Historically the roles of Women were, in the eyes of many, seen as inferior to the'dominant male'. In the past men have been the ones whowould get the jobs while the wives stayed at home to lookafter the children and the house as a whole. Up until recenttimes women were not able to have the same jobs asmen and, thus, may have seemed the inferiorproportion of the population. Now, however, thatthings have changed the roles of men and women areequalizing until, in the present day, the roles arepretty much equal. Now it is not always the case of women staying at home to look after the house; mendo it too.

 The ideology of Christianity nowadays is equality, 'Love thy neighbour' etc. but, 2000 years ago, this was not thecase. Sexual equality was relatively rare and notreally many people believed in it. The Bible does, tosome extent, imply that women should be held as

inferior to men; 'Wives, submit yourselves unto your ownhusbands, as unto the Lord'. - Ephesians 5:22.

 The Bible was not, however, completely biased againstwomen. There are some sections that contradict the morestereotypical views: 'There is neither Jew nor Greek, there isneither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you

are all one in Christ Jesus.' - Galatians 3:28. This revokes thesaid implied fact that women are (or were) inferior to men.
