPA BB resources reservation inside the Flexi System Module Rel.2

certain number of HSUPA users and HSUPA throughput.

• HSUPA baseband resources allocation is performed in steps – so called HSUPA resource steps. One step

• 1 HSUPA Processing Set corresponds to 1,5 subunit

• 1 HSUPA Processing Set allows to reach 5.8Mbps or 24 users

Each System Module rel.2 content includes resources for

CCCH processing for basic configurations (e.g. 6cell/10km

or 3cell/20km)

However in certain cases (e.g. higher configuration or

higher cell radius) more resources needs to be licensed for

CCCH processing.

In RU40 for pure System Module rel.2 (e.g. FSMD or FSME

+ FSME) Rel.99 CE might be required while with mixed HW

case - System Module rel.3 and System Module rel.2 BTS(e.g. FSMF + FSMD) – CCCH Processing Set license is

introduced.

One CCCH Processing Set corresponds to 1 subunit

(System Module rel.2) / 0,5 subunit (System Module rel.3)

Group 4: Tcell value 9

Group 1: Tcell values 0, 1 and 2

Group 3: Tcell values 6, 7 and 8

Tcell groupingGeneral information

• Tcell grouping is used to group cells to the HSDPA scheduler

• Tcell groups 1 and 3 are handled by the first scheduler in System Module Rel.2 and Tcell groups 2 and 4

second scheduler System Module Rel.2.• The same TCell values can be used by different cells if those are allocated to different frequency layers.

• With Dual Cell or Dual Band HSDPA feature both cells from one sector must have the same Tcell value. N

cell feature, two cells from the same sector need to be served by the same scheduler and belong to the s

• One scheduler can handle up to two Tcell groups. If there is only one Tcell group used, six cells can be s

two Tcell groups and one scheduler, up to three cells per Tcell group can be supported (still up to six cells

However when Multi Cell HSDPA is activated one scheduler can support up to 8 cells while secon

remaining (up to 4) cells.• The principles of grouping (maximum four TCell groups per LCG are possible) are as follows:

HS-Cell_FACH UL users

With this feature the network allows the user to send and receive small data in Cell_FACH state ov

(HS-DSCH/E-DCH) channels in Cell_FACH state.

Note that RAN1637 allows the user to receive data on the HS-DSCH channel in Cell_FACH state.

HS-Cell_FACH UL users

• UE in Cell_FACH state does not require any license. However for handling users in HS-Cell_FAbaseband resource are required.

• HSUPA baseband resources for HS-FACH users are statically allocated according to commissiUsing Min. number of HS-FACH users parameter operator can commissioned resources for CeReservation is done in the steps (four steps available) for each LCG.

• Single step provides baseband capacity for 10 HS-FACH users (in maximum 40 HS-FACH useLCG).

• One step is an equivalent of one HSUPA resource step (0,25 subunit for System Module rel.2)

• HS-Cell_FACH user is treated as normal HSPA user with respect to maximum number of usersand HSUPA schedulers.
