' For a man indeed ought not to cover [his] head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man'. -Corinthian s 11:7. Historically the roles of Women were, in the eyes of many, seen as inferior to the 'dominant male'. In the past men have been the ones who would get the jobs while the wives stayed at home to look after the children and the house as a whole. Up until recent times women were not able to have the same jobs as men and, thus, may have seemed the inferior propor tion of the popula tion. Now, however, that things have changed the roles of men and women are equalizing until, in the presen t day, the roles are pretty much equal. Now it is not always the case of women staying at home to look after the house; men do it too.  The ideology of Christianity nowadays is equality, 'Love thy neighbour' etc. but, 2000 years ago, this was not the cas e. Sexual equali ty was rel ati vel y rare and not really many people believed in it. The Bible does, to some extent, impl y that women should be held as inferior to men; 'Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husband s, as unto the Lord'. - Ephesians 5:22.  The Bible was not, however, completely biased against women. There are some sections that contradict the more stereotyp ical views: 'There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.' - Galatians 3:28. This revokes the said implied fact that women are (or were) inferior to men. Key Quotes for your essays 1 Corinthians 11:8-9 For man was not made from woman, but woman from man.
